Abstract

The present study investigate the feasibility of absorption chiller utilization as part of trigeneration system that possibly applied in sub-tropical country building. Trigeneration is refer to the heat utilisation from electric generator (combined heat and power, CHP) to generate absorption chiller in order to produce chilled water for air conditioning system (combined cooling, heat and power, CCHP). Compare to the vapour compression system, absorption chiller that is mainly generated by heat waste, promised benefit economically and environmentally. Overall efficiency of CCHP can reach 71 % and possibly reducing emission until 146709.07 kg CO2. Economic analysis using the Payback period methodology has shown that the CCHP would produce a return on investment of 2.6 years. Improvements absorption chiller and support from government are expected to lead to increased return on investment and improved viability of the system.

Abstract

Abstract - Based on the General Requirements for the PUIL 2011 (Persyaratan Umum Instalasi Listrik 2011), there are three types of earthing systems, namely the TN system, the TT system, and the IT system.These three types of earthing function to prevent electric shock that is harmful to humans. Earthing part of the equipment namely open conductive part on the TT system is installed separately, where the open conductive part of electrical equipment is connected directly to the earth in order to limit the amount of voltage between the open conductive part and the earth to the allowable limit if a leakage current is caused due to a failure insulation.The action taken to minimize the occurrence of indirect touch stress is to use an earthing system with the aim of: Conducting current from the metal parts of the equipment that flows through the leakage to the ground through the earth channel, Minimize potential differences between the metal parts of the equipment and the ground so that it is not dangerous if touched.Earthing resistance value on the TT system greatly affects the magnitude of the touch voltage that occurs at open conductive part due to a leakage current due to insulation failure. If the resistance value of the earth electrode exceeds the allowable standard, it can cause the touch voltage that occurs in the open conductive part to exceed the maximum standard based on the PUIL 2011 standard and there is no safety of the MCB or ELCB, it will be dangerous if touched by humans because it can cause damage to the human body and can cause death.

Abstract

The refrigeration sector significantly contributes to global warming due to the high Global Warming Potential (GWP) of commonly used refrigerants. This study experimentally investigates the feasibility of using R290 as a low-GWP substitute for R404A in freezer applications. Although R290 and R404A have similar normal boiling points, their GWP values differ significantly (3 for R290 vs. 3922 for R404A), making R290 a more environmentally friendly alternative. Experiments were conducted on a freezer originally designed for R404A with a 1/3 HP compressor and a refrigerant charge of 170 g. After baseline testing with R404A, the system was retrofitted with R290, using an optimized charge of 62.9 g. The system's performance was analyzed over 120 minutes, with energy and exergy evaluations conducted at 60 minutes, when the cabin temperature stabilized. Results from energy analysis indicate that replacing R404A with R290 led to a 6.1% increase in cooling capacity, a 6.0% reduction in power consumption, and a 12.4% improvement in COP. Exergy analysis showed that total irreversibility decreased from 318.1 W (R404A) to 289.8 W (R290), with compressor irreversibility being the dominant factor (50.8% for R404A vs. 51.3% for R290). The findings confirm that R290 enhances system performance by reducing irreversibility and energy consumption. These results highlight R290 as an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to R404A, providing both operational cost savings and reduced environmental impact. However, to achieve optimal performance, compressor lubricant replacement is recommended when transitioning to R290.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi otomatisasi rumah tinggal berbasis Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) telah menjadi solusi untuk meningkatkan efisiensi, fleksibilitas, dan keamanan dalam pengoprasian instalasi listrik. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membangun sistem otomatisasi instalasi daya dan penerangan rumah tinggal berbasis PLC Omron CP1E-E20DR- A dengan pengembangan dan kolaborasi antara modul praktikum mata kuliah Praktikum Instalasi Penerangan dengan Praktikum Pemograman PLC di Program Studi Diploma Tiga Teknik Listrik, Jurusan Teknik Elektro, Politeknik Negeri Bandung. PLC Omron CP1E-E20DR-A dipilih karena kemudahan dalam pemrograman. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi perancangan hardware dan software pemrograman PLC, serta pengujian kinerja sistem. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sistem berhasil mengontrol perangkat listrik seperti lampu dan pompa air, serta memberikan keunggulan dalam efisiensi energi, kemudahan perawatan, dan keamanan dibandingkan sistem konvensional.

Abstract

Instalasi listrik yang tidak sesuai standar dapat menimbulkan risiko tinggi terhadap keselamatan, gangguan operasional, dan inefisiensi energi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis serta merancang ulang sistem instalasi listrik di PT. Jayamas Dwi Perkasa agar sesuai dengan Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Metode yang digunakan meliputi inspeksi lapangan, analisis kesesuaian terhadap SNI 0225:2011, PUIL 2011, dan simulasi menggunakan perangkat lunak ETAP. Fokus kajian meliputi kapasitas daya, proteksi arus lebih, sistem pentanahan, serta dokumentasi teknis seperti Single Line Diagram (SLD). Hasil menunjukkan adanya beberapa ketidaksesuaian instalasi eksisting terhadap standar, termasuk ukuran kabel dan proteksi yang tidak sesuai. Rancangan ulang menghasilkan sistem yang lebih andal dan efisien. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam bentuk rekomendasi teknis untuk peningkatan sistem kelistrikan industri berbasis standar nasional.
