Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) integration in academic writing has gained significant attention due to its potential impact on authorship, the natural character of academic works, and ethical considerations. This Study aims to assess the faculty members' perceptions on their current usage of AI in academic writing and explore its future implications. The research involved an online survey administered to 68 faculty members responding to closed and open-ended questions. The study revealed faculty members' perceptions of AI integration in academic writing and its implications for authorship and the authenticity of academic work. Findings reveal widespread adoption of AI tools among faculty members, offering efficiency, productivity, and accuracy benefits in areas like grammar checks, reference management, writing assistance, and plagiarism detection. However, concerns arise over authorship preservation and maintaining academic work's unique character, emphasizing the need for clear guidelines. Ethical considerations and best practices are also highlighted to use AI while safeguarding academic integrity effectively. These insights extend to educators, policy makers, and researchers, offering a comprehensive view of AI's current role in academic writing and guiding ethical discussions and best practices. Ultimately, this research enhances teaching and learning practices in Indonesian higher education institutions through responsible AI integration.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Padlet, a web-based digital platform, into environmental education for pre-service teachers at Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBI) of IAIN Madura, Indonesia, using a mixed-methods approach. A purposive sample of 98 pre-service teachers from 47 Teaching Practice 1 pre-service teachers and 51 TEYL pre-service teachers from TBI participated. The research aims to bridge the gap between environmental education theory and teaching practice by utilizing Padlet as a learning medium. Data collection included pre- and post-surveys on pre-service teachers' perceptions and knowledge of environmental education and technology, along with interviews, observations, and course material analysis. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data underwent thematic analysis. Findings indicate that Padlet significantly enhances student engagement, collaborative learning, and understanding of environmental concepts. The platform's versatility allows for interactive activities that cater to diverse learning styles, fostering critical thinking and environmental consciousness. Despite challenges such as resource constraints and varying levels of digital literacy, the study highlights the potential of digital tools like Padlet to enrich environmental education. The research contributes to the scholarship on innovative pedagogical approaches in sustainability education and offers recommendations for integrating technology into teacher training programs. Findings provide insights into how Padlet supports critical thinking, collaboration, and environmental awareness in teacher education, demonstrating its value as a transformative tool for preparing environmentally conscious future educators.

Abstract

Environmental project-based language learning (EPBLL) is a promising approach for promoting language acquisition, environmental consciousness, and sustainable education among young learners. However, the present state of research on EPBLL in English language education for early learners needs to be better understood. This bibliometric study examines the state of EPBLL research over the past ten years. We conducted a bibliometric analysis of articles published between 2013 and 2023 that met our inclusion criteria using Scopus. Our analysis focused on publication trends, journal sources, citation counts, and identifying major research topics and themes in EPBLL research. Our study found a steady increase in EPBLL publications over the past ten years, with numerous journals contributing to this research field. We identified several important themes and areas of emphasis, such as the role of technology in EPBLL, the impact of EPBLL on language acquisition and environmental awareness, and the effectiveness of various pedagogical approaches to EPBLL. Our findings have significant implications for educators, researchers, and policymakers promoting sustainable education and language acquisition through project-based learning. This study provides insights into the state of EPBLL research in English language education for young learners and highlights essential research themes that can inform future studies in this area.

Abstract

This study examines the levels of self-efficacy and factors influencing the self-efficacy on the use of educational technology among English lecturers in Islamic higher education institutions in East Java, Indonesia, in the post-COVID-19 pandemic. There are two research questions addressed: 1) What levels of self-efficacy do the lecturers exhibit on the pedagogical skills and actual use of educational technology in the postCOVID19 pandemic? 2) What factors influence the lecturers self-efficacy on the use of educational technology in the postCOVID19 pandemic? Utilizing a survey research design, data were collected using an adapted version of the Professional Self-Efficacy Scale for Information and Communication Technology Teachers (PSES) questionnaire. The data from 37 participants were then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The result showed that the lecturers self-efficacy in their pedagogical skills and the actual use of educational technology was moderate, and they will continue integrating educational technology in their classrooms in the postCOVID19 era. Moreover, the qualitative data indicated that the lecturers had moderate skills in using technology with limited educational technology tools. Age, gender, qualifications, and teaching experience emerged as factors influencing the lecturers self-efficacy on the use of educational technology in classrooms. The findings highlighted the need for English lecturers in Islamic higher education institutions to broaden their skills in using educational technology for learning. Policymakers need to design appropriate strategies to enhance lecturers pedagogical practices in using educational technology for online learning to ensure effective and efficient teaching in the post-COVID-19 pandemic.
