Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is a disorder of the heart and blood vessel, included heart disease and stroke. Theraphy for cardiovascular disease can be done by admission to the hospital, receiving medical treatment and supported by proper diet treatment. The efficacy of the diet provided by the hospital can be evaluated by nutrient consumption and food acceptance of the food served. The purpose of this research is to study nutrient consumption and food acceptance among cardiovascular disease hospitalized patients to the food served in Adam Malik General Hospital. A descriptive study was conducted on 32 cardiovascular disease patients based on physician diagnosis. Patient food consumption data obtained using food recall 24 hours form. Univariate data analysis to look at the frequency distribution of consumption levels, the level of adequacy, and acceptability of food served. The result of the research showed the tendency of the intake of food the patient is at the level of the deficit, because the patient is not able to spent the hospital food. The tendency of sufficient levels of nutrients patients are also at the level of the deficit, that can slow the healing process and increase the time of patient care in hospitals. Food acceptance measurement showed that food provided by hospital was well accepted. Consumption of food patients can be stimulated by increasing social atmosphere, good service, and provide a menu option or modify the menu to avoid boredom patients on hospital food served.   Keywords : nutrient consumption, food acceptance, cardiovascular disease

Abstract

Elementary School 10 Timpeh is one of the schools in the 3T area in Sungai Bulian, Timpeh District, Dharmasraya Regency, with a distance of 197 km from Padang City. SDN 10 Timpeh has a School Health Unit (SHU) but has been inactive, and the room has been converted into a warehouse. This activity aims to reactivate and optimize SHU functions at SDN 10 Timpeh. The first method was carried out through training activities for ten students who were selected to become cadres of little doctors from classes 3,4, and 5. The second method was done with lectures, discussions about clean and healthy behaviour for all students. The strengthening of the theory is also accompanied by stimulation of the affective and psycho-motor domains of students through the exercise of using soap and running water, giving students fruit and milk, as well as the practice of handling students who move to school by a cadre of little doctors who have been previously selected. Evaluation of this program is done through pre-test and post-test. After training and coaching, there was a significant increase in students' knowledge of the little doctor's subject matter by 10 points, and the Wilcoxon test results showed an increase in student knowledge. The students of SDN 10 Timpeh were enthusiastic about this activity. The advocacy management results were strengthened by the issuance of a headmaster decree on the control of the SHU and the appointment of a supervisor of the SHU as well as an explanation of his job description. It is expected that the Public Health Centre, Schools, and coaches will continue to carry out these SHU activities on a scheduled and periodic evaluation.

Abstract

The high rate of violence, abuse and sexual perversion among children in Indonesia is increasingly worrying. Sexual education has not yet been included in the academic curriculum in primary or secondary schools in Indonesia. Sexual education is still thematic and given when meeting the right moment that is not planned. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge about sexual problem prevention behavior for children using serial card education media. The activity was carried out at SDN 36 Gunung Sarik Padang, for 54 grade 6 students. The method of this activity was divided into several stages, namely brainstorming with the school principal, developing serial card education media, disseminating serial card media to schools, and sexual education using serial card media. to students. The paired data hypothesis analysis results obtained from the pre-test and post-test for students showed that sexual education using serial card media was effective in increasing students' knowledge of preventive behavior from various risks of violence, harassment, and sexual perversion. Continuous efforts are needed in shaping positive behaviors to prevent sexual problems in children, with the involvement of various parties, such as parents, teachers and peers, as well as policies from upstream in the form of the provision of an academic curriculum.

Abstract

COVID-19 cases in West Sumatra have shown a significant increase in the past month. To accelerate the handling of COVID-19, the government implemented Large-Scale Social Restrictions started on April 22, 2020. Enforcement is also carried out in Padang which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 107 positive confirmed cases with 12 deaths. Efforts to prevent the spread of this virus can be carried out through collaborative community service activities between educational institutions and urban villages in Padang City. One of these activities was community service activities held in Jati, East Padang District, Padang City, namely through educational activities using leafleat and posters as promotion media then also donating masks to improve people's healthy behavior. Promotional media were distributed to the public due to situations that make it impossible to carry out activities by gathering many people in one place. The activity went well, received a good response from the village head and all village officials. Media and donations were distributed by the village head especially for poor families and low access to information. Monitoring and evaluation were needed from the village and service providers in increasing the implementation of healthy behavior by the community.

Abstract

The prevalence of eating disorder among adolescents tend to increase worldwide, including in Indonesia. Some factors, such as mass media, peer influences, and body image, were associated with eating disorders. The study aims to determine the association of peer influences with eating disorders among adolescents. This study used a cross-sectional design that utilized a simple random sampling technique among senior high school students in Padang city. Data were collected through self-administration, and online questionnaires were given to 250 participants. The study found that 24.4% of adolescents risk eating disorders. Peer influences associated with eating disorders among adolescents (p-value < 0.05). Adolescents with peer influences had a risk of 2.519 times being eating disorders compared with no peer influences. Mass media, internet access, and body image had no association with eating disorders among adolescents. The current findings suggest that health care professionals should corporate with school institutions on health education to prevent eating disorders among adolescents.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Dekomposisi sampah di TPA (Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir) Air Dingin, Kota Padang menghasilkan polutan hidrogen sulfida (H2S) dan metana (CH4). Pajanan gas ini berpotensi mengakibatkan gangguan kesehatan pekerja di TPA. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi gas H2S dan CH4 serta menentukan apakah pajanan tersebut sudah berisiko terhadap kesehatan pekerja atau belum.Metode: Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian kuantitatif. Pengukuran konsentrasi polutan gas H2S dan CH4 dilakukan dengan menggunakan gas impinger selama dua hari di dua titik. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 orang. Data karakteristik responden didapatkan melalui kuisioner. Data diolah dengan menggunakan metode Analisis Risiko Kesehatan Lingkungan (ARKL) untuk menentukan karakterisasi risiko pada responden akibat pajanan polutan gas tersebut.Hasil: Nilai konsentrasi H2S dan CH4 berturut-turut adalah 8,056 mg/m3 dan 6,173 mg/m3 (titik 1) dan 10,259 mg/m3 dan 6,710 mg/m3 (titik 2). Nilai intake untuk pajanan H2S pada responden di kondisi realtime dan lifetime berturut-turut berada pada rentang 0,016 – 1,463 mg/kg.hari dan 0,076–2,195 mg/kg.hari. Sementara nilai intake untuk pajanan CH4 pada kondisi realtime dan lifetime berturut-turut berada pada rentang 0,012–1,121 mg/kg.hari dan 0,058 – 1,682 mg/kg.hari. Nilai RQ realtime dan lifetime untuk pajanan polutan gas H2S menghasilkan bahwa  100% responden  memiliki nilai  RQ>1 dan pajanan CH4 memiliki nilai  RQ<1.Simpulan: Nilai konsentrasi gas H2S sudah melewati baku mutu yang ditetapkan. Berdasarkan nilai RQ diketahui bahwa semua responden di TPA Air Dingin berpotensi mengalami gangguan kesehatan akibat pajanan H2S karena nilai RQ>1. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengelolaan risiko untuk meminimalisir potensi risiko gangguan kesehatan pada responden. ABSTRACT Title: Potential Risk of Health Problems Due to Exposure to CH4 and H2S Gases in Air Dingin Landfill Workers, Padang City Background: The decomposition of waste in  Air Dingin landfill, Padang City produces gaseous pollutants such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and methane (CH4). Exposure of these gases to workers has the potential to cause health problems. This study aims to determine the concentration of H2S and CH4 gases and determine whether the exposure is already risky to workers' health or not.Method: This research is classified as quantitative research. Measurement of H2S and CH4 concentrations was carried out using a gas impinger for two days at two points. The  respondents  number in this study was 30 people.. These data were processed using the environmental health risk analysis (EHRA) method. Result: The H2S and CH4 concentration values were 8.56 mg/m3 and 6.173 mg/m3 (point 1) and 10.259 mg/m3 and 6.710 mg/m3 (point 2) respectively. The intake value for H2S exposure to respondents  for real-time and lifetime were 0.016 – 1.463 mg/kg.day and 0.076 – 2.195 mg/kg.day. Meanwhile the intake value for CH4 exposure for real-time and lifetime were in the range 0.012 – 1.121 mg/kg.day and 0.058 – 1.682 mg/kg.day. The real-time and lifetime RQ values for H2S resulted in 100% of respondents having RQ values >1 and RQ values <1 for CH4 exposure.Conclusion: The concentration values of H2S gas have exceeded the established quality standards. Based on the RQ value, it is known that all respondents at Air Dingin Landfill have the potential to experience health problems. Therefore, risk management is needed to minimize the potential risk of health problems to respondents.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Stunting adalah kondisi gagal tumbuh pada anak balita akibat dari kekurangan gizi kronis sehingga anak lebih pendek dari standar anak usianya. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk mencegah stunting pada anak yakni dengan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap ibu melalui edukasi gizi. Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi gizi menggunakan media buku saku terhadap pengetahuan dan sikap ibu hamil tentang manajemen laktasi untuk pencegahan stunting Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi ekskperimen pre-test and post-test with control group. Sampel terdiri dari 40 orang ibu hamil di wilyah kerja Puskesmas Koto Panjang Ikua Koto yang dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji Paired Sample t-Test dan Independent Sample Test. Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan rata-rata skor pengetahuan dan sikap ibu hamil tentang manajemen laktasi setelah diberikan intervensi (p<0.05). Terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan terhadap perubahan pengetahuan dan sikap ibu hamil mengenai manajamen laktasi setelah diberikan intervensi berupa buku saku (p<0,05) Kesimpulan: Edukasi gizi menggunakan media buku saku berpengaruh terhadap perubahan pengetahuan dan sikap ibu hamil tentang manajemen laktasi untuk pencegahan stunting

Abstract

A person's food preferences can be influenced by various factors, including individual characteristics, food characteristics, and environmental characteristics. The study conducted aimed to determine the relationship between several factors, such as money allowance, food expenditure, parents' occupation, nutrition knowledge, food availability, and sensory appeal, and the food preferences of students in the Public Health Faculty at Andalas University. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted from June to July 2023. The sample consisted of 100 students who were selected using proportional stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires on money allowance, food expenditure, nutritional knowledge, food availability, sensory appeal, and food preferences. The chi-square test was used for data analysis. The study found that money allowance (p-value=0.030), food expenditure (p-value=0.001), and nutrition knowledge (p-value=0.009) were significantly related to students' food preferences. The father’s occupation (p=1,000), mother’s occupation (p=0.549), food availability (p=0,643), and sensory appeal (p=0.643) had no significant relationship with students' food preferences. It is recommended that students consider rational factors when making decisions about their food preferences. Keywords: food expenditure, food preferences, pocket money, sensory appeal.
