Abstract

Strong and rigid material is needed to restrain the bending load. Sandwich construction is applied when the stiff light material is needed. Fiberglass is a high strength fibers, while the bamboo fiber is a strong natural fiber. Both of these fiber reinforce composite resin. Compressive strength, bending strength and specific gravity of sandwich composites were discussed in this paper. Composite sandwich with fiberglass-bamboo fiber reinforcement and with a polyurethane rigid foam core sheet 25 mm have been manufactured and tested. Composite sandwich made by two laminated skin and a core. The number of layers fiber and type of composite sandwich were varieted in this study. There was no striking difference in the value of compressive strength of sandwich composite with variations of amount reinforcement layers of the skin. The compressive strength on edge area showed that the number and the type of layer on the skin will determine compressive strength. The compressive strength on the edge area will increase by increasing the number of layers. Bamboo lamina gives a better compressive strength than the fiberglass lamina. Sandwich composite density was lower than the average density of wood, it was ranged from 97.1 to 392.1 kg/m . The bending test was conducted by using four-point bending to determine the bending strength. The highest bending strength of the composite was obtained at 798 N/cm 3 . This value is owned by composite variants with skin consists of two layers of woven bamboo combined with 1 layer of fiberglass.Keywords: sandwich composite, bamboo, specific gravity, bending, polyurethane.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas gabah melalui penggunaan mesin pengering yang berbasis energi terbarukan di Desa Kekeri Kabupaten Lombok Barat Nusa Tenggara Barat. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi dan demonstrasi penggunaan mesin pengering. Demonstrasi mencakup pengoperasian mesin, perawatan, serta pemanfaatan limbah pertanian sebagai sumber energi panas. Selain itu, penyuluhan dilakukan untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang manfaat dan cara penggunaan mesin pengering dalam meningkatkan kualitas dan efisiensi pengolahan gabah. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan mesin pengering signifikan dalam meningkatkan kualitas gabah, mengurangi risiko kerusakan fisik dan kontaminasi, serta meningkatkan efisiensi waktu pengeringan. Teknologi ini juga membantu petani mendapatkan produk gabah berkualitas tinggi yang memiliki daya saing lebih baik di pasaran, serta mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan dengan pemanfaatan energi terbarukan.

Abstract

Peluang dalam memajukan Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) di NTB juga sangat luas, terutama didukung oleh sumber daya alam yang variatif, sehingga memunculkan potensi pengembangan produk-produk turunan. Salah satu contoh UMKM yang perlu diperhatikan adalah usaha produksi briket arang dan Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) di Desa Salut, Lombok Utara. Produk VCO keduanya merupakan produk dari bahan dasar kelapa. Pemasarannya membutuhkan perbaikan karena itu anggota pelaksana kegiatan pengabdian melakukan usaha perbaikan pemasaran usaha produksi briket arang kelapa dan VCO di Desa Salut, Lombok Utara. Pada kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan sosialisasi Pengemasan dan Pemasaran Produk serta Manajemen Keuangan UMKM. Dari kegiatan pengabdian ini diperoleh data produksi berupa pembuatan VCO disertai label dan komposisi. Biaya per produksi untuk VCO Rp 22.000, harga produk perkemasan/volume Rp 30.000/liter dengan nama merek Minyak Goreng Bening.

Abstract

Desa Montong Sapah merupakan desa yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Praya Barat Daya, Kabupaten Lombok Tengah, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat. Desa ini menyimpan begitu banyak potensi baik dari segi alam maupun budaya. Namun desa Montong Sapah sendiri belum dikenal begitu luas oleh khalayak ramai meskipun memiliki potensi yang unggul. Desa ini memiliki keunggulan baik dari segi budaya,alam,serta pertanian dan peternakan yang memang menjadi pekerjaan sehari-hari masyarakat setempat. Salah-satu dari sekian potensi yang ada, menenun merupakan salah satu usaha yang banyak digeluti masyarakat setempat, hanya saja belum banyak mendapatkan perhatian dan diperlukan adanya manajemen yang tepat dalam rangka membangun usaha tenun yang ada di Desa Montong Sapah. Oleh karena itu KKN Tematik Universitas Mataram Desa Montong Sapah Periode Desember 2022-Februari 2023 bertujuan untuk mengembangkan usaha tenun yang ada di Desa Montong Sapah melalui digital marketing sebagai media peningkatan pemasaran dan daya tarik tenun. Metode yang digunakan ialah survey,observasi,praktik,dokumentasi dan promosi. Hasil yang diperoleh dari program ini ialah terbentuknya kelompok tenun Desa Montong Sapah yang kemudian akan memanajemen hasil tenun Desa Montong Sapah yang kemudian akan bekerja sama dengan BUMDES Montong Sapah, selain itu juga mampu meningkatkan manajemen pemasaran tenun melalui seminar kewirausahaan sehingga masyarakat mendapatkan pencerdasan dalam hal digital marketing, selain itu melalui digital marketing tidak hanya tenun desa Montong Sapah yang akan lebih terkenal di kalangan masyarakat secara umum tetapi potensi dari Desa Montong Sapah yang lainnya juga akan ikut terdampak.

Abstract

The long term purpose of this research is to obtain the high quality renewable biogas that can be used as fuel for internal combustion engines to drive an electricity generator as energy diversification efforts in the area of small sustainable islands. The specific target expected to be achieved is a method/technique for absorbing impurities contained in biogas, especially CO2 component. The study was conducted to reduce the level of CO2 in biogas using NaOH solution. The mass flow rates of biogas employed were 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 l/min. The biogas was then tested using an engine to see the effect CO2 on the engine performance at several rotations, i.e. 1500, 2500, 3500, and 4500 rpm. The results show that the torque increases by 21.3% for biogas B2 compared to the unpurified biogas. For biogas B4, the torque increases by 19.1%. While for biogas B6, B8, and B10, the torques increase by 14.9%, 12.8%, and 8.5% respectively. For biogas B2, the SFCE decreases by 33.4%, for biogas B4, the SFCE declines of about 22.7%, while for biogas B6, the SFCE declines by 17.9%. The SFCSs also decline by 13.9% and 8.5% for biogas B8 and B10.

Abstract

Wood material is very popular in indonesia and all over the world, there are so many people who use it as their buildings contruction and also for their home tools, because the wood material is strong, long lasting, green living, save and lux. On the other hand the wood material will be mouldy if it meets water, thats why this material is not suitable to be placed in humid or wet places we need a new material that can be used as the subtitution of the wood material. The aim of this research is to know about how to make the composite of cotton/glass hybrid fiber and its mecanical using epoxy matrix, and then compare it with wood product. The wood product that used in this research is mahoni.The composite making is using hand lay-up method and the variety fraction volume of cotton fiber and glass fiber are : 30% : 0%, 25% : 5%, 20% : 10%, 15% : 15%, 10% : 20%, 5% : 25%, 0% : 30 %, the epoxy matrix volume fraction is 70 %, where the orientasion of cotton fiber is rondom and 2 cm in lenght, whereas the orientasion of the glass fiber is equally with fiber lenght up to the lenght of mould. The researcher did some test they are: bending test that based on ASTM D 790 standart, compression test that based on ASTM D 695 standart.The bending strenght’s mean of all volume fraction’s varieties of cotton/glass hybrid fiber composite shows the higher bending strenght than the bending strenght of mahoni which is used as the comparator. Afterwards the pressing strenght’s mean of cotton/glass hybrid fiber composite especially in  20%:10% and 0%:30% fraction volume varieties, which is have the values orderly 37,74 MPa and 47,53 MPa, and it shows the higher pressing strenght than the pressing strenght of mahoni, it is 36,78 MPa. Based on the recearch that have been done we can conclude that the characteristic of mechamical cotton/glass hybrid fiber composite can be used as the (alternative) wood subtitution especially mahoni.

Abstract

Our research focuses on enhancing the potential of pumpkin seed waste extract as a sustainable corrosion inhibitor for metal (Fe) in 1 M HCl solution. Phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity were identified. Various investigative methodologies including experimental techniques such as Potentiodynamic Polarization (PDP) were used to evaluate the effectiveness of these pumpkin seed waste extract inhibitors in inhibiting corrosion. Electrochemical results showed that the effectiveness of the inhibitor was concentration dependent here reaching 83.11% at 3000 g/L pumpkin seed waste extract inhibitor. The PDP showed that the mixed inhibition control effectively retarded the corrosion of the metal. Furthermore, the adsorption behavior of the pumpkin seed waste extract inhibitor onto the metal follows the Langmuir isotherm model with physisorption properties. The adsorption mechanism of the inhibitor on the metal surface successfully formed a protective film on the metal surface thereby reducing the corrosion rate.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the characteristics of Cissus Sicyoides natural fibers extracted by two different methods, namely mechanical and boiling methods, and their application as reinforcing materials for epoxy resin-based composites. The characteristic of fibers was tested through physical and chemical properties, and fiber morphology, including tensile tests, FTIR, SEM and chemical composition. The results showed that the mechanical method produced fibers with higher tensile strength (431.41 MPa) and rougher surface structures, which support better mechanical bonding in the composite matrix. Meanwhile, the boiling method produced fibers with higher cellulose content (23.05%) and a cleaner and tidier surface. FTIR tests confirmed the presence of hydroxyl and carbonyl groups in both samples, while SEM results showed significant presence in the surface morphology and fiber cross-section. Composites made with fibers from the mechanical method had higher tensile strength (28.97 MPa) compared to composites from the boiling method (9.42 MPa). Overall, Cissus Sicyoides fiber has the potential as a composite reinforcing material with a mechanical extraction method that is superior in producing better mechanical performance. The findings of this study add to the use of local natural fibers as an alternative, ecologically friendly composite reinforcement for lightweight buildings.

Abstract

Teknik mengendarai sepeda motor memiliki dampak langsung pada tingkat konsumsi bahan bakar. Berbagai aspek dalam cara mengemudi sepeda motor dapat mempengaruhi sejauh mana kendaraan dapat memanfaatkan bahan bakar dengan efisien. Akselerasi yang lembut dan bertahap membantu menghindari beban berlebih pada mesin dapat mempengaruhi konsumsi bahan bakar kendaraan. Mesin sepeda motor memiliki titik efisiensi tertinggi pada kecepatan tertentu. Berkendara pada kecepatan yang konsisten dan optimal dapat membantu mesin bekerja pada titik efisiensi yang terbaik sehingga mengurangi konsumsi bahan bakar. Selain itu, mesin yang terawat dengan baik akan memiliki efisiensi yang lebih baik. Dengan memahami dan menerapkan teknik berkendara yang hemat bahan bakar, pemilik sepeda motor dapat membantu mengoptimalkan efisiensi mesin dan mengurangi dampak lingkungan serta biaya operasional kendaraan. Secara umum, sepeda motor yang menggunakan sistem penggerak CVT cenderung memberikan konsumsi bahan bakar yang lebih efisien, terutama dalam kondisi berkendara yang berhenti dan maju secara teratur atau saat berada di dalam lalu lintas dalam kota. Memberikan pelatihan kepada pengendara mengenai teknik berkendara yang efisien atau hemat bahan bakar, seperti menghindari akselerasi yang tidak perlu dan tidak melakukan pengereman yang tiba-tiba, dapat membantu mengurangi tekanan pada sistem transmisi dan meningkatkan efisiensi bahan bakar. Dengan menerapkan teknik-teknik perawatan yang baik, pengendara dapat memastikan bahwa sepeda motor berpenggerak CVT beroperasi pada performa terbaiknya, yang pada akhirnya dapat membantu menghemat konsumsi bahan bakar. Perawatan yang teratur dan praktek terbaik tidak hanya meningkatkan keandalan sepeda motor, tetapi juga memiliki dampak positif terhadap lingkungan dan kantong pengendara melalui pengurangan biaya operasional.

Abstract

Continuously variable transmission (CVT) technology is currently something that is very commonly used in motorcycles for various reasons of practicality in use. This encourages the importance of CVT technology literacy in motorcycles to emerge in this context, because the CVT system has characteristics that inherently support fuel efficiency. CVT allows riders to enjoy smooth transmission ratio changes without the need for manual gear shifting. This is an advantage especially in urban traffic situations that often involve stop-and-go patterns, where the CVT system can keep the engine operating at an efficient speed. However, in order for the benefits of CVT to be felt to the maximum, riders need to understand how this technology works. CVT technology literacy includes knowledge of how to use the CVT system optimally, avoiding riding styles that can put excessive stress on the transmission, and understanding the maintenance needed to maintain CVT performance. Riders who are educated in CVT technology will apply fuel-efficient riding techniques, such as avoiding sudden acceleration or unnecessary braking, which will not only increase fuel efficiency but also extend the life of the CVT. In addition, regular maintenance, such as checking and replacing the CVT belt according to schedule, can prevent premature damage and ensure that the motorcycle continues to operate at its best performance. With adequate literacy, riders can not only save fuel and operational costs, but also support environmental sustainability by reducing emissions. Therefore, increasing public understanding of CVT technology is a strategic step to create more technologically aware and responsible motorcycle users.
