Abstract

Background: Hypertension is the most common disease experienced by the community and usually appears without complaints so that many clients do not know that they have suffered from hypertension. Until now Hypertension is still a major problem and is the first cause of death in the world. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the family assistance model in improving the PENSIKU (knowledge, attitudes and behavior) of clients and families in treating hypertensive hypertension. Methods: The study design used quasi-experimental Non-Randomized Control Group Pre-Test Post Test Design on 120 hypertensive clients and 120 families. The instrument used in this study was the PENSIKU questionnaire. Equality analysis before intervention and control group models was performed with an independent t-test with α = 0.05. To determine the change in the average value of the intervention and control groups using the dependent t-test. Results: The results showed that the Family Assistance Model was effective in improving the PENSIKU (knowledge, attitudes and behavior) of clients and families in treating hypertensive hypertension. This is shown by the increase in client PENSIKU (knowledge, attitudes and behavior) by 7.1% and family PENSIKU (knowledge, attitudes and behavior) by 5.8%. Conclusions: This model is recommended to be implemented in all community health center areas as an effort to control hypertension.

Abstract

Diabetes is not solely an adult health issue—it has also become a growing concern among school-age children. The rise in childhood obesity has contributed to an increasing incidence of type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents, which now parallels and sometimes surpasses that of type 1 diabetes. Parents need to take proactive steps to prevent this disease by providing accurate information to their children. Children can also gain knowledge through educational approaches aimed at enhancing their cognitive abilities, including through games. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Diabetamon game in improving cognitive skills related to diabetes mellitus prevention among school-age children. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a control group. A total sample of 99 school-age children was divided into an intervention group (47 students) and a control group (52 students), selected using proportional random sampling. The study was conducted over a one-month period, with the intervention delivered twice a week for 60 minutes over three weeks. Data collection instruments included a questionnaire and an observation checklist to assess children’s snack habits. Statistical analysis was performed using paired t-tests to examine within-group changes and independent samples t-tests to compare between-group differences, with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that the cognitive abilities of the intervention group improved significantly compared to the control group. The Diabetamon game was proven effective in enhancing school-aged children's knowledge about the importance of consuming fruits and vegetables, in line with the pillars of balanced nutrition and physical activity.

Abstract

Background: Correctional institutions represent a unique healthcare setting that remains underutilized as a learning platform in nursing education. Despite the obligation to uphold inmates’ health rights and meet healthcare service standards, the Indonesian correctional system continues to face significant challenges in addressing health problems among incarcerated populations. Strengthening collaboration between nursing educational institutions and correctional facilities may offer a strategic approach to improving healthcare access and outcomes in this high-risk and marginalized group. Objective: This study aimed to develop a collaboration model between nursing educational institutions and correctional institutions to minimize health problems among inmates while enhancing nursing education and student competencies. Methods: This study employed a mixed qualitative–quantitative design conducted in two stages. The first stage involved exploring best practices through in-depth interviews. The second stage focused on developing a collaboration model using the Delphi technique to achieve expert consensus. A total of 21 participants were recruited using purposive sampling, including prison healthcare coordinators, correctional nurses, nursing lecturers, and students involved in collaborative programs. Data from the qualitative phase were analyzed using thematic analysis, while the Delphi process was used to refine and validate the model, achieving a consensus level of greater than 70%.Results: The study resulted in a comprehensive collaboration model comprising three main domains. The personal system includes perception, commitment, and empathy; the interpersonal system includes communication, roles, and role modeling; and the social system includes policies, procedures, and security considerations. This model reflects a multidimensional framework for effective collaboration between educational and correctional institutions. Conclusions: The proposed collaboration model provides a structured approach to improving healthcare access and quality for inmates while simultaneously enhancing experiential learning opportunities for nursing students. Effective implementation of this model has the potential to strengthen health outcomes in correctional settings and contribute to the development of competent, socially responsive nursing professionals
