Abstract

This research aims to analyse the strategies implemented by Islamic Religious Education teachers in increasing students' interest in learning at SMPN 7 South Konawe. In the educational context, interest in learning is an important factor that can influence the success of the learning process, especially in religious lessons which are often considered less interesting by some students. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method involving direct observation, interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers, school principals and students. The data obtained was analysed descriptively to identify various strategies used by teachers, as well as factors that support and hinder increasing student interest in learning. The research results show that the strategies implemented by teachers include an active learning approach, the use of interesting learning media, and providing motivation through positive reinforcement. Apart from that, students' internal factors, such as personal motivation and family support, also play an important role in increasing their interest in learning. However, there are several obstacles, such as a lack of supporting facilities and challenges in managing heterogeneous classes. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of more effective learning strategies in increasing students' interest in learning, especially in Islamic Religious Education lessons at SMPN 7 South Konawe.

Abstract

Ibn Khaldun’s philosophy of Islamic education presents a comprehensive and integrative perspective that remains deeply relevant to modern pedagogical discourse. This study aims to explore and synthesize Ibn Khaldun’s core educational concepts tarbiyah (development), ta‘līm (instruction), and ta’dīb (ethical cultivation) as a potential framework for addressing contemporary challenges in Islamic education. Using a qualitative approach through a systematic literature review (SLR), the study analyzed nine scholarly articles published between 2021 and 2025. The findings reveal that Ibn Khaldun emphasized the holistic development of learners, not only intellectually but also morally and spiritually, with the goal of producing the insān kāmil (complete human being). His vision of education integrates rational knowledge with divine revelation and aligns with current educational needs such as ethical grounding, learner-centered models, and value-based curriculum design. The discussion highlights that applying Ibn Khaldun’s philosophy to today’s educational systems can offer innovative, ethically rooted, and context-sensitive solutions. This review concludes that his educational framework is highly applicable to shaping future-oriented, morally responsible Islamic pedagogy.

Abstract

This study examines the process of transforming bilingual classes into international classes at MTs Ummusshabri Kendari and analyzes the community's response to the transformation. This article used a case study approach; the research involved in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that this transformation involved significant changes in curriculum, pedagogical approach, and learning infrastructure. MTs Ummusshabri adopted the Cambridge curriculum integrated with the national curriculum and Islamic values. The main challenges include improving teachers' competencies, providing adequate facilities, and balancing international standards and madrasah identity. Community response, especially parents, has been generally positive, although there are concerns regarding tuition fees and academic pressure. The transformation has improved students' English proficiency, critical thinking skills and global outlook. MTs Ummusshabri's success in integrating international standards with Islamic values makes it a potential model for other madrasahs in Indonesia. This research highlights the importance of curriculum adaptation that considers local needs and religious values in the context of international education.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Jigsaw-type cooperative learning model in improving Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning outcomes through a meta-analysis of 13 quantitative studies published between 2011 and 2025. The studies employed various experimental designs, and the analysis used effect size measurements based on Cohen’s d and N-Gain. Results indicate significant improvements in learning outcomes and student motivation, with effect sizes ranging from 0.51 to 1.132—interpreted as moderate to very strong effects. The highest impact was recorded by Aziz et al.’s (2024), while Rahmiati et al.’s (2022) showed moderate gains. Correlational studies and surveys also reported consistent positive effects on students’ cognitive and affective aspects. These findings reinforce the relevance of the Jigsaw model as an effective pedagogical strategy in PAI instruction across education levels. The study recommends broader adoption of this model in the PAI curriculum and emphasizes the need for enhanced teacher training to ensure successful implementation.

Abstract

This study examines soil mesofauna and macrofauna as bioindicators of soil health and ecological integrity across three land-use systems: oil palm plantations, open lands, and bamboo forests. Land-use change increasingly threatens soil biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in tropical regions, where soil organisms are key to nutrient cycling, aggregation, and ecological resilience. Understanding how land use influences soil faunal communities is crucial for assessing belowground integrity. Despite their critical ecological roles, soil faunal indicators are rarely integrated into soil health assessments in tropical systems. Addressing this gap, this study compares soil mesofauna and macrofauna diversity across contrasting land uses to establish their potential as reliable bioindicators. Soil samples were collected from the surface layer (0–10 cm) using standardized coring under uniform topography, soil type, and climate. Systematic random sampling was applied, with mesofauna extracted using Berlese-Tullgren funnels and macrofauna extracted by manual hand-sorting following the TSBF method. Specimens were identified to the order level. Shannon-Wiener analysis showed that bamboo forests supported the most complex and functionally rich communities (mesofauna H′ = 1.498; macrofauna H′ = 0.309), followed by oil palm plantations and open lands. Acari and Collembola were dominant mesofauna sensitive to habitat quality, while Formicidae and Diplopoda reflected higher trophic and structural roles. Open lands exhibited low diversity and dominance of stress-tolerant taxa, indicating reduced ecological function. The integrated assessment of mesofauna and macrofauna provides a robust framework for evaluating soil health, highlighting vegetation complexity as a driver of nutrient cycling, aggregation, and microbial activity.
