Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic requires office workers to wear masks in their daily lives. The reported side effects of wearing mask in long time period include orofacial pain. Self physiotherapy can be an easy solution in preventing and treating the pain. The purpose of this training is to train people to be able to strengthen and relax their facial muscles to prevent masticatory muscle pain. The online training was conducted on July 5, 2022 to 29 participants with Indonesian Attorney General's Office health workers as the majority. The evaluation results showed improvements in all training topics regarding personal protection, side effects of wearing masks, and ways to overcome side effects of wearing masks. Self physiotherapy skills could not be done in detail because of the limitations of online communication. Online training can improve participants' ability to practice stretching and muscle relaxation better.

Abstract

Water is crucial for human survival, serving both consumption needs and daily activities. However, water contamination often occurs when it is not managed and stored properly. Contaminated drinking water can pose health risks, causing various digestive diseases and even death, especially in children. Therefore, the management and storage of water require special attention. Indonesian communities, especially those in the RW 006, Tanjung Duren Selatan, are still limited in gathering clean water without proper water management for it to be made suitable for consumption. In response to this concern, a program was implemented to enhance awareness and empower the residents of RW 006, Tanjung Duren Selatan, focusing on improving environmental sanitation and the effective management of safe drinking water. The activities took place at the secretariat office of RW 006, Tanjung Duren Selatan, on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 08:30 to 10:15 AM. A total of 25 participants filled out attendance and completed pre-test questionnaires. Participants were then provided with education and training by the team on environmental sanitation, Community-Based Total Sanitation (STMB), proper management of household waste, and the handling of water intended for consumption. The post-test results showed an improvement in participants' knowledge and understanding regarding the enhancement of environmental sanitation and the management of water ready for consumption in households. It is hoped that participants will serve as links in communication and educators within the local community, ultimately contributing to improved sanitation and an enhanced quality of life.

Abstract

Background: The aging process is a natural occurrence affecting individuals, influenced by various factors such as gender, employment, education level, and oral health. Tooth loss is a common consequence of aging. Removable dentures offer an alternative to rehabilitate missing teeth, replacing one or more teeth and surrounding tissues to restore function and prevent further damage. The objective of prosthodontic treatment for the elderly is to replace missing teeth with functional ones that enhance appearance, speech, and most importantly, chewing abilities. The ultimate goal is to help the elderly consume more nutrients. Objective: This study aims to assess the quality of life among senior citizens using removable dentures at the Ciracas nursing home in East Jakarta. Methods: A cross-sectional design and descriptive observational research methodology were employed. Seventy-one senior respondents aged 60 and above, using removable dentures at the Ciracas Nursing Home, participated in the study. The Oral Health Impact Profile 14 (OHIP 14) questionnaire was used for data collection. Results: Analysis revealed that 26 respondents (36.6%) reported good quality of life, 40 respondents (56.3%) reported moderate quality of life, and 5 respondents (7%) reported low quality of life.
