Abstract

Background: The Indonesian government has established the latest family-based approach to implement the national strategy to accelerate the reduction of stunting in Indonesia through a family-based intervention approach. Family-based intervention is proven scientifically efective in preventing growth retardation in children under five. However, this research was conducted on families with children aged 0-2 years so that all of the presented problems can be used as a reference in providing family-based interventions. This study aims to describe family health practices in preventing stunting among the people in the border areas of Indonesia and Timor Leste. Subjects and Method: This was a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design, conducted from May to June 2022. A total of 257 families (out of a total population of 566) with children aged 0-24 months spread across 16 integrated healthcare centers (Posyandu) at the Haliwen Health Center, Belu District, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. The subjects in this study were selected by simple random sampling. The single variable in this study was family health practices in preventing stunting, consists of 18 indicators adopted and elaborated from presidential regulation 72 concerning accelerating the reduction of stunting. the data collected by a set of questionnaires. The data analyze by univariate analysis to describe frequency (n) and percentage (%) of each indicators. Results: Out of a total of 18 assessed indicators, most families still use open garbage cans, burning garbage for destruction, and did not carry out pre-marital health screening. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that most of the health indicators had been carried out by families with infants under two years old. It is in line with the growth status of under-two, most of whom are not stunted. Keywords: stunting, children under two, family-based intervention. Correspondence: Maria Paula Marla Nahak. Abstract

Abstract

Schools are one of the targets of the Community-Based Total Sanitation program in the form of an area that is a strategy for improving PHBS. School-age children (6-10 years) are the most vulnerable to disease transmission. Schools can also be a place of learning and a threat of disease transmission if not appropriately managed. On the other hand, the number of school children who reach 30% of the total population of Indonesia is the potential as an "Agent of Change" to promote health in schools, families, and communities. Service activities were carried out at SDK Wehor, Kabuna, Kakuluk Mesak District, Belu Regency, Province of East Nusa Tenggara. Service activities for class I (one) students. Health screening was carried out by counseling and demonstration methods using a phantom/mannequin model of children's teeth, toothbrush, microtoice, scales, tuning fork (fork), and Snellen Chart. The students were very enthusiastic about participating in health counseling and screening activities from the beginning to the end of the event. The level of dental and oral hygiene of school-age children (Wehor SDK) 95% of school-age children, especially in Wehor SDK, have nutritional status with obesity category as much as 35.3% eye and ear health of all normal students.

Abstract

Introduction: Maternal to child transmission of infectious diseases such as HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B remains a major global health concern. The “Triple Elimination” program integrates early detection and prevention strategies for these infections within maternal health services. However, limited maternal knowledge and awareness impede optimal screening participation, especially in developing regions. Educational interventions using audiovisual media such as videos have shown promise in improving maternal understanding and promoting health-seeking behavior. Objective: To determine the effect of video-based education on the knowledge of pregnant women regarding triple elimination screening at RSUD Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD., Atambua, Belu. Method: A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted among 32 pregnant women attending antenatal care (ANC) during October–November 2025. Participants received an educational intervention using a health education video about triple elimination. Data on knowledge were collected using a validated questionnaire, and statistical analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Result: The median knowledge score before the intervention was 13 (minimum 5; maximum 15), while after the intervention it increased to 16 (minimum 13; maximum 16). Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference in pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.001), indicating that video-based education effectively improved maternal knowledge. Conclusion: Video-based education significantly enhances pregnant women’s knowledge regarding triple elimination screening. The use of audiovisual media in maternal health education should be integrated into antenatal services to strengthen awareness and early detection of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B.

Abstract

Introduction: Pain following cesarean section (SC) is a major postoperative issue that can disrupt maternal recovery and breastfeeding. Pharmacological pain control alone is often insufficient, hence complementary approaches like hypnotherapy are essential. Objective: The aim of this activity is to enhance the competence of midwives and empower postpartum mothers in managing pain after sectio caesarea surgery through the application of hypnotherapy as a non-pharmacological intervention based on education and hands-on practice at Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD Hospital, Atambua. Method: Conducted from September–October 2025 at RSUD Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD., Atambua, this activity used an educational quasi-experimental approach involving 30 postpartum mothers and 10 midwives. Participants received training and practical hypnotherapy sessions. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after intervention. Result: The average pain intensity decreased from 4.9 (moderate) to 2.8 (mild) after therapy. 83% of mothers experienced better relaxation and sleep, and 90% of midwives reported increased confidence in using hypnotherapy. From a psychological perspective, hypnotherapy has a significant impact on the emotional stability and self-confidence of postpartum mothers. Participants reported an increased ability to cope with pain without fear and experienced a greater sense of calmness during the recovery period. Conclusion: Hypnotherapy has been proven effective in reducing postpartum pain levels among mothers after sectio caesarea at Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD Hospital, Atambua. This program provides physiological, psychological, and educational benefits for postpartum mothers while enhancing midwives’ competence in implementing non-pharmacological interventions. The implementation of this program is recommended to be integrated into maternity care protocols in regional hospitals and adopted as a sustainable training model for healthcare professionals in border areas.
