Abstract

Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum, syn. Eugenia aromaticum), in English called cloves, is the aromatic dried flower stalks of Myrtaceae family. Cloves are native to Indonesia. In Indonesia, clove species cultivated is Zanzibar, Siputih, Sikotok, and Ambon. The information value of genetic diversity of the population of clove is one of the important considerations in determining conservation and breeding strategies conducted. Identification of diversity and kinship cloves in Ternate Island has never been so necessary to identify the diversity and kinship population of clove in order to add information. The purpose of this study is to determine the diversity of the types of clover on the island of Ternate and to investigate kinship cloves in Ternate Island. The research was conducted on the island of Ternate and sampling sites in the District of North Ternate, Ternate South, Central Ternate, Ternate Island which took place in March 2016 to May 2016. The method used in this research is descriptive method with direct observation of the object being observed, Direct observation on the plant example in the field based descriptors guide cloves. The parameters observed were 21 morphological characters and 24 agronomic characters. Data analyzed using analysis of variance diversity Bartlett and Dunnet test and kekerabatannya processed using data clustering analysis matrix (cluster analysis) and manufacturing methods dendogram with UPGMA method. The results of this study indicate that discovered 11 types of clover on the island of Ternate in the Village Rua (Ambon Panjang), Tonggole (Bogor, Ambon Gemuk, Pink), Sulamadaha (Zanzibar Pangkal Kuning), Foramadiahi (Rica), Marikurubu (Zanzibar, Afo) , Jan (Posi-posi), Fitu (Bendera), and Loto (Putih) with the diversity of the nature shown in several morphological characters. As well as kinship 11 types of clover which shows a close kinship between clove White (PTH) with Afo clove (AFO) is 99.00% while by far the kinship between clove Rica (RICA) with clove Flag (BNDR) is 54.56% and Posi-posi cloves (PSPS) is p53.82%.

Abstract

The character of Hiri Island, which is located in the cluster of small islands in North Maluku in the study of sustainable crop cultivation practices, has yet to be documented in the Islands Agriculture database. This research reveals local farmers' cultivation practices using production inputs. The methods used are observation and interviews. Respondents were determined by deliberate methods. Research variables included sustainable agriculture indicators such as land conservation, agroforestry, integrated pest control, protective crops, crop nutrient management, and crop diversification. Data were obtained through a closed questionnaire with "Yes" or "No" questions. The answer "Yes" was given a score of 1, while the answer "No" was a score of 0. Next, the data is tabulated and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that farmers on Hiri Island maintain agricultural productivity by implementing sustainable agricultural practices with several indicators such as water source management 42%, integrated pest control 50%, crop diversification 65%, crop nutrition management 65%, land conservation 75%, and agroforestry 83%. Farmers on this island have implemented the concept of sustainable agriculture, but it needs to be done continuously by maximizing cultivation practices on small islands. Abstract

Abstract

Aiming to utilize empty land in the yard of the employee housing complex by planting butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea), at PT GMM, Gane Barat Selatan District, South Halmahera Regency which was implemented by the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Khairun University, Ternate through a participatory approach, this activity involved mothers in the employee housing complex to understand the benefits and techniques of planting butterfly pea flowers as medicinal ingredients, natural dyes and ornamental plants. The results and discussions showed that the movement to plant butterfly pea flowers in the yard of the employee housing complex was very much responded to by mothers in the PT GMM employee housing complex as part of an attractive and healthy greening of the environment, can reflect a sense of responsibility and concern for employees towards the surrounding environment and the spirit to support the company's program in terms of sustainability and nature conservation.

Abstract

Avocado (Persea americana Mill.) is a tropical fruit plant with high economic value and is generally propagated vegetatively through grafting techniques using scions. The success of propagation and the quality of the resulting plants are largely determined by the characteristics of the tree selected as the scion source. The purpose of this study is to describe the morphological characteristics of avocado mother trees that need to be considered in the selection of scion sources through observation and systematic literature studies from various publications. The morphological study was based on observations of mother trees in Tubo Village and analyzed descriptively by tabulating quantitative data. The results of the study indicate that the ideal tree selected as a scion source must meet morphological criteria in the stem, leaves, branches, and visual health of the plant. The tree trunk shows vigorous growth with balanced branching. The leaves have a distinctive shape, size, and color according to the variety and are free from pathogen symptoms. Branches used as scion sources are young branches with a diameter of 0.5-1 cm, have undergone complete growth, have healthy buds, and come from parts of the plant with high productivity. Selection of mother trees based on appropriate morphological characteristics is the first step in providing quality scions to ensure the success of avocado propagation and productivity.

Abstract

The Barinji Rice is a traditional culinary heritage of Ternate, rich in the flavor of spices and cultural significance. Its use remains limited to ritual offerings, placing local knowledge at risk of extinction. This community engagement initiative aims to reorient Barinji Rice as a signature culinary product that supports the branding of “Ternate, the City of Spices.” Through exploratory and experimental approaches, media outreach, exhibitions, and organoleptic testing, the activity revealed that Barinji Rice is now recognized and favored by 92% of respondents. This indicates its strong potential as a culinary business product, as well as a symbol of local cultural and economic identity.
