Abstract

Abstrack This paper discusses the journal as an arena for literary criticism. In the journal the practice of legitimacy is occurred, as a writer, critics or academics. Taking and making positions are conducted by the agents of the journal. This study found that in Jurnal Poetika, academics legitimize the writer and conversely the writer who became the academics legitimize the other writer and even criticize the other academics in their different arena, and it is also possible in the same arena. In the arena of criticism, the exchange of positions continues as long as the existence of the arena, depends on the authorities of the arena, with Faruk as the agent of symbolic power, and even the power is identical to himself. In the arena (criticism) of Indonesian literature especially in the University of Gadjah Mada, Faruk brings the arena (criticism) of Indonesian literature to a new direction with a new angle to bring the literary text towards newer perspective that is identical to the newer view which is a part of the habitus in Indonesian literature. Keywords: Arena, Practice, Positions.

Abstract

This paper discusses Indoesian Lombok poem as a form of resistance toward Tuan Guru (master teacher) hegemony in Lombok. In 2000s, Tuan Guru achieved hegemonic position in Lombok. This paper uses the Gramsci hegemony theory because literary work is assumed to have hegemonic power. The result shows that the conception of Islam is formed in the story of Dewi Rengganis which tells the mixture of Arabic and Lombok Islam. Arabic Islam shows the aspects of form and Lombok Islam shows the substance. Tuan Guru comes with an orthodox Arabic discourse. The poem cleverly chooses the teacher as one way to make the public believe that the ideal teacher is Tuan Guru whose knowledge goes to the prophet. The concept was strengthened through the institutions of Nahdlatul Wathan and Pondok Pesantren. This pesantren boarding school education institution has made the hegemonic position of Tuan Guru last until now. Tuan Guru's hegemony reached its peak when the customs of shoving could be standardized into Islamic law. This pesantren boarding school education institution has made the hegemonic position of Tuan Guru last until now. Tuan Guru's hegemony reached its peak when the customs of sorong serah were standardized into Islamic law. It was in this context that Indonesian Lombok poetry was present to put up a fight against the discourse Tuan Guru. Finally, The poetry sorong serah, nyongkolan and pembayun elevated the discourse of tradition in discursive formation about Lombok.

The analysis showed that Sasak women struggle their dignity as a woman. Rinjani and Malaysia was mobilized to construct the meaning of woman. Rinjani as a Sasak’s cosmological centre was used to justify the action to struggle the dignity of Sasak woman. Dignity cannot be reached even by money. Malaysia only gave pain. Malaysia did not give happiness, but only gave pain. Sri Rinjani’s effort in achieving dignity was helped by a rich Sasak man, who  was in the same age of his father. For the dignity, she marry with Pak Kamil, so the kindness was give as husband and wife. Dignity cannot be achieved by the effort of Sasak woman herself, but also by the contribution of Sasak man. The effort in achieving dignity was the construction of Sasak woman in 2000’s until now.

Abstract

This article discusses the meaning of love in Lombok Indonesian literature. The meaning of love is discussed in the context of romanticism. This article tries to answer what is the meaning of love if it tends to the poles of the ideal world or to the poles of the real world. This article describes the conceptualization of love in Lombok Indonesian literature. To explain this problem, this article uses representation theory with semiotic analysis method. The theory assumes that literary works are a representation of reality, not a presentation of reality. Literary work as a sign which is the unity between a signifier and signified, both at the level of language and  myth. This article shows that the tendency of love to the poles of ideal world, interprets love as loyalty and responsibility. While the tendency of love to the poles of the real world, interpreting love as liberating feeling. The tendency of the meaning of love, which reject both poles, constructs the meaning of love as a blessing for other, not as suffering for other. The tendency to unite the poles, the ideal and the real, constructs love as of act of elopement, merarik.

Abstract

This article discusses the meaning of Lombok in contemporary Indonesian novels with a focus on the novel Sanggarguri. The novel discusses the concept of heterodox teachers in Islam. The novel is presented in the context of opposing orthodox Islamic discourse on the concept of ‘guru’. To discover the concept of ‘guru’ in Sanggarguri, this article applies representation theory with a constructionist approach. With that approach, the novel is assumed not to be a presentation about Lombok, but a representation of Lombok. Data were language, both word and paragraph, both in narrative and metaphorical form. Data analysis was performed using semiotic and discourse methods. The results of the analysis show that the novel Sanggarguri conceptualizes Lombok into a traditional discourse by using the names of flowers (kembang) as stages that exist in Sasak Islamic spirituality. The stages from gadung flower to ‘Sanggar Guri teacher’, a wisdom expert teacher, reveal that the concept of a teacher in heterodox Sasak Islam is open to anyone. It belongs to anyone and anywhere. The concept is different from the concept of ‘guru’ in orthodox Islam promoted by ‘tuan guru’, whose knowledge is connected to Haramain. Therefore, only a few people can become ‘tuan guru’. The discourse of ‘guru’ in Sanggarguri is against the discourse of ‘tuan guru’ on the meaning of ‘guru’.

Abstract

This article aims to introduce the latest Indonesian Lombok short stories as well as look at the discursive power of these short stories in shaping the worldview of high school students. This article highlights the short story's ability to influence how students make decisions if the students are in socio-cultural conditions as shown by the short story. This article is an effort to socialize Lombok culture in Indonesian literature which is designed as a community service scheme. The service program uses structural theories and methods and discourse analysis. The results of the community service show that the short story raised the awareness of high school students in understanding the Sasak culture of elopement. Students previously understood the culture of elopement as a culture that is taken for granted, but through the justice scheme, students realized that the Sasak culture of elopement is a culture that favors men. In this context, the worldview of high school students tends to reject tradition and chooses to be a modern person, refusing to be governed by custom.
