Abstract

In order to participate in the international fuel-efficient vehicle competition, a team from the Mechanical Engineering department of Mataram University has prepared a prototype vehicle. The competition is The Shell Eco-Marathon, held at the International Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Lombok in July 2023 and attended by several teams from abroad. For this purpose, the team has developed an energy-efficient prototype vehicle using a two-wheeler engine. The team has modified the two-wheeler engine to achieve more fuel-efficient consumption compared to conventional vehicles. The study involves checking the two-wheeler engine's condition, conducting engine startup experiments, and analyzing engine performance. The Mandalika Desantara racing team reduced the piston diameter to minimize the combustion chamber volume. The results of the engine modification on the prototype vehicle show a fuel consumption rate of 71.66 km/l when driving on the Mandalika circuit. However, this figure has not yet reached the desired level of efficiency, considering that the estimated fuel consumption of vehicles with conventional motor engines is around 40-50 km/l.

Abstract

Semakin menipisnya cadangan minyak dunia menyebabkan harga bahan bakar minyak (BBM) terus melambung. Kondisi ini menyebabkan masalah yang serius yang perlu diatasi. Potensi energi yang diperbaharui seperti : energi angin, matahari dan gelombang laut  perlu segera dilirik walaupun mungkin sudah terlambat. energi potensial dan kinetik yang terkandung pada gelombang laut dapat  dikonversikan untuk pemanfaatan tenaga listrik maupun pompa air bersih dan irigasi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk memanfaatkan potensi energi gelombang untuk dikonversi menjadi tenaga listrik.  Adapun manfaat penelitian ini adalah akan diperoleh metode dan sumber energi alternative yang ramah lingkungan serta tidak membutuhkan bahan bakar minyak. Energi alternatif ini ditunggu pemanfaatannya oleh masyarakat.    Kegiatan penelitian diawali dengan studi literatur untuk mengkaji penelitian yang terdahulu, mencari perumusan dengan teori yang ada. Hasil studi literatur dilanjutkan membuat disain atau rancangan alat dengan perhitungan–perhitungan. Perhitungan mengacu pada prinsip pemanfaatan energi gelombang laut semaksimal mungkin. Dari perhitungan tersebut sangat menentukan langkah selanjutnya seperti pembuatan bentuk, pemilihan bahan, menentukan alat ukur dan model pengukuran.             Konversi energi dari gelombang ke piston yang paling efektif terjadi pada saat pelampung (piston) diberikan beban W setengah dari Fa Total (W=Fa/2 total) dibandingkan pada saat tak berbobot (W=0) maupun pada saat piston diisi penuh (W=Fa total).            Dari hasil pengujian ternyata prototype pemerataan gelombang laut dengan sistem aksi ganda mampu menghasilkan energi listrik. Pada saat gelombang naik, energi gelombang menekan tuas melalui pelampung yang selanjutnya memutar roda gigi yang telah terhubung dengan generator listrik. Sedangkan pada saat gelombang turun roda gigi juga berputar akibat berat pelampung yang telah diiisi pemberat air.

Abstract

One of major sources of air pollution is the result of combustion exhaust gases of automotive engines. As it is known that the process of fuel combustion from motor fuel produces exhaust gases which theoretically contain elements of CO, NOx, HC, CO2, H2O and N2, where many of which are polluting the surrounding environment in the form of air pollution. The use of LPG fuel for gasoline engine can be done by adding a piece of equipment called a conversion kit. In this study the fuel in the LPG gas injected in the intake manifold with some variation of spin injection with 3000 rpm, 4500 rpm and 6000 rpm for each transmision rate (Neutral s / d Gear 4). The result showed that the injection of fuel gas LPG in the rear position (P3) in getting a decrease in fuel Consumtion (FC) is optimal compared to other injection position (P1, P2). In addition the maximum fuel. Consumtion obtained at transmission rate at each round of variation mesin. Lowes CO emission levels found in LPG fuel injection in the rear position (P3) on the engine rev 3000 rpm kadar CO2 in round 3000 engine rpm optimum obtained from the use of LPG gas fuel injection in the rear position (P3) fornearly all transmision levels. Lowest HC emission values obtained on the location of the feul gas injection LPG rear position (P3) at 3000 rpm rotation at the 4th gear.

Abstract

Fuel quality had a major effect on improvement of the engine performance. One of the reason is the engine performance to get off is detonation occurs in the combustion chamber. To support this effort is by using high octane fuel as Pertamax. By using those fuel, it is expected to economize the fuel consumption and reduces air pollution level. There by the improvement of the engine performance is expected to be happening.  This research was done to analyse the effect of premium and pertamax consumption in terms of torque, effective power and specific fuel consumption effective (SFCe) on Daihatsu Feroza engine 1589 cc. The instrument for measuring the torque of engine were trommel and brake power system by using brake material that adopts brake prony system.  The experiment was done at wide open throttle (WOT) at fourth transmission at 1600 rpm, 2100 rpm, 2600 rpm, 3100 rpm, and 3600 rpm.  The experiment result was gained maximum of torque, effective power and specific fuel consumption effective (SFCe) to premium gasoline RON 88 at 3600 rpm severally is 12,92 Kg.m, 64,93 PS and 0,10 L/PS.jam and to pertamax gasoline RON 92 severally is 13,52 Kg.m, 67,97 PS and 0,09 L/PS.jam. Average increasing of torque and effective power equal to 6,52% and 6,79%. While the average degradation of spesific fuel consumption effective (SFCe) equal to 16,18%.

Abstract

Sosialisasi dan Penerapan Ergonomi untuk Keselamatan, Kesehatan Kerja (K3) bekerjasama dengan Mitra UKM yaitu UD. Samuni dengan sasaran intinya adalah karyawan dan pemilik usaha. Berdasarkan hasil pendahuluan dengan cara observasi diketahui bahwa pengrajin mebel beruga kayu bekerja dalam sikap kerja yang statis. Pekerja juga mempunyai karakteristik yang berbeda seperti jenis kelamin, usia dan masa kerja yang memungkinkan adanya kelelahan setelah bekerja. Selama bekerja, para perajin tidak menggunakan alat keselamatan diri. Berdasarkan kondisi seperti ini perlu dilakukan sosialisasi konsep kerja ergonomi serta pemanfaatan alat keselamatan diri sehingga program K3 di mitra terealisasi. Kegiatan penyuluhan dan demonstrasi di lokasi mitra berlangsung selama 1 hari dengan melibatkan seluruh karyawan dan pemilik usaha. Materi yang diberikan yaitu pengenalan konsep kerja ergonomi (posisi, waktu dan gerak) dan pengenalan alat pendukung keselamatan dan kkesehatan kerja, fungsi, dan cara menggunakan secara benar. Alat keselamatan diri seperti helm, sarung tangan, kaca mata, masker, alat pelingdung telinga dan sepatu. Kuisioner di awal dan akhir penyuluhan akan memberikan gambaran bagaimana perubahan tingkat kesadaran karyawan terhadap keamanan dan keselamatan. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah minimal 80% karyawan mau sadar dan menerapkan konsep kerja ergonomi serta menggunakan alat pelindung keselamatan secara rutin sehingga mampu menunjang pelaksanaan penerapan K3 di tempat kerja. Mitra akhirnya memahami bahwa bekerja secara benar akan membantu mereka bekerja secara sehat, efektif dan efisien. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian ini terlaksana dengan baik dan mitra sangat antusias berinteraksi serta bersifat terbuka menerima transfer iptek dari tim. Keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja menjadi hal yang prioritas untuk menjaga kelangsungan usaha mitra.

Abstract

Continuously variable transmission (CVT) technology is currently something that is very commonly used in motorcycles for various reasons of practicality in use. This encourages the importance of CVT technology literacy in motorcycles to emerge in this context, because the CVT system has characteristics that inherently support fuel efficiency. CVT allows riders to enjoy smooth transmission ratio changes without the need for manual gear shifting. This is an advantage especially in urban traffic situations that often involve stop-and-go patterns, where the CVT system can keep the engine operating at an efficient speed. However, in order for the benefits of CVT to be felt to the maximum, riders need to understand how this technology works. CVT technology literacy includes knowledge of how to use the CVT system optimally, avoiding riding styles that can put excessive stress on the transmission, and understanding the maintenance needed to maintain CVT performance. Riders who are educated in CVT technology will apply fuel-efficient riding techniques, such as avoiding sudden acceleration or unnecessary braking, which will not only increase fuel efficiency but also extend the life of the CVT. In addition, regular maintenance, such as checking and replacing the CVT belt according to schedule, can prevent premature damage and ensure that the motorcycle continues to operate at its best performance. With adequate literacy, riders can not only save fuel and operational costs, but also support environmental sustainability by reducing emissions. Therefore, increasing public understanding of CVT technology is a strategic step to create more technologically aware and responsible motorcycle users.
