Abstract

The writing of this article is motivated by the absence of a collection on traditional musical instruments in the library of SD Negeri 33 Rawang Barat, Padang City. This project aims to describe: (1) the process of creating an information repackaging of various Minangkabau traditional musical instruments as a library collection for SD Negeri 33 Rawang Barat; and (2) the trial results of the information repackaging of various Minangkabau traditional musical instruments as a library collection for SD Negeri 33 Rawang Barat. This final project was carried out using a descriptive method, with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and literature study. Based on the completion of this final project, the following results were obtained. First, the creation of the information repackaging can be carried out in six stages: (1) determining the knowledge or specific topic based on the target users; (2) identifying users’ needs through interviews, questionnaires, or observation; (3) selecting a packaging format that suits the users’ needs and interests; and (4) determining the channel for information dissemination. Second, the trial of the information repackaging product as a school library collection was conducted using trial questionnaires divided into two parts: (1) the information aspect trial questionnaire obtained a score of 100% with an “Excellent” rating (A); and (2) the physical aspect trial questionnaire obtained a score of 95.83% with an “Excellent” rating (A). Overall, the final result shows that the appearance of the information repackaging about various Minangkabau traditional musical instruments in the library of SD Negeri 33 Rawang Barat, Padang has been successfully implemented with excellent results.

Abstract

This research aims to design a Thematic Literacy Program as a strategy to introduce parliamentary concepts to young children at the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Library, addressing the challenges of incidental, unstructured, and non-parliament-specific literacy visit materials. The program seeks to enhance basic literacy while systematically and interactively introducing parliamentary concepts. The Backward Design method was employed, involving: (1) identifying learning outcomes, (2) determining assessment evidence, and (3) designing interactive activities such as storytelling and role-playing. Additionally, the Design Thinking approach was used to develop an educational game, Gigih si Garuda: Adventure in the World of Parliament, through empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test stages. Results from a limited trial on May 7, 2025, and community testing showed positive responses to the game’s design and mechanics, proving its effectiveness as a national education tool, reinforcing the library’s role as a democratic knowledge hub.

Abstract

Penulisan tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penyusunan panduan program bercerita guna menumbuhkan kecintaan laut pada anak di Perpustakaan Archivelago Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan. Metode penulisan yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif, yaitu mendeskripsikan suatu objek terkait tempat dan kondisi. Metode pengembangan produk yang digunakan adalah ADDIE yang terdiri atas 5 tahapan yaitu: Analisis ( Analysis ), Desain ( Design ), Pengembangan ( Development ), Implementasi ( Implementasi ), dan Evaluasi ( Evaluate ). Namun tahapan yang digunakan hanya sampai pada tahapan implementasi karena tahapan evaluasi berada di luar tanggung jawab penulis. Berdasarkan penulisan tugas akhir yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan tahapan pembuatan program storytelling untuk menumbuhkan kecintaan pada laut di Perpustakaan Archivelago Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan bagian menjadi empat tahapan menyesuaikan metode ADDIE yang digunakan. Tahapan pertama, analisis dengan mengidentifikasi penyebab, penentuan tema, dan pra-perencanaan program storytelling agar tujuan dapat tercapai sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Tahapan kedua, desain produk dengan menentukan media yang digunakan serta penjabaran tahapan pembuatan produk Program Storytelling untuk Menumbuhkan Kecintaan pada Laut di Perpustakaan Archivelago Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan. Adapun tahapan pembuatan produk yaitu (1) pengumpulan bahan; (2) mendesain buku Program Storytelling untuk Menumbuhkan Kecintaan Laut di Perpustakaan Archivelago Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan. Tahapan ketiga, pengembangan produk dengan melibatkan pendapat validator. Validasi dinilai dari dua aspek yaitu aspek informasi produk dan aspek desain produk. Setelah dilakukan penyempurnaan melalui pendapat validator, produk dinyatakan sangat layak untuk digunakan di Perpustakaan Archivelago Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan. Tahapan Keempat, presentasi dan pengimplementasian produk di Perpustakaan Archivelago Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the socio-cultural dimensions of literacy practice in children at the Taman Bacaan Masyarakat Posko Ilmu Kota Padang. This research was using a descriptive qualitative method. Snowball sampling was used as the technique for determining informants, which is determining informants from a few to a lot according to directions from previous informants for the needs of researchers in providing complete and accurate information. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation, and documentation methods. This study uses source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that (1) the family environment in literacy practice at the Taman Bacaan Masyarakat Posko Ilmu Kota Padang influences literacy practices carried out by children caused by the way parents educate their children, family economic conditions, and parents' attention, (2 ) the community environment in literacy practices at the Taman Bacaan Masyarakat Posko Ilmu Kota Padang influences literacy practices carried out by children caused by children's activities in the community, social friends, mass media, and forms of community life.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the information seeking behavior of teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Pantai Cermin. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The research instrument is a questionnaire. The instrument test uses validity and reliability tests. Data were analyzed using the mean to calculate the average value of each statement and calculate the grand mean to calculate the average of each indicator and variable. The results showed: (1) very high category initiation, high category exploration, high category monitoring, high category categorizing, high category sifting, high category resource selection, high category collection, and very high ending category. (2) the teachers of SMA Negeri 1 Pantai Cermin look for information using the internet rather than going to the library. (3) there are statements with low average scores on exploration, monitoring, categorizing, and collection.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the use of information on the TikTok Shop application as a means of online buying and selling among students of the Information and Library Science Department, Padang State University. This type of research is quantitative research using descriptive methods. The population of this study was 655 students with a sample of 87 respondents. Sampling uses a purposive sampling technique, namely sampling based on certain characteristics. The results of this research show that the use of product information got an average score of 3.07 in the good category, the use of price information got an average score of 2.99 in the good category, the use of transaction information got an average score of 3.18 in the good category and User experience obtained an average score of 3.03 in the good category. Thus, the use of information on the TikTok Shop application in online buying and selling by students of the Department of Information Science and Libraries at Padang State University is said to be good.

Abstract

This research aims to determine deficiencies or gaps that occur in the Andalas University Library reference services, so that improvements can be made according to targets. This research uses the DEM (Discrepancy Evaluation Model) model or what is called the gap evaluation model which focuses on three stages, namely input, process and output. This approach uses quantitative research with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques through questionnaires and interviews. This research data was obtained from distributing questionnaires to readers who used reference services. The population in this study were 264 users of Andalas University library reference services from January 2022 to August 2022. The samples in this study were taken using a non-probability sampling design with the Accidental Sampling technique so that a sample of 73 people was obtained. The results of research regarding the evaluation of reference services at the Andalas University Library are described as follows: First, the Librarian dimension obtained an average of 2.70. Second, the Collection dimension which obtained an average of 2.39. Third, the catalog dimension obtained an average of 2.85. Fourth, the Library Reference Service dimension which obtained an average of 2.47. Fifth, the Information Retrieval Service dimension which obtained an average of 2.87. Sixth, the Visitor Data dimension obtained an average of 2.94. Seventh, the Collection dimension obtained an average of 2.93. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the evaluation of reference services at the Andalas University Library obtained an overall average score of 2.73. This score is in the good interval class, namely 2.50-3.24, which means that reference services have been implemented well at the Andalas University Library.

Abstract

This research aims to describe read aloud strategies in increasing children's interest in reading, both at home and at school. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The results of this research show three main findings: (1) the implementation of the read aloud strategy in increasing children's interest in reading involves the stages of preparation, implementation and evaluation of the activity; (2) factors inhibiting read aloud practice in increasing children's interest in reading, both at school and at home, consisting of internal factors originating from teachers, parents and students themselves as well as external factors including the environment and children's learning media; and (3) the impact of implementing the read aloud strategy in increasing children's interest in reading, which not only succeeded in enriching their vocabulary but also aroused imagination and curiosity. Based on these three findings, it can be concluded that the application of read aloud effectively helps children understand story lines, language structures and new concepts more easily, thus making a positive contribution in increasing their interest in reading.

Abstract

This research aims to describe generation Z's information seeking patterns via social media among Kakao Webtoon fans. This research is qualitative research with a case study method. Determining informants in this research was carried out using a purposive sampling method. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observation and documentation methods. Validation of data was carried out by triangulating sources and analyzing through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that in the initiation stage, generation Z feels the need for information due to encouragement or certain moments. In the selection stage, generation Z chooses social media and accounts that are considered relevant. Generation Z's exploration stage formulates the information they will seek and suits their needs, such as specific and interesting information. This information can be seen from the caption, official account, as well as seeing other people's responses to the post. In the collection stage, generation Z stores the information obtained using the bookmark, like, save and share links to save. The information that has been obtained is also shared via send DM, retweet, quote tweet, story and share link, which is found on social media. The presentation stage uses information for one's own benefit which is used for mutual discussion between fellow fans.
