Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pelatihan kepada guru matematika SMP untuk mengembangkan instrumen tes matematika SMP. Peserta pelatihan ini terdiri atas 12 guru dari 4 sekolah yaitu SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Godean, SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping, SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Minggir, dan SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Depok, Kabupaten Sleman, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Godean. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian adalah melalui ceramah, diskusi, dan proyek. Pada kegiatan ceramah pemateri meyampaikan materi tentang teknik penambangan instrumen penilaian sesuai dengan prosedur yang baku dilanjutkan dengan diskusi. Setelah diskusi, peserta pelatihan megerjakan tugas proyek berupa menyusun instrument tes mata pelajaran matematika SMP, menganalisis secara kualitatif, mengujicobakannya, dan menganalisis berdasar data empirik. Melalui pelatihan ini peserta memeroleh keterampilan dalam mengembangkan instrument penilaian tes matematika SMP. Kegiatan ini telah menghasilkan perangkat instrument tes pilihan ganda untuk mata pelajaran matematika SMP untuk materi perbandingan, bangun datar, dan   hubungan antar sudut yang terstandar.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) mengembangkan tes untuk mengukur higher thinking skills siswa kelas VIII SMP/MTs pada materi statistika dan (2) mengetahui karakteristik instrumen tes tersebut. Dengan proses pengembangan analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi, penelitian ini merupakan studi pengembangan dengan paradigma pengembangan ADDIE. Tes yang dikembangkan terdiri atas 10 butir soal pilihan ganda dan 5 butir soal uraian yang telah divalidasi oleh ahli. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan deskriptif. Subjek uji coba yaitu 30 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Berbah. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba menunjukkan rata-rata indeks kesukaran butir-butir soal pilihan ganda adalah 0,44 (moderate) sedangkan rata-rata indeks kesukaran soal uraian adalah 0,35 (moderate). Rata-rata daya beda butir soal pilihan ganda adalah 0,40 (acceptable) dan daya beda untuk soal uraian adalah 0,47 (acceptable). Koefisien reliabilitas instrumen tes soal pilihan ganda dan uraian berturut-turut adalah 0,85 dan 0,74 dengan kriteria sangat tinggi. Dengan demikian, tes yang dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan untuk mengukur higher thinking skills siswa kelas VIII SMP/MTs pada materi statistika.

Abstract

This research is based on the low mathematics learning outcomes of class IIB students at SD Negeri Pakel. This issue arises because students still do not fully understand the material presented and the teaching methods used are insufficiently varied. This study aims to describe the learning process through the application of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) model and to analyze the learning outcomes of students after the implementation of this teaching model. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR), consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 28 students from class IIB at SD Negeri Pakel, comprising 13 boys and 15 girls. The object of this research is the mathematics learning outcomes through the use of the TGT model. Data collection techniques in this study included observation, tests, and documentation. Data analysis techniques involved qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results showed that in the initial pre-cycle condition, only 3 out of 28 students, or 11%, scored ?70. In the first cycle, this increased to 12 students, or 43%, and in the second cycle, it further increased to 26 students, or 93%, who achieved the minimum completeness criteria. Teacher and student activities also improved from the first to the second cycle. Teacher activity in the first cycle was 73% and increased to 92% in the second cycle. Meanwhile, student activity in the first cycle was 79% and increased to 91% in the second cycle. Thus, the implementation of the TGT learning model had a positive impact on students' mathematics learning outcomes. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini didasari oleh rendahnya hasil belajar Matematika siswa kelas IIB SD Negeri Pakel. Hal ini terjadi karena masih belum pahamnya siswa terhadap materi yang disampaikan dan model pembelajaran yang digunakan masih kurang bervariasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran dengan penerapan model Team Games Tournament (TGT) serta menganalisis hasil belajar siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran tersebut. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IIB SD Negeri Pakel yang berjumlah 28 dengan rincian 13 laki-laki dan 15 perempuan. Sedangkan objek penelitian ini adalah hasil belajar matematika melalui penggunaan model TGT. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis data kualitatif dan analisis data kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pada kondisi awal prasiklus hanya 3 dari 28 siswa atau 11% yang memperoleh nilai ?70. Pada siklus I meningkat menjadi 12 siswa atau 43% kemudian pada siklus II juga meningkat menjadi 26 siswa atau 93% yang telah tuntas dan mencapai KKTP. Aktivitas guru dan siswa juga mrningkat dari siklus I ke siklus II. Aktivias guru pada siklus I sebesar 73% dan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 92%. Sedangkan aktivitas siswa pada siklus I sebesar 79% dan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 91%. Dengan demikian penerapan model pembelajaran TGT memberikan dampak positif terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa.

Abstract

Variations in competence and confidence among higher education students in mathematical literacy, numeracy, and logical thinking are crucial for developing critical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and the application of quantitative knowledge in both academic and real-world contexts. However, limited research has explored how students from different academic disciplines vary in their competence, confidence, and challenges related to these fundamental areas. This gap in the literature highlights the need for a comprehensive examination of such variations across diverse higher education fields. This study aims to compare the levels of mathematical literacy, numeracy, and logical thinking among university students, focusing on their knowledge, confidence, and the challenges they face. A comprehensive survey was employed, covering several dimensions of mathematical literacy, such as real-world applications of mathematics, numeracy comprehension, numerical self-confidence, and the role of emotions in logical thinking. Drawing on responses from Indonesian university students, the study reveals that students generally perceive their abilities as moderate to good, though significant differences are evident across academic disciplines and levels of study. A notable correlation was found between the focus of students' academic programs and their mathematics literacy, with certain disciplines demonstrating higher competency levels. The findings highlight the importance of integrating practical applications and emotional intelligence into mathematics education to foster greater confidence, knowledge, and engagement. This research contributes valuable insights into mathematical literacy and proposes new strategies to improve teaching practices and curricula. The comparative analysis offers a broader perspective, essential for shaping future assessments in mathematics, logical reasoning, and numeracy literacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop teaching material in the form of Android-based application for junior high school mathematics subjects in statistical material that are integrated with WhatsApp social media platform. The procedure for developing teaching materials was carried out through the stages of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The platform used to develop teaching material was MIT App Inventor. The teaching materials developed have been validated by two media experts and material experts. The trial of teaching material was carried out to educators and prospective mathematics educators in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and students at Depok 3 State Junior High School. This study has succeeded in developing Android-based teaching materials for junior high school mathematics subjects in valid and effective statistical material. The menus contained in this application consist of material and competency test. On the competency test menu, students can do the test and after completion, the application will display the score of the test results. What interesting about this application, the test results can be sent to the teacher via WhatsApp.

Abstract

This study is part of developing a four-tier online diagnostic test for geometry in junior high schools in Indonesia. After wrote the items and validated by experts, items were tested on 249 students in Yogyakarta, one of the Special Regions in Indonesia.  This study aims to identify the characteristics of a four-tier online diagnostic test, from a classical test theory (CTT) perspective. This test contains 20 items of four-tier multiple choice with four options. The students’ responses were analyzed using Item and Test Analysis (ITEMAN) package. Item difficulty index, discriminant index, and reliability coefficient were three attributes analyzed. The average of item difficulty index is 0.384 (moderate category). The average item discriminant index is 0.513 (good category). The estimation of the reliability coefficient using the Cronbach-Alpha formula is 0.706 (good category).

Abstract

An appropriate learning method can improve students’ learning achievement. The cooperative learning method encourages students to improve their mathematics learning achievement. Mathematics learning achievement is one indicator of achieving learning objectives. Mathematics is an important lesson to be learned and must be mastered by students. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect size of the relationship between Cooperative learning method and mathematics learning achievement through meta-analysis quantitative research approach. In this research, the cooperative learning method serves as an independent variable, and mathematics learning achievement serves as the dependent variable. The data was obtained from the online database search results on Google Scholar in 2010-2020. The sample used was 16 research publications that have met the specified criteria. The data analysis technique used was the meta-analysis quantitative approach with correlation meta-analysis. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship (level of 5%) between the cooperative learning method and students’ mathematics learning achievement. The average effect size value was 0.15 in the range of 0.04 to 0.27 which was included in the low category. These results have proven the consistency of the findings of previous research.

Abstract

Mathematics is regarded as one of the most important lessons that any student must learn. Internal and external factors, in general, influence students' mathematics learning achievement. One of the internal factor variables is students’ learning interest in mathematics. Many research publications show that the variable of interest is strongly related to mathematics learning achievement, so this study aims to prove and quantify the size of the relationship between mathematics learning interest and mathematics learning achievement using quantitative meta-analysis research approaches. The independent variable is student learning interest, and the dependent variable is mathematical learning achievement. The data was acquired from an online database search on Google Scholar within the 2009 to 2019 timeframe. Thirty research publications that satisfied the required criteria were utilized as the sample. Data analysis uses a quantitative meta-analysis approach with a correlation meta-analysis. The findings revealed a favorable and substantial (5% significance level) link between learning interest and student mathematics learning achievement. The average weight value of effect size was 0.540 in the range of 0.430 to 0.640 in the medium category. These findings have demonstrated the consistency of previous researchers' conclusions.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy and mathematical logical thinking have a significant relationship in mathematics learning. Therefore, the study of this literacy examines the relationship between literacy, numeracy, and the development of students' logical thinking in the domain of mathematics education. This research aims to delineate the impact of numeracy literacy and logical thinking in shaping students' abilities to understand and apply logical principles in the context of mathematics, given the fundamental importance of literacy and numeracy skills. In this study, a literature review is employed to examine the relationship between literacy, numeracy, and logical thinking in the context of mathematics. The methodology used involves data collection, review processes, and in-depth analysis of scholarly articles sourced from Google Scholar, JSTOR, and PubMed. A total of 105 articles were analysed and categorized into the contexts of literacy, numeracy, and logical thinking in the context of mathematics. The research findings indicate the complexity of the interrelationship between literacy, numeracy, and logical thinking in mathematics education. This research contributes to offering insights into numeracy literacy and logical thinking for educators, researchers, and policymakers interested in enhancing the quality of mathematics education.
