Abstract

Harvest and post-harvest processes are crucial in agriculture, with ozone and irradiation technologies offering sustainable solutions to extend shelf life, reduce spoilage, and enhance food security and competitiveness. The research focuses on determining ozone's impact on vegetable freshness, providing implementation recommendations. Pattimura University's lab experiment on Gnetum gnemon L. leaves evaluates ozone tech for vegetable preservation. Factors include ozone dosage and treatment duration. Data will undergo univariate and SWOT analysis. Research findings indicate that applying ozone at 3 ppm for 25 minutes preserves Gnetum gnemon L. freshness. Implementing ozone in Ambon's food resilience involves education, infrastructure, certification, marketing, and government support.

Abstract

On April 6, 2022, the number of new Covid-19 cases reached 2,400 within a span of 7 days. It's anticipated that this figure will decrease as human immunity strengthens. Comorbidities in infected individuals might contribute to a decline in the immune system. In the Covid-19 pandemic era, it's crucial to implement education focusing on healthy behavior changes, utilizing a risk communication approach in prevention, treatment, and recovery stages in environments susceptible to malaria within the village community of Pulau Osi. The education program aims to enhance public understanding of the health risks and threats, empowering them to take appropriate actions to shield themselves from potential health issues. Employing Project-Based Learning as the approach for pest control education, trained JUMANTIK agents possess the necessary knowledge and skills to prevent malaria.

Abstract

This study originates from the rapid growth of modern retail in rural areas, affecting the sustainability of small kiosks in Piru Village, West Seram District, West Seram Regency. The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of minimarket presence on kiosk income and identify local traders’ adaptation strategies. Using a quantitative descriptive approach through observation, interviews, and documentation involving 12 kiosks and 40 consumers, the results indicate a 61.9% decline in kiosk income and a shift in consumer behavior toward weekly shopping at minimarkets. Traders adapt by diversifying products and extending operational hours, though with limited effect. The study highlights the importance of local economic protection through partnerships between small enterprises and modern retail. Local governments are encouraged to establish fair retail zoning and community-based market integration to sustain socio-economic balance.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low student engagement in Geography learning at SMA Negeri 13 Buru Selatan, Kecamatan Kepala Madan. The aim was to determine the extent to which learning interest influences students’ academic achievement. The research employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto method. The sample consisted of 30 students from grades X and XI, selected through purposive sampling. Research instruments included questionnaires on learning interest and learning outcomes, analyzed using simple regression, Pearson correlation, t-test, and ANOVA. Findings revealed that learning interest was categorized as moderate to high with an average score of 47.7 out of 55. Students’ learning outcomes were also considered good with an average score of 39.37 out of 45. Regression analysis yielded the equation Y = 23.722 + 0.338X with a significance value of 0.046 (<0.05), indicating a significant influence of learning interest on achievement. These results highlight the importance of interactive and contextual teaching strategies that enhance participation, attention, and curiosity. The implication is that teachers should implement engaging methods, schools need to provide supportive learning environments, and students are encouraged to strengthen their intrinsic motivation to achieve optimal outcomes

Abstract

The availability of natural resources such as sand and gravel plays a crucial role in supporting rural infrastructure development. However, their use often raises a dilemma between construction needs and environmental sustainability. This study aims to describe the utilization process of sand and gravel in Nusarua Village, Fena-Fafan District, South Buru Regency, and to examine its impact on the community’s social life and environment. A qualitative field research method was applied, involving observation, interviews, and documentation with both mining participants and affected villagers. The findings indicate that sand and gravel extraction provides significant economic benefits by increasing household income and supplying essential materials for housing and village infrastructure. On the other hand, it causes negative impacts such as environmental degradation, landslide risks, vegetation loss, and threats to community safety. These results highlight the necessity for wiser natural resource management through village government oversight and community awareness. The study recommends adopting sustainable utilization strategies so that development can continue without sacrificing environmental balance

Abstract

Land use changes in coastal areas are increasingly complex due to population growth, economic activities, and tourism development. This condition is evident in Liang Beach, Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency, where land conversion pressures occur between natural ecosystems and development needs. This study aims to identify and analyze land use change dynamics during 2021–2024. The research employed a quantitative-descriptive approach using Google Earth Pro satellite imagery combined with field observations at ten coordinate points. The findings reveal a decline in natural vegetation from 45% to 30%, an increase in economic-use land from 15% to 25%, and the expansion of tourism areas from 10% to 20%. Water bodies and open land decreased by 2–3%. These results highlight a spatial shift from ecological to economic functions, implying higher abrasion risks, biodiversity loss, and potential stakeholder conflicts. The study concludes that integrated coastal management is crucial, requiring policy alignment, mapping technology, and community involvement to sustain ecological and socio-economic balance. It recommends adopting environmentally adaptive spatial planning and sustainable tourism strategies for Liang Beach
