Abstract

This paper examines how zakat management’s accountability and transparency  affect the muzzaki’s willingness to pay their zakat to a zakat management institution. The study was motivated by the crucial role of zakat in Muslim countries as a potential resource for improving their socio-economy. However, accountability and transparency of zakat institutions have failed of expectations. Muzzaki tend to give their zakat through mosques or non-profit organisations where less accountability and transparency. Prosocial behaviour theory which emphasises voluntary action to help others is selected. Meanwhile, mixed methods focusing on qualitative to facilitate quantitative methods are selected through Interview and distributing questionnaires to Muslims in the Bandung-Indonesia. 300 questionnaires were analysed using the PLS-SEM tools. This study reveals being transparent from the zakat management institution is control but when it comes to muzzaki behaviour, intention and choice to pay zakat as a voluntary expression of solidarity, it is made through official channels.

Abstract

This community service initiative, conducted on October 17, 2024, at Thailand’s East Park Incubator, aimed to equip Thai SMEs (Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) with strategies to enter the Indonesian market by addressing digitalization, cultural alignment, and regulatory compliance. Engaging 30 Thai SMEs, the program emphasized leveraging Indonesia’s digital ecosystem including platforms like Tokopedia, Shopee, Instagram, and TikTok to reach its young and huge population of over 212 million internet users, while highlighting demographic advantages such as a young workforce, halal product demand, and strategic geographic positioning. Key discussions covered cultural nuances like relationship-building practices, collective decision-making, and business etiquette to foster trust, alongside regulatory frameworks such as PT PMA requirements and tax policies. Participants demonstrated strong interest in Indonesia’s market potential, with plans or strategies to adopt localized digital marketing, partner with Indonesian businesses, and utilize e-commerce logistics. The initiative underscores the importance of academic-industry collaboration in facilitating cross-border SMEs expansion, fostering economic growth, and enhancing Thailand-Indonesia knowledge exchange through tailored market entry strategies.

Abstract

The degradation of mangrove areas is often caused by human activities such as timber exploitation, conversion of mangrove areas into roads, bridges, and residential settlements, as well as natural environmental changes. Youtefa Bay Nature Tourism Park is a conservation area characterized by stunning natural landscapes, extensive coastlines, mangrove forests, lowland tropical forests, and a rich marine ecosystem. if managed properly, the area holds great potential to generate substantial benefits for the surrounding communities. However, the current reality on the ground reveals that the management of the area remains fragmented and poorly planned. This uncoordinated approach has contributed to various environmental problems within the conservation area. Mangrove forests are among the most strategic coastal ecosystems. In Indonesia, the total area of mangrove forests continues to decline annually, primarily due to land-use changes for housing and the development of various infrastructure projects. This community engagement activity aimed to contribute to the conservation of mangrove forests in Youtefa Bay Nature Tourism Park. The initiative was carried out on October 18-19th 2023, by the Forum Manjemen Indonesia (FMI). The planting method used was the single planting technique. The mangrove planting event was successfully conducted and received appreciation from various stakeholders, particularly government representatives and lecturers from the Forum Manajemen Indonesia. To maximize the ecological function of this conservation area, it is crucial to ensure the ongoing preservation of its mangrove forests. One concrete effort undertaken is the reforestation of mangrove areas through collaborative action. this community services were part of a series of program organized by FMI in Papua and was designed to support mangrove ecosystem rehabilitation while enhancing the roles of local communities, academic institutions, and government bodies in environmental conservation.
