The research method used quantitative correlational approaching involving 30 sixth semester students at English Education Department of IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo.  The data collection was done using a questionnaire about watching habit to English movies and a listening test. The data analysis was performed using Pearson Product Moment Formula. The result showed that there is a strong positive correlation between habit in watching English movies and listening skill of English Education Department sixth semester students (r = 0.667). This indicates that the more intense the students’ habit in watching English movies, the better their listening skill. Keywords:        Watching Habit, English Movies, Students’ Listening

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of flashcard media on the English vocabulary mastery of fourth-grade students at SDN Matayangan. The research employs a quantitative method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. A total of 24 students from class IV were selected as the research sample using total sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of 20 multiple-choice questions, which were administered both before and after the treatment to measure students’ vocabulary mastery. The treatment involved the use of flashcard media as a learning tool during English vocabulary lessons over a period of several sessions. The research findings show an improvement in the students’ vocabulary scores, with an average pretest score of 63.96 increasing to an average posttest score of 78.33. This indicates that students demonstrated better vocabulary understanding after being exposed to flashcard media. The data were analyzed using paired sample t-test through SPSS, which revealed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). This result confirms that there is a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of flashcard media had a significant effect on students’ vocabulary mastery. The findings support previous research which suggests that visual media such as flashcards can enhance memory and retention, especially among young learners. The use of colorful and engaging flashcards helped students to associate words with images, making the learning process more effective and enjoyable. This study recommends that teachers incorporate flashcards into classroom instruction as an alternative strategy to improve students’ English vocabulary acquisition. Abstract

This study examines global research trends, thematic development, and prospective directions of the role-play method in English Language Teaching (ELT) from 2000 to 2025 via an extensive bibliometric analysis. 81 Scopus-indexed publications were methodically chosen based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis, conducted using VOSviewer and Bibliometrics (Biblioshiny), indicated substantial post-pandemic growth in publications, propelled by incorporating digital assessment, task-based learning, and online communicative methodologies. The results indicate a thematic shift in role-play from an auxiliary technique to a fundamental educational strategy associated with 21st-century skills. Furthermore, international collaboration networks and theme clusters underscore the method’s versatility across educational and cultural settings. This study presents theoretical, methodological, and practical contributions, offering significant insights for researchers, educators, and policymakers in the dynamic English Language Teaching (ELT) field.

The subjects of this study are the students of grade VII SMP N. 1 Botupingge who numbered 22 students. This study consists of two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used in this study is test observation, and documentation. The research instruments used include the observation sheet, the test of reading fluency (accuracy, Rate, and Prosody) and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis technique and supported by quantitative data. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of choral reading can improve students’ reading fluency in students of class VII SMP N. 1 Botupingge both in terms of process and product. The improved processes can be seen in student activities in the learning process. This is indicated by the increase of students in attention to learning, enthusiastic liveliness, and atmosphere of learning in the classroom more conducive. Improving process quality has a positive impact on product quality improvement. This is seen in the test results of reading fluency starting from cycle 1 up to cycle 2. Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the implementation of digital transformation in tourism and hospitality education through an analysis of 20 peer-reviewed articles published between 2019-2024. The study employs a rigorous methodological approach involving systematic database searches, strict inclusion-exclusion criteria, and qualitative content analysis to identify key themes, implementation challenges, and strategic recommendations. The findings reveal a significant disparity in digital transformation implementation between developed and developing nations. While developed countries primarily focus on optimizing technological utilization and pedagogical innovation, developing nations face fundamental challenges including inadequate infrastructure and pronounced digital divides. The analysis identifies several development opportunities, including enhanced learning flexibility, improved digital literacy, and the integration of advanced technologies such as AI and IoT in tourism education. The study's practical implications emphasize the importance of establishing robust digital frameworks, implementing comprehensive educator training programs, and adapting curricula to achieve an optimal balance between technological and practical learning components. This research contributes to the theoretical understanding of digital transformation in tourism education while suggesting future research directions to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of hybrid learning models across various geographical and socio-economic contexts. The findings provide valuable insights for educational institutions, policymakers, and industry stakeholders in developing strategies for effective digital transformation in tourism education. Abstract

This community service program aimed to provide early education and intervention for students at SDN 03 Desa Persatuan Poyato Barat regarding the dangers of bullying and the importance of building a safe and inclusive school environment. In addition, the program introduced basic English literacy through thematic vocabulary related to emotions, social interaction, and positive values. The three-day activity involved educational socialization, group discussions, role-playing simulations, and contextual English language learning. More than 60 students from grades IV, V, and VI actively participated in all sessions. The results indicated an increased understanding of different forms of bullying, improved empathy, and the use of simple English expressions in social contexts. This program demonstrates that a participatory approach combining character education and English literacy is effective in fostering social awareness and basic language skills simultaneously.
