Abstract

This research aims to design a hybrid work model with a task-characteristic autonomy job design. Remote work or Work from Anywhere (WFA) is widely used, as the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated this method. For some people, the WFA method is enjoyable because it can provide freedom to organize work methods, allowing for high work autonomy. However, some people also feel that working remotely creates a feeling of isolation and boredom and reduces job satisfaction. The hybrid method will increase work autonomy, work-life balance, and job satisfaction. This research is aimed at employees in Jakarta and surrounding areas who can work hybrid. The research population is difficult to calculate, so the sampling method is purposive, and the sampling technique is convenience method. Hypothesis testing was done using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The research results prove that applying the hybrid method can significantly increase job satisfaction by fully mediating the task characteristic autonomy and the work-life balance variables. Therefore, applying the Hybrid method is an option because, in the next decade, the world of work will increasingly be dominated by Gen Y and Gen Z.

Abstract

The rising concern of global warming has spurred numerous organizations and companies worldwide to adopt green business strategies, which integrate environmental management with Human Resource Management (HRM), notably through implementing Green HRM (GHRM). The Indonesian government has also promoted eco-green applications in support of environmental sustainability in various government institutions, including state-owned banks, as a pioneer in the GHRM program. The research evaluated the influence of green training and development on organizational commitment among employees at a state-owned bank. The research raised the novelty by modifying indicators that were relevant to banking activity. Additionally, it examined the role of green behavior as a mediating factor in the relationship between green training and organizational commitment. The research involved 200 employees from the head office of a state-owned bank, using non-probability and convenience sampling methods. Then, data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and the Smart PLS 3.0 software. The findings indicate that green training and development significantly influence green behavior, substantially enhancing organizational commitment. A shift towards a more environmentally conscious work culture strengthens employees’ commitment. The management of the state-owned bank, particularly the HRM departments, is advised to focus on enhancing and implementing GHRM practices. The practices include integrating green training and development into their in-person and online programs to promote green behavior and positively impact employee organizational commitment. The research underscores the mediating role of green behavior in the relationship between green training and organizational commitment, although the direct effects are more pronounced than indirect ones.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the quality of life of female factory workers that is hypothesized as affected by work-family conflict and job satisfaction and moderated by perceived organizational support and labor union support. The respondents of the research are female factory workers who are already married and have children, in which 158 respondents are from Jabodetabek and 66 are from Batam. The result shows that work-family conflict significantly decreases quality of life, and perceived organizational support also has a significant positive moderating effect toward quality of life. The quality of life is affected by job satisfaction and work-family conflict but not moderated by labor union support. This research describes that although the work-family conflict of female factory workers has no influence on job satisfaction but it reduces the quality of life directly with the result that job satisfaction is not an intervening variable.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of job characteristics (“JCM”), flexible work arrangements (“FWA”), and work-life balance (“WLB”) on job satisfaction (“JS”) of Public Accounting Firm (“KAP”) workers in DKI Jakarta and its surrounding areas (“Jabodetabek”). Apart from that, this research also aimed to determine the mediating role of work-life balance on job characteristics and flexible work arrangements' influence on job satisfaction. This research was conducted by surveying 123 KAP workers in the Jabodetabek area who are currently and/or have worked with FWA and have worked at KAP for at least a year. This research uses a non-probability sampling method—purposive sampling, with a convenience sampling technique. JCM has a significant positive influence on WLB and JS, both directly and through WLB mediation. Meanwhile, FWA does not have a significant positive influence on WLB and JS, either directly or through WLB mediation. JCM significantly increases JS and WLB for KAP workers. JCM can also be more potent in improving JS directly, compared to through WLB mediation. However, the most significant variable that can increase job satisfaction of KAP workers is WLB. Therefore, KAP management should emphasize and pay more attention to the WLB of their workers and the JCM of their work, including the JCM dimensions of KAP work. This research provides an explanation of the influence of the research variables JCM, FWA, WLB, and JS , where currently, no research has provided results on the influence of these variables on similar related research subjects.

Abstract

Motivation arising due to the need can be a factor that increases continuance com-mitment to an organization, which is expected to have an effect on the improvement of the quality of life. This research was conducted on 126 female factory workers who are already married and have children. This study aims to examine the mediating effect of life complexity and dynamic and work-life conflict on the effect of commit-ment on continuance commitment and quality of life of the respondents. The results could not prove the significant influence of motivation on the quality of life, either directly or through the mediation of life complexity and dynamic, work life conflict and continuance commitment. Despite a high-perceived value, motivation has no significant positive effect on the quality of life of female factory workers. Other re-sults found in this study show the direct influence of motivation in improving con-tinuance commitment, in which the influence is significant and strong. Meanwhile, life complexity, dynamics, and work-life conflict, as the mediating factors, also have significantly and positively weak influence.
