Abstract

Suruhan leaves (Peperomia pellucida L.) are known to be rich in secondary metabolites including alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and triterpenoid compounds that have potential as anti-acne so that they can be applied as active ingredients in gel preparations. The purpose of this study was to determine the best base for the formulation of an anti-acne gel preparation of suruhan leaf extract that was physically stable. The research method includes the extraction of suruhan leaves by maceration using 96% ethanol. The gel formulation was designed with variations of carbopol base, HPMC, and Na CMC with a concentration of 2%. Physical stability tests include organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersion, viscosity and adhesion which were carried out before and after accelerated storage using a climatic chamber. The results of this study showed that the gel preparation of the ethanol extract of suruhan leaves using carbopol and HPMC bases produced a physically stable gel based on the results of organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, dispersibility, adhesion and viscosity, before and after accelerated storage.

Abstract

Cui lemon (Citrus microcarpa Bunge), also known as fish lemon or calamansi lemon, contains vitamin C, citric acid and flavonoids which have antiaging potential. This research was conducted to formulate Lemon Cui fruit juice in a sheet mask preparation that meets the physical quality test requirements. The method of this research is that a sample of Lemon Cui juice is obtained by grinding it using a blender by adding enough water and then separating the pulp until the juice is obtained. The sheet mask formulation used varying concentrations of Cui lemon juice lyophilisate samples, namely F1 (0.5%), F2 (1%), F3 (1.5%), and negative control (without lyophilisate). Physical quality testing includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests and irritation tests. The results obtained were physical quality testing of F1 (0.5%), F2 (1%), F3 (1.5%), and negative control (without lyophilisate) fulfilling the physical quality test requirements, including organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, and irritation test.

Abstract

Lemon cui (Citrus microcarpha Bunge) also called lemon fish or lemon kalamansi is a type of local orange which the majority grows in the North Sulawesi area. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of the lemon cui juice sheet mask formula. This research method began with the freeze-drying method until lyophilizate of lemon cui juice was obtained followed by sheet mask formulation with concentration variations in F1 (0.5%), F2 (1%) and F3 (1.5%) and testing antioxidant activity against DPPH radicals analyzed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 505 nm. The results of the antioxidant activity test on lyophilizate of lemon juice cui obtained an average IC50 value of 13.67 μg/mL which is classified as very strong. The results of the antioxidant activity test on lyophilizate of lemon juice cui obtained an average IC50 value of 13.67 μg / mL which is classified as very strong. The results of the antioxidant activity test on each formula on F1 (0.5%) obtained an average IC50 value of 54.338 μg / mL classified as strong, F2 (1%) obtained an average value of IC50 of 31.963 μg / mL classified as very strong and F3 (1.5%) obtained an average value of IC50 of 23.439 μg / mL classified as very strong. The results of the antioxidant activity test show that the lemon juice cui sheet mask formula can also have potential as an antiaging. Keywords: Lemon Cui (Citrus microcarpha Bunge); Antioxidant; Sheet Mask

Abstract

Various forms of medicine can provide options for using drugs to the public such as patch. The research purpose was to determine variation concentration of Polyvinylpirolidone (PVP) and Ethyl cellulose (EC) as polymer patch which obtain the best physical characteristics of the Orthosiphon stamineus leaves ethanol extract patch. The ethanol extract of Orthosiphon stamineus leaves was obtained through maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. The extract was formulated in the form of patch using the solvent casting method. The result showed that the best physical characteristics patch formulation was the F3 formula (250 mg of EC and 25 mg of PVP) with organoleptic test (a brownish green color, square shape and characteristic odor), patch humidity ( 3,64%), the average weight uniformity test (0.567 gram ± 0.01) and the patch thickness test (0.375 mm ± 0.02).
