Abstract

This study aims to design picture books on endemic animals based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) values to foster global citizenship character among junior high school students. Conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Pangenan and Bandung Independent School, the research involved 120 seventh-grade students in the Civics Education subject. Using the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, the study followed a systematic process of designing, developing, and validating the educational materials to ensure alignment with SDG values, particularly those promoting environmental sustainability and global responsibility. The findings indicate that the picture books not only engaged students effectively but also facilitated a deeper understanding of global citizenship through relatable local contexts. Students demonstrated an increased awareness of biodiversity and the importance of conserving endemic species as part of their civic responsibilities. The study contributes to educational literature by highlighting the potential of SDG-based picture books as impactful tools for character education, aligning with both national and international educational goals. This research offers a model for integrating global issues into local curricula, promoting a more comprehensive approach to character development that aligns with global citizenship objectives. The outcomes suggest that such materials can be beneficial in other educational settings to cultivate an appreciation for environmental stewardship and global interconnectedness among young learners.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemanfaatan situs sejarah Gedung Indonesia Menggugat sebagai sumber belajar Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) dalam menumbuhkan karakter nasionalisme siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi yang melibatkan guru PPKn, kepala sekolah, pengelola situs, dan siswa SMP Bina Negara 2 Baleendah sebagai informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan situs sejarah Gedung Indonesia Menggugat dilakukan melalui kunjungan edukatif, pemaknaan nilai-nilai perjuangan, dan integrasi materi sejarah ke dalam pembelajaran PPKn. Siswa memperoleh pengalaman belajar langsung yang mampu memperkuat pemahaman terhadap nilai-nilai nasionalisme, seperti cinta tanah air, penghargaan terhadap jasa pahlawan, dan kebanggaan sebagai warga negara Indonesia. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa pembelajaran berbasis situs sejarah mampu menjadi strategi efektif dalam membangun karakter nasionalisme siswa secara kontekstual, terutama ketika didukung dengan pendekatan yang reflektif dan partisipatif oleh guru.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and social media has transformed patterns of political participation and citizen interaction in the public sphere. One important phenomenon in this context is the emergence of citizen journalism, which enables citizens to play an active role in the production and distribution of public information. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the practice of citizen journalism, civic engagement, and political dynamics on social media among Industrial Engineering students at Pasundan University. The study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. Data were collected through a five-point Likert scale questionnaire from 85 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted through validity, reliability, and Pearson correlation tests. The results show that citizen journalism has a positive and very strong relationship with political civic engagement (r = 0.818; p < 0.001). In addition, civic engagement also correlates positively and strongly with political dynamics on social media (r = 0.724; p < 0.001), and citizen journalism is positively related to political dynamics on social media (r = 0.629; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that student involvement in citizen journalism practices and digital citizenship activities plays an important role in shaping a dynamic digital political space. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening digital literacy and citizenship awareness in supporting the quality of democracy in the digital age.
