Abstract

The use of welding in industry today is very broad, including shipping, machinery, construction and others. The aim of this research was to study the welding results of two types of metal with different melting points, namely low carbon steel ST37 with brass filler and borax added during the welding process using OAW (Oxygent Acetyline Welding) welding. The specimen size is 170 mm long, 50 mm wide and 8 mm thick. As for the test method with the addition of borax, then look at the results of the number of porosity, weld defects and differences in tensile strength in each specimen by conducting penetrant liquid testing and tensile testing with ASTM E-8 standards. The results of the penetrant liquid test showed that welding ST 37 steel using borax as an additional material produced welding with the smallest porosity and even no defects at all compared to specimens without using borax. The results of the tensile test show that the addition of borax has a tensile strength value of 2000 kgf / mm². This value is greater than without the addition of borax.

Abstract

There is not much plastic welding currently done and not much research has been done on plastic welding. The purpose of this study was to study the use of welding variations used to join the thermoset polymer material. The thermoset polymer materials used are acrylic, melamine and bakelit with the test sample measuring 80mm in length, 30mm in width and 3mm in thickness. Variations in welding are used using hot gas welding, electric soldering and gas torches. The test method is carried out after welding to determine the porosity of the weld using a penetrant liquid. Hardness testing was also carried out. The best welding results are shown on acrylic material using electric solder, showing that the amount of porosity is the least, and has the highest hardness test.

Abstract

Plastic welding technique is a technique of gluing to workpieces, especially plastic materials. The aim of this research was to join the thermoplastic polymer material using an acetylene oxy welding. The connection method is by melting the electrodes on the workpiece so that the electrodes can fuse to the parent material. The materials used are Polyethylene (PE), Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and Polypropylene (PP) plastic sheets with the appropriate electrodes from their respective parents. After going through the welding process, the weld results are tested using a dye penetrant. The best results from the dye penetrant are then tested for hardness

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the corrosion penetration rate of low carbon steel with aluminium coating. The method used is the potentiodynamic method to determine the value of the corrosion rate. The corrosion medium used was HCl. The aluminium used is aluminium frame waste powder. The coating process is by dipping low carbon steel pipes into aluminium frame waste that had been liquefied in the Hot Dip Galvanizing (HDG) method of 700oC and immersion time of 45 seconds. The results of this study show that low carbon steel which has been coated with aluminum frame waste powder has a high corrosion rate which is proven to have a corrosion rate of 18,1808 mm/year. So that the corrosion rate is at an unacceptable level.

Abstract

Hot Dip Galvanization (HDG) is a method of plating steel by immersing liquid zinc. However, in this study, HDG was tried by dipping steel in a solution of cast aluminum waste, after being coated with galvanizing and graphene. Furthermore, the corrosion test is carried out using the tafel or polarization test aid. The aim of this research is to protect the corrosion attack on steel by means of HDG in a solution of cast aluminum waste, after being coated with galvanizing and graphene. The solution in the tafel test used NaCl solution. The results obtained were the least corrosion attacks on steel with a galvanic coating and graphene. Meanwhile, HDG with cast aluminum waste is not significant to protect corrosion on steel.

Abstract

This study aims to design the water tube for pure water namely a set of processing tools used to place the water using Autodesk Inventor 2016 software. The data which inputted is stainless steel SS 304 and SS 201, because both of them have the Cr and Ni elements, which will be used as tubes and the top and bottom caps. The results of running data are von mises stress, displacement, and safety factor. The output data were used to obtain the most efficient material and thickness variations between 1.5mm, 2mm, and 3mm. The most suitable and efficient result shown at 3mm thick SS 304 with the maximum value of von mises stress is 14.62 MPa, a maximum displacement of 0.013mm, and a safety factor of 15.

Abstract

One type of low carbon steel is A36 steel which is generally widely used in building and bridge construction. The weakness of the A36 is that it is susceptible to corrosion. The purpose of this thesis research is to provide a galvanic coating type ER-809 (Zinc Rich Cold) on the surface of A36 steel. The time of immersion or immersion in the galvanized solution varied for 30 seconds, 60 seconds and 1.5 minutes. Then the dry koroi test was carried out, which was heated to a temperature of 850 degrees Celsius with a holding time of 2 hours, 4 hours, and 6 hours. Furthermore, to find out the Corrosion Attack Rate (Corrotion Petration Rate / CPR) using the Weight Loss Method.

Abstract

Heat treatment carried out on steel materials will have an effect on the hardness and changes in metal structure in iron or steel. The addition of this hardness depends on the type of steel material used, temperature, and the cooling medium used such as oil, air, and water. In this study, the hardness of the iron cutting knife was increased through a heat treatment process to determine the effect of the hardness of the cutting knife on the result of cutting a 2 mm iron plate. The test object is a cutting knife which will be heated to a temperature of 850°C, cooled using SAE 35 oil. The test results show that the harder the cutting knife, the smaller the angle of inclination of the 2 mm plate..

Abstract

The main obstacle that UMKM SA has is limited production technology which is still manual so that workers take a long time and production results are not good because the thickness of the crackers is uneven and the sizes cannot match. So it is necessary to design a cracker-making machine by making a printing roll tool. The design method uses the manufacturing process method which is based on the cutting process and has a different perspective from the previous thing. Where the researcher analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the product to be made, has an overview of the product to be made by taking samples of material sources and data from the analysis that has been carried out directly to the resource persons as well as by analyzing the processes that have been carried out. The results of the study are from data analysis of the cracker dough cutting machine with the selected concept, it can be said to be effective with a faster time record in each test, good efficiency and effectiveness of the first tool requires an average time of 03:80 to 01:12 with cracker dough size 46x46x1 totaling 121 pieces.

Abstract

Practical work is a form of educational and vocational organization that is participated in by students so that students can work directly in the world of business, industry or fabrication. Practical work aims to prepare students to become productive people and be able to work directly in their respective fields. Students can also experience the production atmosphere experienced by professional engineering in a factory. This research process requires several materials and equipment as equipment in the design process as well as several methods. data collection and problem formulation in the form of morphological design. The method for repairing the screw extruder is re-poking the screw thread area which was proposed by the customer technician who said that the screw thread area was starting to wear out so it needed to be rejuvenated. Maintenance Preventive Maintenance. Re-priming or rejuvenating the threaded part because the threaded part has started to wear out. For example, in scheduling, for screw components until now there has been no regular maintenance or replacement to overcome damage. After the time of re-positioning the screw enters the turning stage to smooth the surface before the unevenness of the re-positioning or CV. Sumber Agung Widodo is a company that has complete manufacturing equipment that can produce various kinds of spare parts from various kinds of production machines. Various problems that often occur have an impact on the ongoing production process. Some of the causes include not only material factors, but human resource factors also influence production quality.
