Abstract

Various changes in English curriculum starting from the audio-lingual method to the communicative competence used today have not been able to improve students' English skills. The teacher-centered pattern that has changed to student-centered has also not been able to provide significant changes to student learning outcomes at the university level. This study was conducted to investigate the digitalizaton of English Learning at University of Mahkota Tricom Unggul which was troubled in shiffting the learning landscape from offline to online or digital based. It would be done by applying qualitative research. The data was taken from interview of English lecturers and EFL students majoring from D-3 Akuntansi and S-1 Managemen. The interview questions were settled as well based on the digitalization in English Learning and the Problem they met. After analysing the data, it was found that the students commonly used e-learning, Zoom and Whatsapp. E-learning was used by them for creating and sharing the material of the study, Zoom was used for undergoing a class meeting and whatsapp was used to accomodate interaction behind the teaching learning time. The most common problem that they faced in running this digitalization was that the limitation of the digital media device, less internet connection up to less learning system management.

Abstract

This research was to describe the implementation of scientific approach and the problems in teaching English. The writer used qualitative research. Subjects of this research were English teachers of SMP Negeri 38 Medan.The data of this research were collected by relating observation, interview and documentation. The data were evaluated by applying data reduction, data display, and conclusion based on Miles and Hubberman (1994). The findings showed that the teachers used scientific approach covering the activities were as follows, (1) in the observing activity, teachers showed prohibition images, English instructions and introduced in English, (2) in the activity of asking, there was activity of asking and answering about the observed objects., (3) in the activity of experimenting, the teachers guided the students to demonstrate, discuss and try, (4) in the activity of associating, the teachers guided the students to conduct English exercise, (5) in activity of communicating, students present orally. Meanwhile there were problems faced by the teachers as follows, (1) lack of attractive media in the observing activity, (2) lack of students’ activiness, (3) lack of students’ self-confidence and partaking to experience, (4) lack of students’ vocabulary, (5) and lack of students’ responsiveness.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to strengthen the accounting competencies of university students through the active involvement of academics as judges in Accounting Fair VIII at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU). The role of academics extends beyond evaluation, functioning as a medium for knowledge transfer, critical feedback, and competency benchmarking aligned with academic and industry standards. The program focuses on enhancing students’ understanding of accounting principles, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and professional judgment through competition-based activities such as quizzes, case studies, and financial analysis challenges. The implementation involves structured assessment by academic judges combined with direct feedback, enabling students to gain practical insights and improve readiness for real-world challenges. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ competencies, particularly in analytical accuracy, confidence, and engagement in accounting learning. Thus, the involvement of academics as judges serves as a strategic approach to improving the quality of accounting education and preparing students for professional demands.

Abstract

This final assignment will be carried out at the Medan City Environmental Service starting from April 10 2023 to June 8 2023. This final assignment aims to find out the Article 21 income tax (PPh) administration system for Medan City Environmental Service employees. Income Tax Article 21 is a tax imposed on income obtained by individual taxpayers. The income referred to here is income in the form of compensation or compensation relating to work or services received or obtained including salary, wages, allowances, honorarium, commission. , bonuses, gratuities, pensions, or other forms of compensation, income tax article 21 cannot be separated from the administrative system. Meanwhile, the benefit of this research is as information material for parties who need it and as a reference for future researchers. The data method used is the descriptive method. Data collection was carried out by means of observation and documentation. Based on research conducted, the income tax administration system for Article 21 employees of the Medan City Environmental Service is effective in terms of following government regulations and other rules governing Income Tax Article 21.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan literasi pembayaran digital melalui sosialisasi dan pendampingan implementasi QRIS kepada lima belas UMKM di Kecamatan Medan Marelan. Seluruh peserta belum menggunakan QRIS sebelum kegiatan dilaksanakan. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui observasi awal, penyampaian materi, demonstrasi, diskusi, dan pendampingan registrasi QRIS. Materi mencakup manfaat QRIS, keamanan transaksi, pencatatan keuangan digital, dan langkah implementasi. Kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme peserta dan meningkatnya pemahaman mengenai pentingnya transaksi non tunai sebagai bagian dari transformasi digital UMKM. Kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal dalam mendorong adopsi QRIS pada UMKM di Kecamatan Medan Marelan serta mendukung program percepatan digitalisasi ekonomi yang dicanangkan oleh pemerintah dan Bank Indonesia. Pendampingan secara berkelanjutan diperlukan agar pelaku UMKM semakin siap mengimplementasikan sistem pembayaran digital dalam kegiatan usahanya sehingga mampu meningkatkan daya saing dan keberlanjutan usaha di era ekonomi digital
