Abstract

ABSTRACTCrime scene may leave various items of evidence, one of them bloodstain. Bloodstain might provide valuable information that indicates a lot form of violence that can be used as a solution in a criminal case. Criminals often camouflage the traces or evidence by cleaning the bloodstains using cleaning agents to cover up the crime. One of the cleaning agents that may be used by criminal is liquid dish soap. Bloodstains that contaminated by liquid dish soap may affect the results of the examination using Teichmann and Takayama tests. The purpose of this study is to describe the hemoglobin crystal in bloodstains that contaminated by liquid dish soap using Teichmann and Takayama test. In this study, there were five liquid dish soap solutions swabbed onto bloodstained slides for each tests. The results show that all 22 slides (100 %) still have positive result which means the hemoglobin crystal still could be found in the contaminated bloodstain using Teichmann and Takayama test. The conclusion of this study is liquid dish soap that used might not affect the formation of hemoglobin crystal using Teichmann and Takayama test .Keywords: Bloodstain, hemoglobin crystals, liquid dish soap, Teichmann and Takayama

Abstract

Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura are part of Soil Transmitted Helminthes (STH) which need gristle soil for it’s egg development and maturation as well as media to be infective. The aim of this research was to describe the infestation of Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura on elementary students grade I, II, and III SDN 45 in brick made home industry Kecamatan Tenayan Raya Pekanbaru. This research was cross sectional descriptive study which was done in August 2013. From 83 samples, 20 students (24%) are infested with Ascaris lumbricoides, 17 students (20.4%) are infested with Trichuris trichiura and 6 students (7.2%) are having mix infestation. Infected students have poor washing hand habits in their house 25 students (30.1%), 34 students (40.9%) have poor washing hand habits before eat junkfood. Meanwhile infected students have good cutting nail habits 30 students (36.1%) and good defecating habits 29 students (34.9%). These results indicate that the STH infestation influenced not only one habit but also influenced by other habits.Keywords: Ascaris lumbricoides infestation, Trichuris trichiura; washing hand; cutting nail; defecation.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBloodstains found on crime scene usually cleaned and camouflaged by the criminals as an attempt to eliminate the evidence. One of the way to eliminate the evidence is by using non antiseptic bar soap that can be found easily on the market. The contamination of non antiseptic bar soap on the bloodstains could probably influence the result of bloodstain’s identification by Teichmann test and Takayama test. This study was conducted to describe the crystal formation of hemoglobin at bloodstains that exposed with some brand of non antiseptic bar soap by Teichmann test and Takayama test. Each of bloodstain’s sample were exposed by flowing the non antiseptic bar soap that has been smoothed and dissolved in water. There were 66 samples that observed and found positive results on all samples (100%) through Teichmann test and Takayama test. These results showed that hemoglobin crystals still could be found even after the bloodstains were exposed by non antiseptic bar soap. The conclusion of this research is non antiseptic bar soaps do not influence the formation of hemoglobin crystals.Keyword : hemoglobin crystals, bloodstain, Teichmann test , Takayama test, non antiseptic bar soap

Abstract

AbstrakPemanasan berulang pada minyak dengan suhu tinggi mengakibatkan proses oksidasiyang akan meningkatkan oksidan tubuh jika termakan. Penelitian ini menentukan pengaruhlama konsumsi makanan yang digoreng dengan minyak kelapa sawit pemanasan 40 kaliterhadap kadar malondialdehid (MDA) plasma. Desain penelitian ini adalah post test onlycontrol group dengan menggunakan hewan coba tikus sebagai sampel.Tikus dibagi 4 kelompokyang terdiri dari 2 kelompok perlakuan 14 dan 28 hari yang diberikan kentang yang digorengdengan minyak tanpa pemanasan berulang serta 2 kelompok perlakuan 14 dan 28 hari denganpemanasan berulang 40 kali. MDA diukur dengan metode Wills. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa MDA plasma pada kelompok dengan pemanasan berulang berbeda bermakna(p=0,004) jika dikonsumsi selama 28 hari, namun tidak berbeda bermakna (p=0,749) jikadikonsumsi selama 14 hari jika dibandingkan dengan kelompok tanpa pemanasan berulang.Durasi konsumsi selama 14 dan 28 hari tidak mengakibatkan perbedaan MDA plasma yangbermakna (p=0,766). Kesimpulan, pemberian makanan yang digoreng dengan minyakkelapa sawit yang dipanaskan berulang 40 kali selama 14 dengan 28 hari tidak menimbulkanperbedaan bermakna kadar MDA plasma.AbstractRe-heated process of oil could increase oxidative products, resulting in the increase ofoxidant level if consumed. This research investigated the influence of long term consumptionof food fried in 40 times re-heated palm oil on plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) level. This waspost test only control group research. This research used rat as experimental models whichwere divided into 4 groups. Two groups were given potatoes fried in non re-heated palm oilfor 14 and 28 days, and 2 groups were given potatoes fried in 40 times re-heated palm oilfor 14 and 28 days. MDA levels were measured by Wills methods. Result showed that MDAplasma level in re-heated group was significantly different (p=0.004) if consumed for 28 dayscompared to non re-heated group, but was not significantly different (p=0.749) if consumedfor 14 days. There was no significant difference on MDA plasma level between the durationof consumption for 14 days and 28 days (0.766). As conclusion, consumption of food fried in40 times re-heated palm oil for 14 and 28 days did not cause significant differences on MDAplasma level.
