Abstract

Pregnant women’s knowledge of pregnancy plays a crucial role in the early detection of pregnancy warning signs; thus, if a woman is aware of these warning signs and is experiencing them, she can promptly decide on the necessary actions to minimize the risk of complications and the worsening of her condition. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between a mother’s knowledge and her adherence to prenatal checkups at the Dusun Baru Community Health Center. This study employed an analytical research design using a cross-sectional study. The study was conducted at the Dusun Baru Community Health Center from June 15 to December 30, 2025. The sample for this study consisted of the entire population (total sampling), specifically pregnant women in the late third trimester (36 weeks’ gestation) who underwent prenatal checkups at the Dusun Baru Community Health Center, totaling 30 individuals. The analyses employed were univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The results of the study showed a significance level of α = 0.05, with a p-value of 0.012 < 0.05; therefore, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between maternal knowledge and adherence to prenatal check-ups. The researcher recommends that the Dusun Baru Community Health Center enhance its health promotion and education efforts for pregnant women regarding the importance of regular prenatal check-ups in accordance with antenatal care (ANC) service standards.

Abstract

Smoking is a major risk factor for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and contributes substantially to morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. The high prevalence of active smokers in rural areas highlights the need for more intensive and targeted health education. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of residents in Dusun II, Watas Marga Village, regarding the dangers of smoking, the impact of second-hand smoke on family members, and initial steps toward smoking cessation. The intervention consisted of interactive counseling, group discussions, demonstrations of the effects of cigarette smoke on the lungs, and the distribution of educational leaflets. Evaluation was conducted through pre–post tests and participatory observation to assess changes in knowledge and attitude. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, with the proportion of those in the “good” category rising from 28.6% to 82.9% after the educational session. Additionally, several residents expressed commitment to reducing cigarette consumption and implementing smoke-free home practices. This activity demonstrates that community-based health education is effective in increasing awareness and motivation to prevent smoking-related health risks.

Abstract

Vaginal discharge is a common reproductive health problem among adolescent girls. In Indonesia, approximately 75% of women experience vaginal discharge at least once in their lifetime, with some experiencing it during adolescence. The occurrence of vaginal discharge can be influenced by the level of knowledge about vulvar hygiene. A lack of knowledge regarding proper feminine hygiene practices can increase the risk of vaginal discharge. This study aimed to determine the relationship between adolescents’ knowledge of vulvar hygiene and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among female students at SMAN 02 of Bengkulu City. The research employed a descriptive analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 83 respondents at SMAN 02 of Bengkulu City using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The results showed that the majority of respondents (88%) had good knowledge of vulvar hygiene, and almost all respondents (98.8%) did not experience vaginal discharge. The Chi-square statistical test produced a p-value of 0.039 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between adolescents’ knowledge of vulvar hygiene and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among female students at SMAN 02 of Bengkulu City. Based on these findings, it is recommended that schools enhance reproductive health education through counseling or adolescent health programs, particularly concerning the importance of maintaining feminine hygiene
