Abstract

Procrastination is an act of postponing, not completing a job at it’s disposal. This article aims to find out what factors influence university students who participate in organizations doing academic procrastination. This research uses a qualitative method which is carried out by reviewing descriptive literature such as journals. Inclusion criterias in the searching process are (1) research that examines the procrastination factors of university students who participate in organizations, (2) The subject of this study is University Students as the Organizer, (3) research conducted in 2015-2022. Meanwhile, the exclusion criterias are articles that do not meet the inclusion criteria and theses or papers that have not been published as publications. Based on the literature review, The results show the factors that influence the level of procrastination of students who participate in organizations are grouped into two factors: internal and external factors. Internal factors include: tend to have interrole conflict, lack of self-management, poor and disorganized time management, poor self-regulated learning, irrational thoughts, low self-efficacy. Meanwhile, external factors include: high levels of student activity in participating in organizations, the influence of peers or peer groups, having higher conformity with their organizational groups than students who do not join organizations.

Abstract

This research was conducted to explore the source of anxiety and coping strategy of youth during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. A qualitative survey was conducted online with 365 young people aged 15-23 year. Six themes arise in this study that show sources of anxiety of young people, namely: a) fear of being infected with the COVID-19, b) uncertainty about the future, c) social relation problems, d) academic-related anxiety, e) family economic problems, f) exposure to information on cases of COVID-19 infection. We also found eight coping strategies to deal with anxiety, namely religious coping, active coping, making meaning, seeking emotional support, optimism, avoidance, emotional regulation, and exercises. The findings implied that young people develop religiosity and in combination with other coping strategies to endure the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19. This finding implies that psychological interventions should address religious coping to help young people to cope with various sources of anxiety during stressful life events such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The high prevalence of depressive mental disorder along with its serious impacts requires a comprehensive treatment with pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Phy- sical exercise as a method of non-pharmacological therapy has been shown to be beneficial for the prevention and the cure of diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of physical exercise on the level of depression in patients with mild and moderate depression in Surakarta Mental Hospital. This study was an experimental study. The results showed that overall exercise had a significant influence on the decrease in the level of depression (t = 7.375, p = .002). However, physical exercise did not have a significant effect on reducing depression levels in the group of mild depression (t = 1.858, p = .529). Several limitations of this study may lead to the results of this study were not entirely as hypothesized. Prevalensi gangguan jiwa depresi yang tinggi serta disertai dampak yang serius memerlukan penanganan komprehensif secara farmakologis maupun non farmakologis. Latihan fisik sebagai salah satu metode terapi non farmakologis, terbukti telah memberikan manfaat yang besar bagi pencegahan dan penyembuhan penyakit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguji pengaruh latihan fisik terhadap tingkat depresi pada pasien dengan tingkat depresi ringan dan sedang di Rumah Sakit Jiwa Daerah Surakarta. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan latihan fisik memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada penurunan tingkat depresi (t = 7.375, p = .002). Namun demikian, latihan fisik tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan bagi penurunan tingkat depresi pada kelompok depresi ringan (t = 1858, p = .529). Beberapa keterbatasan dalam penelitian ditengarai mempengaruhi hasil dalam penelitian ini sehingga tidak sesuai dengan hipotesis yang diajukan.

Abstract

Aggressiveness may lead to various negative effects on children. Therefore, early intervention on aggressiveness is necessary. One approach of the intervention is to teach prosocial behavior by using media, especially children film. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of children prosocial film on aggressiveness. Total subjects were 56 first grade students. Instrument used in this study was an aggressiveness observation sheet designed and based on the physical aggression theory (Tremblay & Nagin, 2005) and verbal aggression theory (Vissing, Straus, Gelles & Harrop, 1991). Result showed that children prosocial film reduces the students’ aggressiveness. Moreover, students who watched the children prosocial film have lower aggressiveness compared to students who watched a neutral children film. Therefore, parents and educators could use children prosocial film as an effective way to treat aggressiveness. Agresivitas dapat menimbulkan berbagai dampak negatif pada anak-anak sehingga penanganan agresivitas sejak dini perlu dilakukan. Salah satu cara menangani agresivitas adalah dengan mengajarkan perilaku prososial melalui media, terutama film anak. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui pengaruh film anak bertema prososial terhadap agresivitas. Total subjek berjumlah 56 orang siswa kelas I Sekolah Dasar. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi agresivitas yang dirancang berdasarkan teori mengenai perilaku agresif fisik (Tremblay & Nagin, 2005) dan agresif verbal (Vissing, Straus, Gelles & Harrop, 1991). Penelitian ini memperoleh hasil bahwa film anak bertema prososial mampu menurunkan agresivitas. Agresivitas siswa yang menonton film anak bertema prososial juga lebih rendah dibandingkan agresivitas siswa yang menonton film anak netral. Oleh karena itu, orang tua dan pendidik dapat menggunakan film anak bertema prososial sebagai salah satu cara yang efektif untuk menangani agresivitas anak.
