Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the classroom management practiced by English teachers during their teaching in Aek Hayuara Islamic Boarding School and to investigate the factors affecting the classroom management teaching process. This study was carried out with a qualitative research design. Participants of this study were eighth grade English teachers at an Islamic secondary school, Aek Hayuara Sibuhuan North Sumatera. Data were collected through observation and interviews. Observations and semi-structured interviews were used to collect data on classroom management.Education researchers work to understand the actual classroom management process. Data reduction, data presentation and data analysis methods using data result. In this study, the diversification method was used to evaluate the validity of the data. The research findings are as follows: (1) English teachers at Aek Hayuara Sibuhuan Islamic Junior Boarding School conduct classroom management in English. (2) However, the researchers found that not all aspects of classroom management are used by English teachers.(4) It has been shown that there are some effects on classroom management in English teaching; lack of accommodation, overcrowded classrooms, teacher planning and preparation, and classroom discipline. Through this study, the researchers suggest that all English teachers should be able to learn classroom management strategies in the teaching process because the learning process can be improved by using classroom management strategies.

Abstract

All university students are required to have adequate English writing skills. This is true, particularly for students in Agro-Marine field, because they are expected to write and present scientific information in a structured and accurate manner. However, a number of students have challenges relating to English writing skill. This research aimed to investigate the implementation of Genre-Based Writing (GBW) in improving the descriptive writing skills of Agro-Marine students at Teuku Umar University. Fifty participants from the faculties of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Marine Sciences took part in the study. The method used in this study was descriptive approach. The data were collected from the participants’ writing tests for the pre-test and post-test, as for the assessment, a rubric consist of content, organization, vocabulary, grammar and mechanics. The researchers also conducted a semi-structured interviews and observations before, during and after the implementation of the genre-based writing. The data was examined by using descriptive qualitative framework proposed by Miles and Huberman (1994) which divided the process into three steps such as data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The result showed that participants’ text structure, coherence, and linguistic precision improved from 50 to 76,25 after the implementation of the genre-based writing. The results suggest that GBW is an effective pedagogical approach for enhancing Agro-Marine students’ writing skills.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan literasi pembayaran digital melalui sosialisasi dan pendampingan implementasi QRIS kepada lima belas UMKM di Kecamatan Medan Marelan. Seluruh peserta belum menggunakan QRIS sebelum kegiatan dilaksanakan. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui observasi awal, penyampaian materi, demonstrasi, diskusi, dan pendampingan registrasi QRIS. Materi mencakup manfaat QRIS, keamanan transaksi, pencatatan keuangan digital, dan langkah implementasi. Kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme peserta dan meningkatnya pemahaman mengenai pentingnya transaksi non tunai sebagai bagian dari transformasi digital UMKM. Kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal dalam mendorong adopsi QRIS pada UMKM di Kecamatan Medan Marelan serta mendukung program percepatan digitalisasi ekonomi yang dicanangkan oleh pemerintah dan Bank Indonesia. Pendampingan secara berkelanjutan diperlukan agar pelaku UMKM semakin siap mengimplementasikan sistem pembayaran digital dalam kegiatan usahanya sehingga mampu meningkatkan daya saing dan keberlanjutan usaha di era ekonomi digital
