Abstract

The English debat organization is one of the most popular students’ activity units at STKIP PGRI Ponorogo. Many students of English department join this club. The skill of debate of the students in the English club is not improved yet. The objective of this study was to give an appropriate way of giving argument of a debate by using AREL. AREL is Argument, Reasoning, Evidance and Link Back. This is a classroom action research. The approach of this study is qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data were gained by using questionnaire and observation. The quantitative data were gained from the result of the students’ speaking test both pre-test, post-test I, and post-test II. The subject of the study was the members of the English debate club of STKIP PGRI Ponorogo consisting of 19 students. The data collection technique used in this study was observation. The observation, then, also was enriched by recording and taking-note techniques. Data, then, was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. In pre-test, many students still made many mistakes in presenting the argument. Based on the pre-test data, the pre-treatment was done. In post-test I, some students made an improvement in presenting a good enough organization of an argument, but it was not good yet. In post-test II of the next treatment, it shows a better result

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesian language for non-native speakers is considered difficult because its position as a second language. Therefore, BIPA speaking students ask for certain models and techniques in learning so that BIPA students can master Indonesian properly according to their level. This research is a qualitative descriptive study conducted with the aim to study and describe the application of techniques in learning to speak BIPA Beginner Level (A-1) at IAIN Surakarta. This research was conducted at IAIN Surakarta with 6 successful BIPA learners (A-1). Data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique used is interactive analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion conclusions. The results of this study are the application of the game in learning to speak BIPA which is divided into three parts, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. The application of the game in learning to speak BIPA is carried out effectively, although it is still in implementation.

Abstract

The strength of film as a medium that represents and constructs reality with the storyline which is symbolically packaged, through substance and full of socio-cultural values. This study is to describe the deconstruction of femininity and women's resistance meaning in the “Mother” movie. This research is a descriptive qualitative text research using main analysis of critical discourse by Sara Mills. The subject is the “Mother” movie, a thriller drama directed by Bong Joon-Ho. Collecting data at the text level, especially through documentation and literature studies, and furthermore, data is validated through FGD with experts who have experience and knowledge according to the object of research. The results explain the deconstruction of feminine values and women's resistance meaning in the “Mother” movie positioning women as objects. At this level, there is an objectification of women through the main character played by Hye ja, although another tendency appears which also positions women as subjects in the storyline. The emergence of physical and emotional aspects of femininity strengthens the objectification of women in the film. However, there is a dissection on femininity and resistance value in the film due to the emotional dynamics of the main character’s complex character. Finally, the existence of media as an industry and the power of messages makes the practice of media commodification depends on the owners, so it’s possible that the image of the female character in the film is used to represent a form of media power over the commodification of the message conveyed.

Abstract

Purpose - This study aims to analyze further the disclosure of Islamic Social Responsibility (ISR) on board size, board independence, board diversity, and board activity.Method - This study uses quantitative methods and multiple linear regression analysis. This study uses a sample of Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia, which consistently reports from 2016 to 2019. The research sample is 13 Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia. The data analysis technique used a multiple linear regression test.Result - The results show that only board diversity can affect ISR disclosure, while the variable board size, board independence, and board activity cannot affect ISR disclosure. This study has an adjusted R square of 53.3%.Implication - This study recommends Islamic banking to increase the role of the board of directors to encourage ISR disclosure because the company's concern for social and environmental conditions can increase corporate value.Originality - In Indonesia, there are still not many researchers who have studied the attributes of the board and the disclosure of ISR. This research is expected to provide broader knowledge about the board's attributes in voluntary disclosure in the banking sector.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to see the potential and positioning of IAIN Surakarta, amid the trend of institutional transformation of Islamic Higher Education in Indonesia. In fact, transformation is not merely a matter of changing institutional status, but also the scientific quality of its civitas academics in responding to the technological developments and to the complexity of modern society’s problems. Based on the qualitative approach, wherein the data is obtained from 10 key informants which are determined through the purposive sampling method, the results of this study show that institutional transformation requires the readiness of all resources as its academic social capital. Started from good and appropriate mapping, management and resource development, in accordance with the quality standards determined. However, all of these will not work well without comprehensive institutional policies. Policies that refer to the strategic development plans, and completed with various rules, achievements, and indicators. Keywords: Islamic higher education, and Institutional transformation

Abstract

Data India shows that  Muslim population in India, at the census 2001, was in second place after Hindus. It reached 138 million (13.4%) after Hindus which is little over 827 million (80.5%). This number implies how Islam has been well-received in India and entered into various areas of life including education. Muslim Educational System in India has developed over decades through its Islamic institution and madrasas. This study aims to see the language teaching in Darul Uloom, Deoband as it is reflected through its educational system and curriculum. This is a library based research in which extensive reviews of literature has been made in attempt to produce a descriptive qualitative analysis. This study shows that in Darul Uloom Deoband, stylized writing mastery has become the ultimate skills to acquire.here,  Language is not only merely targeted as a means of communication but also as a means to study Islamic textbooks. Moreover, it is expected that through the language mastery its students and alumni can be author of many books in Arabic and English. Abstract

Sorgum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) merupakan tanaman serealia tinggi karbohidrat yang potensial untuk subtitusi beras dan tepung terigu karena satu famili dengan padi dan gandum. Potensi hasil tanaman sorgum di Indonesia masih cukup rendah hanya mencapai 4.000 – 6.000 ton per tahun. Peningkatan potensi hasil sorgum nasional perlu dilakukan karena Indonesia sangat potensial bagi pengembangan sorgum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan VUB terbaik dan dosis pupuk kandang ayam yang efektif untuk meningkatkan potensi hasil sorgum di Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan jurusan ATPH SMK Mambaul Ihsan yang terletak di Desa Banyuurip Kecamatan Ujungpangkah, pada bulan Maret - Juni 2023. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni RAK Faktorial. Faktor pertama dosis pupuk kandang ayam (P) yang terdiri atas P0 (tanpa pemberian pupuk), P1 (5 ton/ha), dan P2 (10 ton/ha). Faktor kedua penggunaan VUB sorgum (V) yang terdiri atas V1 (Super 2), V2 (Bioguma 2), V3 (Bioguma 3). Masing-masing perlakuan diulang tiga kali sehingga terdapat 27 petak percobaan. Variabel yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, saat berbunga, 50% berbunga, diameter batang, panjang malai, panjang tangkai malai, diameter tangkai malai, bobot basah malai per petak, bobot kering malai per petak, jumlah biji per malai, bobot basah biji per malai, bobot kering biji per malai, bobot 100 biji dan estimasi bobot kering biji per hektar. Analisis data menggunakan ANOVA 5%, jika terdapat perbedaan nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT 5% dan uji korelasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan nyata perlakuan interaksi terhadap variabel bobot basah dan kering malai per petak, jumlah biji per malai, bobot basah dan kering biji per malai, serta estimasi bobot kering biji per hektar. Perlakuan tunggal dosis pupuk kandang ayam menunjukkan hasil berbeda nyata terhadap variabel tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, panjang malai, panjang tangkai malai, diameter tangkai malai, bobot basah dan kering malai per petak, jumlah biji per malai, bobot basah dan kering biji per malai, serta estimasi bobot kering biji per hektar. Perlakuan tunggal jenis VUB sorgum menunjukkan hasil berbeda nyata terhadap variabel tinggi tanaman, diameter tangkai malai, jumlah biji per malai, bobot basah dan kering malai per petak, bobot basah dan kering biji per malai, serta estimasi bobot kering biji per hektar.

Abstract

Abstrak Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris khususnya menulis selalu mempunyai tantangan tersendiri di Indonesia. Seiring dengan berkembangnya teknologi, makin banyak apliaksi yang banyak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Salah satu aplikasi yang banyak digunakan dalam pengajaran Bahasa Inggris adalah aplikasi Padlet. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan Implementasi, masalah dan solusi terhadap penggunaan Aplikasi Padlet pada kelas menulis pada mahasiswa semester pertama Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris IAIN Surakarta, Tahun Akademik 2019/2020. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi pada buku padlet dosen dan mahasiswa. Analisis data dilakukan melalui proses pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi Padlet pada kelas menulis menunjukkan hasil yang positif khususnya pada proses Brainstorming. Permasalahan utama yang terjadi selama implementasi Aplikasi Padlet lebih kepada masalah teknis dimana mahasiswa kurang familiar/ memahami fitur Padlet itu sendiri. Selain itu, masalah jaringan yang tidak stabil juga menjadi kendala bagi Sebagian besar mahasiswa. Evaluasi rutin di kelas dengan mengecek tugas secara tertulis, mencari referensi di Aplikasi Padlet serta memanfaatkan koneksi WIFI di kampus untuk mendapatkan sinyal yang lebih stabil dan baik terbukti menjadi solusi bagi permasalahan yang ada.
