Abstract

This research aimed at investigating the Strategy used by Instructors of SEC (SMAGA English Club) 2018.Teaching English Speaking at Student of EFL is the most difficult thing for the Instructors. Language teaching strategies should be fun and enjoyable because learning language will be easier by using a good method and strategy that help language learners easier to understand. Every student will have different character in understanding a material. Therefore, Instructors have to facilitate them as good as possible.The Instructors strategy will influence to language learners understanding. In conducting the research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative research. observation, interview and documentation were the data collection technique. After data has been collected, the researcher analysed the data. The researcher took step of it started from reducing the data, display the data and the last drawing conclusion. This research took subjects of two Instructors of SMAGA English Club of SMAN 3 of Ponorogo the SEC consist of two divisions, general division and competition division. The data were collected from the observation, interview and documentation that organized based on research problems. Then researcher described the result.The results of that data were analysed to understand what the instructors’ strategy in motivating student’s speaking is. The researcher found that the student of SMAN 3 of Ponorogo have a good motivation in learning speaking and the strategy is used by two instructors are socio affective strategy and cognitive strategy. When applying socio affective strategy instructor used same games, the games are scrabble, tongue twister, who am I? and command games. Instructors also apply cognitive strategies by practice and repetition. In addition, the results of their strategy are for the general division they are getting better in speaking and for the competition division the student got some achievements that reach in some competition.By this research researcher suggested for instructors, students and other researcher. Instructors have to use appropriate strategy in teaching. Students have to more understand about speaking skill by instructor’s strategy. For other researcher can use the result of the research as the references for further research with different discussion domain of instructor’s teaching.

Abstract

Listening merupakan salah satu kemampuan berbahasa reseptive yang memiliki peranan penting dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Namun pada kenyataannya masih banyak yang belum bisa menguasai keterampilan mendengarkan ini dengan baik. TOEFL merupakan salah satu jenis uji kompetensi berbahasa yang merupakan upaya dalam menstandardisasi penguasaan berbahasa. Listening merupakan salah satu dari bagian yang dirasa cukup sulit pada TOEFL tersebut.Berdasarkan hasil pre-observasi yang dilakukan peneliti di Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, diketahui bahwa kemapuan Listening mahasiswa pada pembelajaran Listening for TOEFL Preparation masih kurang. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan beberapa hasil antara lain, nilai pre-test mahamahasiswa pada mata kuliah Listening for TOEFL Preparation masih dibawah standar yang ditetapkan pada  kriteria penilian TOEFL. Oleh karena itu diperlukan sebuah tehnik yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan listening mahasiswa sehingga dipilihlah TBLT Three Phase Technique sebagai tehnik yang tepat dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan ini.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) mengetahui apakah TBLT Three Phase Technique dapat meningkatkan kemampuan listening mahasiswa Bahasa Inggris; 2) Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan dalam penggunaan TBLT Three Phase Technique untuk meningkatkan kemampuan listening mahasiswa Bahasa Inggris.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Peneliti mengadakan penelitian selama lima bulan pada mahasiswa semester 8 Prodi Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Kepengajaran dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo.Peningkatan penguasaan kemampuan mendengarkan mahasiswa dapat pula dilihat dari hasil test yaitu pre-test adalah 68,3, post-test 1 adalah 75,4 dan post-test 2 adalah 87,4. Hasil penghitungan signifikansi kenaikan dilihat dari 5% dengan t table ( dari 23 mahasiswa adalah t obtained   2,02 adalah 4,6 dan 8,6 untuk .

Abstract

Masih berlangsungnya pandemi Covid-19 memberikan dampak yang mempengaruhi segala aspek kehidupan, tidak terkecuali bidang pendidikan. Berbagai kebijakan telah diambil sebagai upaya untuk menekan angka penyebaran virus ini. Adapun dalam bidang pendidikan salah satu langkah atau kebijakan yang diambil adalah dengan ditiadakannya pembelajaran tatap muka dan diganti dengan pembelajaran daring atau online. Tidak hanya kegiatan pembelajaran di tingkat sekolah (SD,SMP,SMA) tetapi juga berlaku sampai ke tingkat Universitas. Kebijakan belajar daring juga bukan tanpa kekurangan. Masih banyak dijumpai kendala yang mengakibatkan terhambatnya keberlangsungan pembelajaran secara daring. Salah satu kendala yang dihadapi adalah masih banyaknya tenaga pendidik yang tidak atau belum menguasi teknologi dengan baik, serta memanfaatkannya sebagai salah satu bagian dari media belajar daring ini. Berdasarkan hal tersebut di atas, maka dirasa perlu untuk memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan mengenai Literasi Digital sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran itu sendiri. Adapun pelatihan dan pendampingan ini dilaksanakan oleh para pakar dan tenaga ahli dari bidang IT, sehingga diharapkan hasil akhir dari pendampingan ini dapat meningkatkan keterampilan pendidik dalam menggunakan software maupun hardware. Dari kegiatan pelatihan dan pengabdian ini, keterampilan pendidik dalam mengoperasikan media pembelajaran mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari hasil lokakarya yang telah dibuat, di mana 27 dari 30 peserta telah mengalami peningkatan baik dari pengetahuan maupun keterampilan daripada penggunaan media pembelajaran yang telah dilatihkan.

Abstract

Indonesia is located between the world's large plates, the Indo-Australian, Eurasian, Pacific, and Philippine plates. The interactions that often occur on these plates produce natural phenomena in the form of earthquakes. Earthquake natural phenomena can often be declared a disaster if the earthquake threatens and has the potential to cause harm to humans, both material and non-material. Earthquakes cannot be predicted with certainty when they will occur and earthquakes come suddenly without any sign from nature. Therefore, we must always be prepared if an earthquake occurs at any time. We must know what to do when an earthquake occurs wherever we are. This aims to get safety from earthquake disasters and reduce the risk of disasters. So counseling is needed about the importance of communication when an earthquake occurs. The benefits of the importance of communication in disasters, especially earthquake disasters, include: 1) Reducing the impact, especially for residents, 2) As a basis (guidelines) for development planning, 3) Increasing public knowledge in dealing with and reducing the impact/risk of disasters so that people can live and work safely. The Education Unit is the unit with the most potential for holding counseling on the importance of communication during a disaster. This is due to a large number of resources, both human resources and asset resources owned by the education unit.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication involves interaction between two or more people, usually with a direct connection and with some sort of relationship being assumed. Interpersonal communication is often distinguished from group communication, organizational communication especially in corporate or business settings, public communication, or mass communication. The lack of students’ communication activities signed by the students’ commonly shy to speak up or delivering their idea. Most of them have a high anxiety in speaking. It also supports with there are no activities outside classroom in enhancing their capacity in speaking. The important thing to remember is that interpersonal communication is not part of an innate personality trait, but is a skill that can be learned and trained. This research aims to improve the ability of interpersonal communication by role playing method for second year students of Digital Business and Disaster Management Program of Akbara Polytechnic. This research is a Classroom Action Research. Subject of this research is 20 students. The data collection methods are test and observation. The first cycle of role-playing action is based on the drama script. The first and the second cycle focused on the aspect of speaking ability especially for grammar, diction/vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension. The second cycle of role-playing action is based on the drama script but the students’ roles are changed. The second cycle is focused on the aspect of equality which is still lack of it. The improvement of the teaching learning process can be shown by the result of students’ speaking observation such as the students being active to deliver their character, use the correct grammar, delivering the message of the character fluency and comprehension, minimum the hesitation, and use various vocabularies. Moreover, the improvement also can be seen form the students’ average test score of speaking, they are: (1) the students’ average pre-test score is 60,4; (2) the students’ average post-test score on the first cycle is 73,8; (3) the students’ average post-test score on the second cycle is 89,5. It can be concluded that role-playing method can enhance the students’ ability of interpersonal communication for student of second grade students of Digital Business and Disaster Management Program of Akbara Polytechnic.

Abstract

Climate change is increasing the frequency of floods in Indonesia, thereby triggering the need for effective disaster management down to detailed levels such as the Destana Program. Madegondo Village, Sukoharjo Regency experiences floods every year. It has become the focus of research to improve community preparedness using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as the main technique. This research revealed that Madegondo Village is vulnerable to tornadoes, fires, and dengue fever. Risk analysis indicates a moderate level of danger in affecting human, economic, infrastructure, environmental, and socio-political assets. Furthermore, the creation of flood disaster risk maps, the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum, and disaster management plans were also carried out based on community participation. An early warning system was also developed via telephone and WhatsApp based on data from Kaliwingko and Bengawan Solo River.

Abstract

The research entitled Implementation of Flipped Classroom in English learning at APMD Yogyakarta aims to help students understand English courses in the first semester of students. Flipped Classroom is one of the teaching methods where students get learning materials along with exercises and assignments (individual or group) in the form of videos and access them online through Google Classroom, to be done outside the classroom to be discussed during course hours. So, during class, what the teacher does is to review the material, discuss assignments or exercises, and answer questions from students who still don't understand the material given. Meanwhile, students who come to class are expected to have gained an understanding of the material presented. This method is tried to be applied to overcome the time constraints given for this course, which is only 1x a week for 2 hours of lectures (@ 45 minutes). It is hoped that by implementing this method, student will enhance their English skill and can easily understand the material presented marked by increasing students’ score.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the students’ writing skill through Teacher Feedback strategy at First Semester Students of English Letters Department UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta in 2024-2025. The subjects of this research were 27 students of A class.  This research used a cycle of Classroom Action Research, and it consisted of five meetings. The CAR cycle contents are Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. This research used two types of data, and they were qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained through observations during the teaching learning activities. Moreover, the quantitative data were the scores of the students’ writing recount text before the implementation of the Feedback (pre-test) and after the implementation of the Feedback (post-test). The students’ pre-test scores showed that the total was 1250. In this degree, the mean that the researcher gained in students’ pre-test score was 46.30. Furthermore, the students’ post-test scores showed the total was 2062. In this degree, the mean that the researcher gained in students’ post-test was 76.37. It can be seen that there was an improvement on students’ mean scores. Most of the students’ scores were increased from the pre-test and the post-test scores. It was from 29.63% (8 students) who passed the minimum score to 81.48% (22 students) of the 27 students. It can be seen that there was a significant improvement from the percentage before and after treatments. In short, applying Teacher Feedback strategy in teaching learning process can significantly improve the writing skills of the students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis kesesuaian lokasi pos pemadam kebakaran dan sebaran hotel di Kota Surakarta untuk meningkatkan proteksi kebakaran di sektor perhotelan. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis spasial berbasis Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) dengan data 4 pos pemadam kebakaran dan 155 hotel. Analisis meliputi buffer analysis (radius 2,5 km, 3 km, 3,5 km), service area analysis (waktu tempuh 5 dan 10 menit), dan accessibility analysis. Hasil menunjukkan distribusi hotel tidak merata, terkonsentrasi di pusat kota. Meskipun cakupan radius 2,5 km terpenuhi (hanya 1 hotel pada jarak 2,5–3 km), waktu tanggap di pusat kota melebihi 10 menit karena hambatan infrastruktur dan kepadatan lalulintas. Area barat kota memiliki area yang tidak tercakup dengan luasan kurang dari 5%. Identifikasi gap mengungkap risiko terhadap sektor pariwisata, termasuk keselamatan wisatawan dan reputasi destinasi. Rekomendasi meliputi penambahan pos pemadam di pusat kota dan area barat, perbaikan akses jalan, serta sistem peringatan terintegrasi. Temuan ini menjadi dasar kebijakan tata kota yang responsif untuk mitigasi kebakaran.
