Abstract

The cytotoxicity with Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) extract of red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lamk.) have been done. The ethanol and n-hexana extracts were evaluated for cytotoxicities. The n-hexane extract demonstrated higher cytotoxic activity than the ethanol extract, with 54% death in concentration 400 ?g/mL. The n-hexane extract was separated by column chromatography, eluting with a gradient of n-hexane-EtOAc to had an active fraction. The cytotoxicity of an active fraction showed with LC50 values of 138,05 µg/mL. Identification of this fraction exhibited three compounds of fatty acid were palmitic acid, oleic acid, and miristic acid

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian terhadap reaksi adisi metanol pada ?-kariofilena dengan katalis BF3.O(C2H5)2dalam medium metanol. Reaksi dilakukan pada suhu 45oC, 55oC, dan 65oC. Waktu reaksi 3 jam dilakukan pada suhu 45oC dan 55oC, sedangkan waktu reaksi 2, 3, 4 dan 6 jam dilakukan pada suhu 65oC. Ekstrak dianalisis dengan Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT) dan Kromatografi Gas  (GC). Identifikasi produk dominan dilakukan dengan Spektroskopi Infra Merah (IR) dan Kromatografi Gas-Spektroskopi Massa (GC-MS). Hasil analisis GC menunjukkan bahwa reaksi pada suhu 65oC dengan waktu reaksi 4 jam menghasilkan produk utama sebesar 33,67%. Identifikasi produk utama merupakan senyawa ?-kariofilena metal eter.
