Abstract

This study aims to enhance students' writing abilities in recount texts at the SD School of Life Lebah Putih's fourth grade. This study employs a quasi-experimental design to investigate the effectiveness of the genre-based approach in improving students' writing skills in recount text. Data obtained pre-test and post-test. it can be inferred from the research findings and discussion that the pupils' mean score growth between the pre- and post-test served as evidence. The pre-test mean score for the students was 66.84, which was categorized as fairly good, whereas the post-test mean score was higher at 79.36, which was categorized as excellent. Additionally, the data analysis revealed that the t-test value was greater than the value in the t-test table (11.050>1,711). It implies that the difference was substantial. H1 was approved whereas H0 was disapproved. In other words, the employment of a genre-based approach (GBA) can help students write recount texts more effectively.

Abstract

With so much pollution that can cause various diseases, the need for cleaning supplies such as soap is also increasing. Good quality soap is determined by the raw materials used. Palm oil is a potential raw material for soap production. This is because lauric acid and vitamin E, which come from plants and function as antioxidants, are found in palm oil. Therefore, the community needs to be introduced to creative/innovative ideas to support government activities. One of them is PHBS (Clean and Healthy Lifestyle) in the community by introducing the manufacture of bar soap made from cooking oil which is easy to make and practiced as a form of awareness of community hygiene where there is no need to buy soap because it can be made yourself at an affordable price. RW 09 in the Ngadirejo Kartasura Village is the right target for community service because it is in a dense, busy, active area with lots of routine activities and many people who have businesses and have potential. The aim of this training was to engage local community groups with the ability to make their own bar soap. The implementation method is participatory coaching through the learning by doing method so that it is true that the people's group has been able to create the product. The results of the training showed that the training participants were able to mix 500 grams of palm cooking oil, 65 grams of NaOH, and 155 grams of Aquades water using a measuring cup to get solid bar soap and good results. Community creativity development training uses a touch of packaging innovation so that products sell well in the market and can be a follow-up to the next community service.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Research on English language teaching in primary school contexts has increasingly emphasized the importance of early communicative and intercultural learning. However, limited studies have examined how supplementary English programs function as micro-level language policy spaces in developing intercultural communicative competence (ICC). Situated in the Indonesian early EFL context, where English at the primary level is optional and unevenly implemented, this study investigates an extra-hour English Conversation Program in a private primary school. This article reports a qualitative case study that explores how the program operates as a micro-level language policy space in shaping students’ intercultural communicative competence, as well as their linguistic development and learning motivation. It also examines how students experience the program differently, and how teacher agency, institutional practices, and socio-cultural factors mediate participation, equity, and sustainability. Data were collected through classroom observations, teacher interviews, and analysis of instructional practices. The findings indicate that the program creates meaningful opportunities for early intercultural encounters through interactive speaking activities and exposure to authentic language use, fostering students’ confidence, willingness to communicate, and openness to cultural diversity. However, students’ participation is uneven, influenced by prior English exposure, teacher mediation, and institutional support. This study argues that the development of intercultural communicative competence in early EFL classrooms is not solely a result of increased language exposure but is shaped by locally enacted language policies and everyday classroom practices. The findings highlight the importance of designing equitable and sustainable supplementary programs to support ICC development in primary EFL contexts.

Abstract

This study explores teacher talk and classroom discourse in Indonesian EFL teaching from an intercultural perspective. Using classroom discourse analysis, the study examines how teacher talk structures classroom interaction and reflects sociocultural norms embedded in instructional communication. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through audio-recorded classroom observations supported by field notes. The recorded interactions were transcribed verbatim and analyzed to identify interactional patterns, functions of teacher talk, and intercultural features within classroom discourse. The findings indicate that classroom interaction was predominantly teacher-initiated and largely followed the Initiation–Response–Feedback (IRF) pattern. Teacher talks primarily functioned to manage classroom activities, deliver instruction, and evaluate student responses, while opportunities for extended student participation remained limited. From an intercultural perspective, classroom discourse reflected cultural values related to respect for authority, politeness, and harmony, which influenced turn-taking practices and students’ reluctance to initiate interaction. The study highlights that teacher talk functions not only as a pedagogical tool but also as a culturally situated practice, and emphasizes the importance of reflective teacher awareness in fostering more dialogic and interculturally responsive EFL classroom discourse.

Abstract

The lack of motivation and preparation among some students in the French language education program at the University of Lampung in taking the DELF test is a serious problem. This program is designed to improve students' competence in the four main skills tested in DELF: Compréhension orale (listening), Compréhension écrite (reading), Production orale (speaking), and Production écrite (writing). Through a systematic approach, students will be equipped with a deep understanding of the exam format, question-answering techniques, and effective time management strategies. The simulations, which are provided regularly and routinely, have proven to help students achieve higher scores and a better understanding of DELF questions. In the simulations that have taken place, there has been a significant increase in the number of students who passed the post-test compared to the pre-test. In line with the goal of preparing students, the DELF simulations can be said to have been successful in preparing students to take the DELF exam in the November 2025 session.
