Abstract

This article examines how early mathematical concepts that fit the early childhood cognitive development. The introduction of early mathematical concepts becomes important for early childhood to provide various stimuli and foster childrens love of mathematics. The introduction of mathematics is not just about numeracy and formulas, but more important is the cultivation of the concept of mathematics. If early childhood has known let alone understand the concept of mathematics well, will certainly have a positive impact on subsequent developments. There are three points in this article related to early mathematical concepts that need to be introduced for early childhood: (1) matching and discriminating, comparing and contrasting, (2) classifying, sorting and grouping, (3) ordering, sequence and seriesation.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemics have caused a lot of stressors for parents. Apart from doing daily activities, parents also have to take care of their children and accompany them to study. The number of stressors can lead to toxic behavior in parenting. This study aims to measure the level of toxicity in parenting behavior and coping strategies adopted by parents. This study uses quantitative descriptive methods to measure toxic levels in parenting behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 568 parents from Banjarmasin and Yogyakarta participated in this study. The survey results show that several factors can trigger parenting stress during the COVID-19 pandemic, namely worsening economic conditions, delinquent children, excessive anxiety, accumulated daily hassles, growing family demands, and disputes with spouses. However, some of these stressors do not lead to toxic parenting. The results showed that 97.79% of respondents from Banjarmasin and 95.29% from Yogyakarta showed a low toxic level. The remaining 2.21% of respondents in Banjarmasin and 4.71% of respondents in Yogyakarta indicated a moderate toxic level. Coping strategies are crucial for neutralizing stress. There are several strategies applied, namely trying to consider a problem is God's test, and there is a positive side to every problem; trying to address the source of stress and solving it; Withdrawing and finding individual time; looking for social support from the family and others; crying and releasing it by doing favorite things and capitulate and get back the problem. This Research is expected to be a reference for parents in choosing coping strategies to manage the stress they feel in parenting during the pandemic. Abstract

Community involvement is key to improving the nutrition, sanitation, and health conditions of street children. This study examines the role of nutrition, sanitation, and health interventions involving community participation for street children. In the context of this research, a community-based participatory approach was used at Al-Ajyb Child Friendly School, Sudimampir Market, Banjarmasin City. This research explores the linkages between nutrition, sanitation, and health for street children and promotes the importance of early education and community involvement in meeting their needs. Community-Based Participatory Research was used in this study, involving various stakeholders. The findings of the study revealed various challenges faced by street children, such as nutrition, sanitation, and limited access to education and health services. Additionally, the study highlighted the important role of community-based interventions in promoting healthy behavior and raising awareness of the importance of nutrition and sanitation. Thus, collaboration between various parties is expected to translate the study findings into concrete actions aimed at improving the welfare of street children and enhancing their future prospects.

Abstract

This study is centered around enhancing nutrition and sanitation interventions by involving the community for the benefit of street children. The research takes place through community-based participatory research at the Al-Ajyb Child-Friendly School located in Pasar Sudimampir, Banjarmasin. The study investigates the interconnectedness of nutrition, sanitation, and health concerning street children and underscores the significance of early education and community engagement to address their distinct needs. Employing a blend of online and offline activities, the research brought together diverse stakeholders, including the Al-Ajyb Foundation, Banjarmasin Health Office, and the National Amil Zakat Agency of South Kalimantan Province, alongside educators and students from Al-Ajyb School. It delves into the challenges confronted by street children, encompassing issues of nutrition, hygiene, and constrained educational access. The research also spotlights the role of community-based interventions in fostering healthy behavior and enhancing awareness regarding the pivotal role of nutrition and sanitation. The study concludes with a pledge for collaborative endeavors among stakeholders to translate findings into tangible measures aimed at ameliorating the well-being and prospects of street children within the Sudimampir Market locality

Abstract

Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dampak pemanfaatan media papan pola terhadap aktifitas guru, aktifitas anak dan kemampuan kognitif anak terkait pembelajaran pola ABCD-ABCD. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus,. Subjek penelitian adalah anak usia 5-6 tahun di Tk Aisyiah 13 Banjarmasin  yang berjumlah 15  anak (5 laki-laki dan 10 perempuan). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan tes. Analisis data yang digunakan merupakan kombinasi pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Pendekatan kualitatif terkait pemaknaan dalam proses sebelum dan sesudah dilakukannya tindakan. Sedangkan pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan untuk menghitung rerata hasil belajar anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pada aktifitas guru, aktifitas anak, dan kemampuan kognitif anak. Di akhir siklus II aktifitas guru berada pada angka 87,5%, aktifitas anak sebesar 100%, sedangkan  kemampuan mengurutkan pola ABCD-ABCD untuk kategori berkembang sesuai harapan sebesar 86,67%. Peningkatan ini membuktikan  bahwa media papan pola memberikan dampak yang signifikan dalam menunjang keberhasilan belajar anak. Media papan pola ini mampu menjadi jembatan antara guru dan anak, dimana guru mendapatkan kemudahan dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran. Selain itu, media papan pola ini juga mendorong anak bertindak aktif dalam kegiatan di kelasnya yang pada akhirnya meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir logis anak.

Abstract

Early childhood sexuality education is essential for safeguarding young children against inappropriate sexual content and potential abuse. This study underscores the importance of such education within the context of Muslim teachers. The primary objective of this research is to gain insights into the practical implementation of sexuality education during early childhood. The study encompasses the participation of 248 Muslim early childhood teachers. By collecting open-ended inquiries, analyzing responses verbatim, and categorizing the results, the research illuminates the multifaceted responsibilities of these teachers. Their roles include providing guidance on toileting, mitigating self-touch behaviors, addressing sexual curiosity, promoting genital health and hygiene, preventing sexual harassment, and recognizing the spectrum of gender roles. The findings highlight the urgency of developing a well-structured curriculum, fostering collaboration between parents and teachers, providing specialized teacher training, promoting a positive public perception of sexuality education, and ensuring substantial government involvement in early childhood sexual education.

Abstract

Teachers have abilities that play an important role in carrying out their duties, and their level of competence often determines the success of education. In an effort to meet competency standards, teachers are expected to have the knowledge and skills appropriate to their field. However, there are still gaps in this regard, especially in aspects such as pedagogic, professional, personal and social competencies. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the competencies of PAUD teachers who are not S1 PAUD education graduates in two institutions in Banjarmasin City, as well as identify factors that influence their competencies. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that some teachers still face difficulties in preparing lesson plans independently, which has an impact on the monotony of the learning process. In addition, there are teachers who have not fully fulfilled aspects of social competence.

Abstract

Early Quranic education is essential, and therefore, an appropriate method is needed to teach it. One of the methods used is the Ummi Method. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research subjects are the ustadz, ustadzah, and students at Rumah Qur'an Baiturrahmah Unit 0003 Teluk Tiram. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The research findings indicate that the implementation of the Ummi Method covers three main aspects: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Planning includes teacher and prospective teacher training, Ummi certification, and internship programs for prospective teachers. The implementation consists of seven stages: opening, apperception, concept introduction, concept understanding, skills development, evaluation, and closing. Additionally, other Islamic educational teachings, such as daily prayers, fiqh materials, short hadiths, and Asma Ul-Husna, are introduced to children. The evaluation is divided into three categories: daily evaluation, book level progression evaluation, and end-of-semester evaluation. The result achieved is an improvement in the ability of early childhood students to read the Quran. Factors supporting the planning of the Ummi Method in Quranic education include teacher and prospective teacher training, Ummi certification, established learning procedures, and clear time management. Factors supporting the implementation of the Ummi Method include an easily followed rhythm for the children. In terms of evaluation, the support factor is the clear progress report. The only obstacle found is in the implementation phase, which is the lack of adequate space, as one group must study in the terrace.

Abstract

This study developed and evaluated an Islamic-based flipped learning model for early childhood sexuality education in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The model integrates animated videos grounded in Islamic principles, addressing topics of body autonomy, privacy, and personal safety. Sixteen teachers and 96 children (aged 5–6) from four kindergartens participated. Using the ADDIE framework, the learning materials were designed and validated by experts (content validity = 4.8; media validity = 4.5). A quasi-experimental design compared the flipped learning model (47 children) with conventional storytelling using picture books (49 children). Both groups showed significant improvements between pretest and posttest (Wilcoxon Signed-Rank, p < 0.001). However, the experimental group outperformed the control group with higher posttest scores (M = 96.70 vs. 72.76; Mann-Whitney U = 102.000, Z = -7.933, p < 0.001, r = 0.81). These findings demonstrate that integrating Islamic values into a flipped learning approach, supported by parental involvement, is more effective than traditional methods. The model provides a culturally appropriate strategy for strengthening child protection and improving early sexuality education in Muslim-majority contexts.

Abstract

Inclusive early childhood education (ECED) ensures all children, including those with special needs, have access to a safe learning environment. This study examines the implementation of safety policies in inclusive ECED institutions in Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru using a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observations, following stages of participant selection, interviews, transcription, coding, theme development, and interpretation. Findings indicate that while safety policies are implemented, challenges remain in infrastructure, teacher training, and community awareness. Limited resources, inadequate facilities, and low parental understanding hinder inclusivity. However, teacher training and policy adaptation have improved inclusive practices. To enhance implementation, stronger government support is needed in funding, regulations, and public awareness. Key recommendations include (1) allocating budgets for inclusive infrastructure, (2) mandating specialized teacher training, (3) integrating community engagement programs, and (4) establishing monitoring mechanisms. These measures can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
