Abstract

Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women with 7.5% of all deaths due to cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is still found in many developing countries, including Indonesia. The aim of this PKM is to motivate women of reproductive age (WUS) about the importance of early detection of cervical cancer using the IVA test method. PKM activities were carried out by means of health education methods using leaflet media to 30 WUSs in Muaratais Village. The results of this outreach activity were continued by providing an evaluation to WUS, namely questions and answers regarding the material on early detection of cervical cancer using the given IVA test method. There were three questions that were asked by the extension agent to WUS. Based on the answers given, the WUS showed that the WUS understood the material provided by the extension agents. PKM activities carried out went well. The WUS in Muaratais Village who participated in the activity seemed enthusiastic about participating in the counseling activities.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that dominated by tropical rainforests with adequate rainfall. These conditions allow various plant species to thrive. One such plant is water apple (Syzygium aqueum). The use of water apple leaf extract as an antibacterial agent has garnered attention due to the increasing trend of bacterial resistance againts antibiotics. The aim of this study is to describe the antibacterial effects of water apple (Syzygium aqueum) leaf extract on several bacterial species by observing the diameter of the inhibition zone. The method employed is a systematic review. Article searches were conducted through databases such as PubMed Central, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Garuda. The journal selection and formulation of research questions were guided by the PICO method. Article searches followed the 2020 PRISMA methodology. The article search yielded six articles reviewed from a total of 9,911 articles identified. The findings from the reviewed articles indicate that water apple leaf extract (Syzygium aqueum) exhibits antibacterial effects on both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The active compounds in water apple leaf extract that exhibit antibacterial properties are flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids.

Abstract

In the pathogenesis of heart failure, there is an inflammatory process that has a close relationship, where both influence each other. The lymphocyte monocyte ratio (LMR) is a cheap and easy inflammatory biomarker and is considered to function as a predictor of poor clinical outcomes in heart failure patients. This study is an analytical descriptive study conducted with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique was carried out using consecutive sampling techniques from samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. In this study, a chi-square test was carried out to test for significant relationships between variables. Researchers used secondary data from 86 medical record data. A total of 23.26% of samples had low LMR (≤2) with low ejection fraction (≤40%) and 3.49% had low LMR (≤2) and high left ventricular ejection fraction (>40%). On the other hand, there were 44.18% of samples that had high RLM (>2) with low left ventricular ejection fraction (≤40%) and there were 29.07% of samples that had high RML (>40%) and low left ventricular ejection fraction (≤2). The results of the chi-square test stated that the p value of both variables was 0.02 with an odds ratio of 4.386. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the lymphocyte monocyte ratio (LMR) and left ventricular ejection fraction in heart failure patients at Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Hospital, Lampung Province in 2023.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan permasalahan gizi kronis yang masih menjadi tantangan utama di berbagai daerah, termasuk di Desa Karang Anyar, Kabupaten Lampung Selatan. Upaya pencegahan stunting memerlukan intervensi edukatif yang efektif serta inovasi pemanfaatan pangan lokal sebagai alternatif sumber nutrisi. Biji durian (Durio zibethinus Murr), yang selama ini kurang dimanfaatkan, memiliki potensi sebagai bahan dasar susu MP-ASI (Makanan Pendamping-Air Susu Ibu) karena kandungan gizinya yang tinggi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat terkait stunting dan pemanfaatan biji durian sebagai MP-ASI melalui pendekatan edukatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah pretest dan posttest pada 30 peserta dengan sepuluh pertanyaan yang sama sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada seluruh indikator pemahaman setelah edukasi, dengan rata-rata jumlah peserta yang menjawab benar meningkat dari 10–16 orang menjadi 25–30 orang (p < 0,0001). Edukasi juga efektif dalam memperkenalkan konsep baru terkait nilai gizi dan cara pengolahan biji durian. Kesimpulannya, edukasi berbasis pangan lokal dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat secara signifikan dan berpotensi mendukung upaya pencegahan stunting di tingkat desa. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya integrasi edukasi gizi dan inovasi pangan lokal dalam strategi intervensi kesehatan masyarakat
