Abstract

The broadening of Mount Halimun Salak National Park (TNGHS) area is unseparable from the trade off between conservation interest and community’ economic interests. An alternative solution to overcome these problems is an action to conduct natural tourism activities in TNGHS. This action is also expected to encourage the participation of community in preserving national parks. The purpose of this study is to examine economic benefits of nature tourism for maintaining the function of conservation of national parks which at the same time can improve the community’ economy in TNGHS area. The methods used are income analysis which includes ratio of economic benefits from tourism activity to total income and covering of economic benefits from tourism to household expenditure and to conservation fund. The results showed that the economic benefits from natural tourism activity obtained by the community was 66% of the total income and it could also fulfil 91% of household expenditure. In addition, ecotourism activities also generate tourism revenue which is called as PNBP as much as 343% of conservation funds.

Abstract

Mangroves provide a wide range of ecosystem services. Therefore, the existence of mangrove ecosystem needs to be maintained ecologically, economically and socially. This study aimed to identify the mangrove ecosystem linkages with shrimp. Data used in this study were primary and secondary data to generalize a case study on shrimp and mangrove ecosystem linkages in Pabean Udik Village Indramayu regency. The economy analysis of the relationship between mangroves and shrimp used mathematical equations by Barbier and Ivar (1994). Mangrove ecosystem linkage with shrimp seen from the marginal productivity of mangrove area (MPM) was 153.454 tons per km2, while the marginal productivity of fishing effort (MPE) wais 0,305 tons per trip using the shrimp catching boat. The study showed that the decline in mangrove ecosystems area would affect the decline in shrimp production, and the increase in mangrove ecosystems area would affect the incrase in the number of shrimp production.

Abstract

Ciletuh in Sukabumi area was inaugurated as a Global Geopark by UNESCO in 2017, and has many potential natural resources such as Palangpang Beach as a leading tourism area of Ciletuh Geopark. Palangpang Beach in Ciletuh Bay is also an estuary area used by fishermen to collect fish in Fish Auction (TPI). Fishermen on Palangpang Beach are categorized as small fishermen according to the size of the capture fishery units, which results in the fishermen on Palangpang Beach prefer to take part in tourist activities by chartering boats for tourists to increase their income. The objectives of the study were to investigate the impact of Geopark establishment on fishermen’s livelihood and to establish ecotourism development strategies in supporting the sustainable livelihood. The method used for sustainable livelihood analysis was descriptive analysis. The results showed that increased sustainable livelihood assets of fishermen were found in human capital, social capital, physical capital, and economic and financial capital, while natural capital assets declined. The Geopark Ciletuh development strategy to improve the sustainable livelihood can be performed through the fishermen involvement in capture fishery and Geopark tourism management such as by becoming a tour guide, a fishing trainer, an educator who educates on fishing weather in fisheries, a mangrove planter, and a coral reef educator. Keywords: capital asset, geopark, descriptive analysis, ecotourism, fish auction

Abstract

Aquaculture in Indonesia has several superior commodities, one of which is eel. Eel (Anguilla bicolor) is a fish with high economic value and a type of fish that is an export commodity (Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Italy, and several other countries). This condition is inversely proportional to the level of domestic eel consumption which is still relatively low. Aquaculture activities provide direct and indirect impacts on the local society, one of them is the economic impact of the existence of giant mottled eel aquaculture in the Banyuwangi District. The research aimed to analyze the economic impact of giant mottled eel aquaculture activities. The Survey research method was used and data were analyzed using descriptive and multiplier effect analysis. The research result of the economic impacts of giant mottled eel aquaculture that provides a positive economic impact on local society is indicated by the development of giant mottled eel aquaculture activities and the other sectors. Keynesian Local Income Multiplier value was 2.65. Type I Multiplier Income Ratio was 1.16 and Type II Multiplier Income Ratio was 1.6.

Abstract

Agriculture is an important sector for the survival of the community. The number of agricultural products is increasing, but in line with the competition for land use with non-agricultural ones. One alternative for agriculture with limited land use is hydroponics. One of the farmer groups that implements the hydroponic system and product processing is Jabong Hydro Farm in Jabong Village, Subang Regency. The training activities aim to increase the capacity of farmers and agricultural business actors in digital-based business and financial management. The training was held in the Jabong Hydro Farm area and was attended by 26 farmers and business actors. The results of the training showed that the Agricultural-Based MSME Product Standardization training encouraged 88% of farmer participants to take care of the Household Industry Food Production Certificate. The training on Calculating the Cost of Goods Sold (HPP) and Determining the Selling Price of Products showed that after participating in the training, 100% of participants knew what HPP was, the components of HPP and how to calculate HPP. Furthermore, Digital Marketing Training caused the greatest increase in understanding regarding various types of digital marketing. The digital-based Simple Bookkeeping Training for MSMEs stated that farmers will implement digital business financial recording with applications on mobile phones because it is considered very helpful and easy to do.

Abstract

Dramaga Research Forest (HPD) is an arboretum forest used for research activities related to the forestry sector. HPD has a wide area with several large trees and several species of birds that can also attract people to do tourism activities. Moreover, the deer sanctuary in the area, as well as the HPD location, which is directly adjacent to Situ Gede Lake, provide added value that can attract visitors to visit. The number of tourists visiting HPD is quite high every year. However, this has not been followed by optimal tourism management since there was no entry fee for visitors. Thus, it is necessary to determine the entrance fee for visitors as the basis for improving the tourism management at HPD. The purpose of this study are to analyze the willingness to pay (WTP) of visitors for HPD entrance fee, to analyze factors that influence the WTP. The Turnbull method and logistic regression are used to answer the research objective. The result shows that the average WTP of visitors obtained through logistic regression is IDR 12,266 per person and IDR 13,200 per person if analyzed using the Turnbull method. The value of the offer (bid), gender, and knowledge of forest function are factors that have a significant effect on the visitors’ WTP.

Abstract

Milkfish pond farming households in coastal areas face considerable social and economic challenges due to environmental vulnerabilities such as tidal flooding, which threaten the sustainability of aquaculture activities and household livelihoods. These conditions highlight the importance of gender roles in maintaining household resilience and well being. This study aims to examine gender roles within milkfish pond farming households in Api-Api Village by analyzing the roles of wives, and husband in productive, domestic, and social management activities. The study employed a case study method with descriptive statistical analysis. The findings indicate that wives domestic roles are the most dominant, particulary in child rearing, household maintenance, and family financial management. Wives productive roles are generally low to moderate, reflected in limited involvement in income generating activities as an adaptive response to declining household income caused by tidal flooding. Wives participation in social management is also relatively low due to limited engagement in formal organizations. In contrast, husband play a dominant role in productive and social activities, while their involvement in domestic task remains limited. Overall, the division of gender roles is complementary but has not yet achieved gender equity.
