Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ Arabic language errors from Howard Douglas Brown’s perspective, identifying three errors, namely interlingual transfer, intralingual transfer, and context of learning. An interpretive paradigm and qualitative approach were used in this study using a case study method at Daarul Ukhuwwah College (PTDU), Malang. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation, then analyzed using qualitative analysis and data triangulation. The results of the study show that students often make mistakes in Arabic grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation according to Brown’s theory of interlingual transfer, intralingual transfer and context of learning. Students’ perceptions of language errors show a basic understanding of the second language learning process, where errors are considered as a step in understanding and using Arabic. The implications of this study include expanding understanding of the needs of Islamic boarding school students in learning Arabic as well as adapting the curriculum and teaching methods to increase the effectiveness of Arabic language learning in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The internalization of technology in Arabic language learning provides many conveniences for teachers and students in completing their assignments and achieving maximum results. However, you must remain alert to errors that appear in machine searches for Arabic vocabulary. Today, Google Translate (GT) machine learning (ML) can be used to search for Arabic vocabulary and at the same time, be alert to errors. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method for 100 students at the As-Syifa Subang Al-Qur’an Science College, semester 3. The results of this research explain students’ perceptions of ML, where they expect ML to be an interactive medium in learning Arabic. Other results show that in using ML-GT there are several linguistic errors such as grammar, word order, phonetics, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Therefore, Arabic teachers and students can utilize ML in various ways in learning as an adaptive response to current developments. At the same time, teachers must improve their skills in applying learning technology.

Abstract

Pesantren plays a significant role in developing students’ self-regulated learning (SRL) skills, which are reflected in their ability to set learning goals and manage their cognition, motivation, and behavior. However, previous studies did not explore SRL skills among students in pesantren, particularly in those with three secondary education units: MA (Madrasah Aliyah), SMA (Senior High School), and SMK (Vocational School). This study aimed to reveal the average SRL skills of students and their indicators in supporting survival skills (SS) in pesantren. Using a positivistic paradigm and a quantitative approach through survey methods, this research was conducted at Pesantren As-Syifa Al-Khoeriyyah Subang, West Java, Indonesia, involving 99 students from MA, SMA, and SMK levels as samples. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of 30 questions and analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed that the average SRL skill scores for MA students were 55.48, for SMA students 60.12, and for SMK students 57.72, with an overall average score of 57.77. The ANOVA significance test value of 0.012 (< 0.05) indicates a significant difference between groups. This study also highlighted that students’ SRL skills, such as social independence, values, and behavior, were shaped through various programs implemented in the pesantren.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia changed learning patterns from offline to online using technology as media. Hence, Arabic language learning must be well designed but still contains elements of 21st century life skills. This study aims to explore the design of 21st century skills-based Arabic learning which was held during the Covid-19 pandemic at Thursina International Islamic Boarding School Malang, Indonesia. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document studies. The data collected were analyzed using the theory of Miles and Huberman, namely reducing, presenting, and verifying. Furthermore, the data is validated using data triangulation and data sources. This research shows that the implementation of 21st century skills can be done online during the Covid-19 pandemic; achievement indicators refer to the content of elements in 21st century skills known as 4C (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity & inovation) terminology; while the challenges of implementing 21st century skills stem from the skills of teachers in operating technology when presenting subject matter to students. The findings of this study describe that 21st century skills encourage students to become globally competitive human resources. The researcher recommends the next research to test the effectiveness of internalizing 21st century skills with online learning models. Abstract

Social media grows very fast and it has an impact on the high intensity of users in social interaction. One of the media that is often exposed is instagram, it encourages Arabic learning lecturers to internalize it in learning. Thus, this study aims to investigate the effectiveness of instagram on the Arabic speaking skills of STAI Sabili Bandung students and analyze verbal language errors. The quantitative data in the form of pre-test and post-test results were analyzed through experimental methods. Meanwhile, the qualitative data were analyzed by using the inductive method to classify verbal language errors. The findings show that the speaking skills of STAI Sabili Bandung students have a positive significant increase in using of instagram as a means to develop Arabic speaking skills, but there are still errors in spoken language productivity such as vocabulary errors, sentence arrangement and phrasing errors that are in accordance with the context of the sentence. The findings show that there is a positive effectiveness on Arabic speaking skills through the application of instagram media evidenced by the significance value of Two-Sided p of <0.001 <0.05. The limitation of this study is the small sample size. So, it can hardly be generalized to a larger population. The researcher recommends further research to explore more detailed information with various research methods.

Abstract

The qualifications of graduates learning Arabic can be measured by the quality of the curriculum applied. A certified curriculum is qualified when it passes the management process well. The study aims to analyze the management of the Arabic curriculum to produce qualified graduate qualifications. The author uses a descriptive qualitative approach through case study methods at As-Syifa Subang High School. The data was collected through observation phases and interviews with the Deputy Head of the Curriculum School. The results of this study revealed that As-Syifa Subang High School adopted the Merdeka Curriculum with a shared merdeka pattern. The management of the curriculum implementation is carried out after the concepts are well formulated. A variety of curricula include project based-learning, Al-Qur’an deepening, multilingual learning, character education, and entrepreneurship that are integrated into each subject. The findings of this study suggest that in addition to curriculum design there are important bodies that can produce qualified graduate qualifications, that is individual “learners” through good management support and educational materials that are accessible from a variety of sources.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has brought significant changes to the field of education, one of which is trough the integration of digital-based interactive media as a learning tool. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of using digital-based interactive educational media in enhancing students’ creative thinking skills in mahārah qirā’ah at MTs Plus Al-Azhar Wlingi Blitar. This research employed a quantitative method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 22 seventh-grade students selected using a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments included tests measuring students’ critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of educational digital-based interactive media, as well as observations of the learning process. The analysis showed a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking, as evidenced by an average N-Gain score of 0.7687, categorized as high. The validity and reliability tests indicated that the test items were valid and highly reliable (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.807). The data also met the assumptions of normality and homogeneity, which reinforced the validity of the results. During the learning process, students demonstrated active engagement and improved performance across various levels of Bloom's taxonomy, from understanding to creating. Thus, digital-based interactive media have proven to be an effective and enjoyable medium for enhancing creative thinking and text comprehension in Arabic language learning. This study contributes to the development of innovative instructional strategies that align with the characteristics of the digital generation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the intervention in the education of Islam in children using the approach of the verses of the Qur'an. The author uses a library research method that refers to literary sources as research data. Research data comes from the Al-Qur'an and Hadith as primary sources. At the same time, secondary sources are obtained from relevant articles and books. The collected data was then analyzed using content analysis techniques with the following steps: determining the problem, developing a framework for thinking, developing methodological tools, data analysis, and data interpretation. The results show that intervention in Islamic education using a Qur'an and Hadith-based approach can provide a strong foundation in shaping Islamic morality, ethics, and personality in children through various educational methods such as equality, cultivation, care, counsel, and punishment. Combining formal and informal education based on Islamic teachings can create a holistic academic environment for children's spiritual and intellectual development. This research contributes to enriching insights on implementing Islamic education in children through a more targeted and measured approach to using the Qur'an and Hadith as the primary sources in Islamic Education. Its practical implications lead to the development of more effective educational strategies to shape the Islamic character of the younger generation as a supply in the face of the ever-evolving challenges of the times.
