Abstract

Background: Appropriate dental extraction management with osteoporosis patient that consume bisphosphonate is the best way to prevent bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw Objective: evaluate the dentist knowledge and awareness in West Jakarta about dental extraction management in patient with osteoporosis that consume bisphosphonate Methods: This research method is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design with 97 respondents. The data was collected through a questionnaire addressed to West Jakarta-based dentists, and the data was then displayed in the form of a graphic and percentage. The data obtained was then categorized into 3 level which are high if the respondents have ≥80 score, average if the respondents have 60-70 score and low if the respondents have score ≤50 Result: there are 85,54% respondents with a low level of knowledge, 10,31% who have average level of knowledge and 5,15% who have low level of knowledge. Conclusion: Dentists level of knowledge in West Jakarta about dental extraction with osteoporosis patients under bisphosphonate treatment is categorized low.

Abstract

The prevalence of oral health problems in the Jakarta Special Capital Region (DKI Jakarta) according to the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) results in 2018 was 59.1%. Pericoronitis and periodontal disease are common oral cavity issues. Knowledge about maintaining oral health is a key factor in achieving a good quality of life. To increase public understanding of the importance of dental and oral care, this knowledge program is designed to provide holistic and practical information. Therefore, education in the form of counseling and training is needed by directly engaging with the community to emphasize the importance of dental and oral health care, targeting mothers from the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and Integrated Health Service Post (Posyandu) cadres in the Grogol sub-district. The results show a significant difference between pre-test and post-test (p < 0.0001). In conclusion, the knowledge of participants improves after receiving counseling and training.

Abstract

Osteoporosis adalah penyakit dengan prevalensi yang setiap tahunnya terus meningkat di dunia. Penyakit ini menyerang jutaan orang di seluruh dunia. Osteoporosis ditandai dengan penurunan massa tulang dan perubahan mikro jaringan tulang, yang kemudian dapat menyebabkan kerapuhan tulang dan resiko patah tulang. Masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut banyak terjadi di Indonesia. Kebersihan mulut yang buruk menyebabkan kesehatan mulut yang buruk, yang pada gilirannya berdampak negatif pada kesehatan dan kualitas hidup secara keseluruhan. Kurangnya pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang kesehatan membuat masyarakat mengesampingkan perhatian terhadap kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan pelatihan pencegahan osteoporosis dan penyuluhan Kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di lansia Panti Jompo 41 Al Madiniyah, yang dihadiri oleh 20 peserta. Pengetahuan peserta dinilai dengan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan pre dan post-test terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna (p<0,005). Kesimpulannya masyarakat lansia yang menjadi peserta PkM ini pengetahuannya meningkat setalah diberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan.

Abstract

Infeksi gigi merupakan penyakit yang umum terjadi di masyarakat. Infeksi gigi terdapat yang ringan dan juga ada yang berkembang menjadi komplikasi serius dan fatal. Phlegmon dan selulitis termasuk dalam komplikasi dari infeksi gigi. Jika tidak segera dilakukan perawatan khusus dengan tepat, dapat menjadi berbahaya dan fatal. Oleh karena itu, memahami prinsip pengelolaan phlegmon dan selulitis merupakan hal yang penting bagi para praktisi.Infeksi odontogenik merupakan salah satu patologi yang paling umum terjadi di daerah mulut dan maksilofasial. Infeksi biasanya berkembang melalui tiga fase: inokulasi, selulitis, dan pembentukan abses. Selulitis wajah yang berasal dari gigi adalah peradangan pada jaringan adiposa seluler yang terletak pada rongga-rongga yang mengelilingi rahang bawah dan rahang atas, yang berkembang dari daerah yang mengalami infeksi gigi. Selain itu, phlegmon dasar mulut atau yang biasa disebut dengan Ludwig’s angina juga merupakan salah satu komplikasi infeksi odontogenik. Phlegmon dasar mulut merupakan selulitis supuratif difus akut yang menyebar terutama pada jaringan ikat longgar, yang dimulai dari ruang submandibular. Infeksi odontogenik seperti selulitis dan phlegmon merupakan salah satu keadaan darurat yang harus segera ditangani oleh dokter gigi. Penatalaksanaan yang diperlukan pada selulitis yaitu dengan menghilangkan penyebab infeksi, dan melakukan drainase bedah. Selain itu, penatalaksanaan pada kasus phlegmon dilakukan dengan cara menjaga pernapasan, terapi antibiotik agresif dan dekompresi ruang submental, sublingual dan submandibular.

Abstract

Background: Aging is a natural physiological process characterized by a decline in physical, cognitive, and psychomotor functions. These changes can lead to a weakened immune system, making the elderly more vulnerable to various diseases, including osteoporosis, a degenerative condition commonly associated with aging and influenced by multiple factors. Additionally, aging affects oral function, leading to difficulties with mastication and a reduction in nutritional intake. Oral and dental health play a crucial role in maintaining overall health, and inadequate oral care can harm systemic health. Objective: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of elderly individuals with symptoms of osteoporosis and oral health complaints in Central Jakarta. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a structured questionnaire administered to 35 elderly respondents. The collected data were statistically analyzed and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. Results: The findings revealed that 15% of the respondents exhibited symptoms of osteoporosis. Additionally, 13% of the elderly experienced oral health complaints that coincided with the symptoms of osteoporosis. Conclusion: The study highlights a notable prevalence of osteoporosis symptoms and associated oral health complaints among the elderly in Central Jakarta. These findings underscore the importance of developing integrated health strategies that address both systemic and oral health needs in the elderly population.
