The phenomenon of personal branding is increasingly evident on social media, with TikTok emerging as one of the most popular digital platforms for this purpose. Its extensive user base enables individuals to reach a wide audience through visual and audiovisual content, fostering interaction with followers. Prabowo Subianto, the Minister of Defense and a potential candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election, is one political figure utilizing TikTok to build personal branding. This study aims to describe Prabowo Subianto's personal branding through the @partaigerindra TikTok account. Employing qualitative descriptive research methods, the study delves deeply into data to provide insights into Prabowo Subianto's personal branding phenomenon on TikTok. Findings reveal that Prabowo's personal branding incorporates the eight laws proposed by Montoya and Vandehey. His efforts have generated a positive perception, evident through netizens' comments on Gerindra Party's posts. The strength of Prabowo's personal branding on TikTok serves as a competitive advantage for the 2024 Election.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the hidden meanings conveyed through nonverbal communication in the short film Irony Mother Earth Calling directed by Daffa Izzudin, using Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach. The research focuses on identifying and interpreting Barthes’ five semiotic codes—hermeneutic, semic, symbolic, proairetic, and gnomic (cultural)—as representations of plastic waste issues and the environmental crisis in Indonesia. A qualitative research design with a content analysis approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth observation of ten selected scenes, which were subsequently analyzed based on the five semiotic codes. The findings indicate that the symbolic code is the most dominant in conveying hidden meanings, particularly through visual elements such as plastic packaging, drinking bottles, landfill settings, and changes in the main character’s facial expressions. These symbolic elements construct both denotative and connotative meanings related to the harmful impacts of plastic waste on the environment and human life. In contrast, the gnomic code appears least frequently, primarily through the use of the text “Mother Earth” and the character’s vocal intonation, reflecting cultural values and collective environmental awareness. The proairetic code plays a significant role in presenting sequences of concrete actions addressing plastic waste management, while the hermeneutic code creates elements of enigma that encourage audiences to actively interpret the film’s environmental messages. This study concludes that nonverbal communication in Irony Mother Earth Calling effectively conveys hidden meanings through the application of Roland Barthes’ semiotic codes, positioning the film not only as a medium of visual expression but also as an educational tool for fostering environmental awareness and human responsibility toward ecological sustainability.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has occurred in Indonesia since March 2020 indirectly forced educators to switch from face-to-face teaching activities to online activities. Seeing the unrest experienced by educators, especially teachers and lecturers, who are not familiar with online teaching activities, the Online Learning Communication Science study program from Universitas Pelita Harapan held community service activities with the theme of digital literacy that can be followed by educators throughout Indonesia. Google Classroom is a medium that is raised in this activity because of the ease provided through its features even though Google Classroom cannot yet be categorized as a Learning Management System. Moreover, Google Classroom can be obtained for free and can be used through smart devices or computers that have an internet connection. With large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), this activity was held online using the digital platform Zoom Meeting. The result of this activity is that educators experience improved ability and understanding to carry out online teaching activities using Google Classroom such as creating classes, assignments, and quizzes, sharing teaching materials to conduct evaluations in the hope that educators are ready to do #ngajardarirumah.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Pandemi Covid-19 yang terjadi di Indonesia sejak Maret 2020 secara tidak langsung memaksa para tenaga pendidik untuk beralih dari kegiatan belajar mengajar secara tatap muka menjadi kegiatan secara dalam jaringan (daring).
