Abstract

The low level of self-directed learning among students is a problem in this study and the limited research on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics-based Self-Regulated Learning in physical education is a gap in this research. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) based on Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) is an alternative learning model in Physical Education. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of application Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics based Self-Regulated Learning to develop self-directed learning. This study used quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design and sampling used purposive sampling technique. The participants in this study were students VIII grade. Research was conducted in SMP Laboratorium School UPI with online learning and Limited Face-to-Face Meeting. The instruments of this study used the Self-Rating Scale of Self Directed Learning (SRSSDL). After the sample had completed the treatment, the results of data analysis showed that directed learning aspect was 0.027 with the criterion value (Sig.) = 0.05. Regardless of the results, this is supported by empirical evidence from student behavior, learning, and task making. They showed the development of students' abilities in the learning process did not depend on teachers, friends, class conditions and others. It can be concluded that implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) based on Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) has an effect on develop self-directed learning. This research contributes to learning innovation in physical education, so that teachers can apply this model on an ongoing basis to develop self-directed students. Future research needs to be done, for example trying to apply this model to develop other potentials in students such as motivation, cooperation, or responsibility.

Abstract

Participation in sports and physical activities plays a crucial role in promoting physical fitness and mental well-being among adolescents. However, motivation to engage in such activities often differs across demographic factors, particularly gender and residential background. This study aimed to analyze the differences in sport motivation levels among adolescents based on gender and residential status using the Self-Determination Theory framework. A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 501 students aged 17–21 years majoring in sport and health-related fields. The Sport Motivation Scale-II (SMS-II) was utilized to assess participants’ motivation levels. The Mann–Whitney U test was applied to examine differences between male and female students, as well as between those from rural and urban areas. Findings revealed a significant difference in sport motivation between male and female students, with males showing higher motivation levels. However, no significant difference was observed between students from rural and urban areas. The results indicate that gender remains an influential factor in shaping sport motivation among adolescents. Implementing gender-responsive strategies may enhance youth participation in sports and physical activities. Future studies should further investigate social and environmental factors influencing sport motivation to design inclusive and effective interventions.

Abstract

This study aim to determine the effect of implementing a Game-Based Learning approach through the colored tail ball game (Bonakor) on elementary school students’ gross motor skills. This research used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 second-grade students of SDN 032 Tilil selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument used the Test of Gross Motor Development-Second Edition (TGMD-2). The results showed an increase in the mean TGMD-2 score from 85.8 in the pretest to 97.1 in the posttest, with a difference of 11.3 points. The Paired Samples t-test results indicated a significance value of < 0.001, meaning there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Therefore, the implementation of Game-Based Learning through the Bonakor game significantly improved students’ gross motor skills. The conclusion of this study indicates that a game-based learning approach is effective in improving elementary school students’ gross motor skills. The Bonakor game can be recommended as an alternative instructional media in physical education.   Keywords: Bonakor, Elementary School, Game-Based Learning, Gross Motor Skills, Physical Education.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model on the playing skills and teamwork of elementary school students in mini volleyball games. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 70 fifth-grade elementary school students who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research instruments consisted of the Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) to measure playing skills and a teamwork questionnaire to measure students' teamwork ability. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model had a significant effect on improving students' playing skills (p < 0.001). In addition, students' teamwork also showed a significant improvement after the treatment (p = 0.035). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model is effective in improving the playing skills and teamwork of elementary school students in mini volleyball learning. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) through a tactical approach on mini volleyball playing skills and self-confidence of elementary school students. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent group pretest-posttest design, involving 40 fifth-grade students of SDN 062 Ciujung divided into an experimental group and a control group through purposive sampling technique; data were collected using the Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) and a self-confidence questionnaire, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, and Paired Samples T-Test. The results showed that (1) the TGT model through a tactical approach had a significant effect on improving mini volleyball playing skills (Sig. = 0.000); (2) the model had a significant effect on students' self-confidence (Sig. = 0.000); so it can be concluded that this learning model is effective to be applied as an alternative learning strategy for Physical Education, Sport, and Health in elementary schools. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of audio-visual media on improving the forward roll floor exercise skills of Phase B deaf students in adaptive physical education. Students with hearing impairments face challenges in receiving verbal instructions, which often hinders their understanding of motor skills, especially in complex movements such as the forward roll. This quasi-experimental research used a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 10 students from a special education school. The intervention was conducted over 12 sessions using instructional videos accompanied by visual cues and progressive movement stages. Data were collected using an observation sheet and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ motor performance after the implementation of audio-visual media. The integration of visual-based instruction helped students to better observe, imitate, and internalize movement techniques. This study confirms that audio-visual media is an effective strategy for supporting the learning needs of students with disabilities, especially those with sensory impairments. Moreover, it contributes to the development of inclusive and adaptive physical education practices by encouraging the use of technology to enhance instructional delivery and student engagement.
