Abstract

Evaluation is an important role in education to assess the extent to which learning objectives have been achieved. In this context, the role of the teacher is crucial in designing evaluations. According to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Year 2005 Article 10 Paragraph 1, evaluating the assessment tools that have been prepared is part of the teacher's pedagogical competence. This means that teachers must be able to design and assess evaluation tools to ensure that learning objectives are effectively achieved. In drafting test items, there are various levels of difficulty. Anderson and Krathwohl divide them into three levels: LOTS, MOTS, and HOTS. The type of research used is library research. The data source for this research is the final exam questions for the odd semester of the Arabic language subject for the 2023/2024 academic year on 7th grade in Islamic Junior High School 5 Nganjuk, East Java. The analysis method used to analyze this discussion is a qualitative analysis method using content analysis. The results of the study show that: 1) some questions still focus on LOTS and MOTS levels, with more LOTS and MOTS questions included than HOTS questions, thus requiring re-formulation. 2) From the analysis conducted, it was found that there are 25 LOTS questions, 23 MOTS questions, and 2 HOTS questions, and it was noted that the included HOTS questions lack variety.

Abstract

Arabic language learning for students in non-Arabic Education programs faces challenges in creating meaningful and relevant learning experiences. Teaching materials, as one of the key components in learning, often focus more on theory and memorization, failing to provide opportunities for students to apply Arabic in everyday contexts. Therefore, this study aims to design constructivist-based teaching materials that can enhance students' understanding and skills in Arabic. This research uses a qualitative method, conducted at the Faculty of Tarbiyah, IAIN Kediri, which consists of nine different study programs. By using techniques such as observation, questionnaires, and interviews with students and lecturers, the study deeply analyzes the teaching materials used, the obstacles faced, and the proposed design of teaching materials based on constructivist theory. The results show that the current teaching materials are not contextual and do not support practice-based learning. The main obstacles lie in the lack of variation in teaching methods and the suboptimal use of materials in connecting theory with real-world application. The proposed constructivist-based teaching materials emphasize interactivity, cultural relevance, and the use of technology to create a more engaging and effective learning experience.

Abstract

Media and technology have brought significant transformations in Arabic language learning, creating new opportunities to improve the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of learning. This study uses a library research method to explore media and technology in Arabic language learning. Data were collected from various relevant written sources, including books, scientific journals, and online articles that discuss media and technology in language education. Various findings show that the integration of technologies, such as e-learning platforms, mobile applications, gamification, as well as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), has successfully increased students' motivation, engagement, and Arabic language competence. Digital media not only makes learning more engaging and interactive, but also allows personalization of learning according to individual needs and learning pace. Some key recommendations include teacher training in the use of technology, development of quality digital content, and collaboration between the government, educational institutions and the private sector.

Abstract

The Arabic language learning environment is evolving not only in physical (offline) settings but also in digital (online) spaces. One of the institutions fostering an Arabic-speaking environment is Kampung Arab Al-Azhar Pare. This study aims to describe and analyze the Arabic language learning process and the design of a digital Arabic environment in Kampung Arab Al-Azhar, located in Pare, Kediri, East Java. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were gathered following Lincoln and Guba's model through participant observation, systematic interviews with key stakeholders, and document analysis. The findings indicate that Kampung Arab Al-Azhar offers various intensive online Arabic learning programs that adhere to the principles and conditions necessary for creating a conducive language environment. The implementation of institutional policies, teacher recruitment, and digital learning integration has been carried out effectively. However, a notable challenge remains: the current understanding and use of the Learning Management System (LMS) do not fully reflect its potential as a critical component of digital learning. This limitation may hinder the optimal achievement of learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study focuses on the challenges of enhancing Arabic listening skills (maharah istima’) in the digital era and the importance of utilizing authentic media for effective learning. Learning Al-Jazeera.Net was chosen as it provides access to relevant and contextual Arabic audio resources. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using Learning Al-Jazeera.Net in developing students’ listening skills at IAIN Kediri. A qualitative research approach was used, involving observation and descriptive analysis, with a structured implementation of this media. This includes audio listening exercises, pronunciation imitation, and contextual comprehension practice. The findings indicate that Learning Al-Jazeera.Net is effective in enriching students' learning experiences, facilitating the acquisition of new vocabulary, and improving pronunciation accuracy and sensitivity to dialect variations. However, challenges were identified regarding the stability of question features on mobile devices, limiting learning flexibility. Overall, this media supports listening skill development and provides a more contextual and realistic Arabic learning experience for students.
