Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine of implementation the traditional game of the ‘ular naga’ in improving the locomotor movement of kindergarten children aged 4-5 years. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest. Then the sample consisted of 64 children aged 4-5 years from kindergartens in Paguyangan District, Brebes, Indonesia. There are 32 children who receive treatment using the traditional game 'ular naga' or the experimental group (EG) and 32 children with games that are played freely or the control group (CG). The intervention was carried out for 8 weeks with 2 meetings each week, on Tuesday and Friday, starting at 07.30 - 09.00. Locomotor movement assessment using a validated rubik (table 1). The results of the t-test are EG and CG have an effect on locomotor movement (EG = sig. 0,000 and CG = sig. 0,037). However, the independent t-test showed sig. 0.000 which means that the experimental group (EG) using the traditional 'ular naga' game is recommended to improve locomotor skills in kindergarten children aged 4-5 years. Future research can explore the influence of other traditional games, utilize technology to measure motor development in more detail, and expand the duration of observation to see long-term effects.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the use of interval training in Punching Bag drills on anaerobic endurance in boxers. This type of research is quasi-experimental, with pretest-posttest. The experimental group (EG) is a group with Punching Bag drills training with interval training, while the control group (CG) is a group with Punching Bag drills training but does not use intervals or free training. Data collection used a 300-meter sprint. The sample consisted of 7 EG boxers and 7 CG boxers, with characteristics of age 18 – 24 years, height 160 – 174 centimeters, weight 52 – 66 kilograms, training experience 3.2±2.7 years. The training program was conducted for 6 weeks, 3 meetings per week. EG and CG were also given the same opportunity in the form of 15 rounds x 3 minutes, 1 minute recovery (table 1). The results of Wilcoxon Test (p<0.05) showed that EG had an effect on anaerobic 0.017<0.05 with an increase in time of 9.11 seconds. CG also had an effect on anaerobic 0.042<0.05 with an increase in time of 4.82 seconds. However, there was a difference in groups using the Mann-Whitney test 0.010<0.05. These findings reinforce the benefits of interval training in increasing anaerobic energy expenditure. This study suggests the integration of interval training into boxing training to improve recovery, strength, and endurance. Given the limited sample size, training program, and previous training conditions of the athletes, future studies are needed for further verification.

Abstract

This study was to analyze the effect of resistance band use on underhand passing accuracy in volleyball players aged 15-18 years in extracurricular activities. This study was a quasi-experimental study using a pretest–posttest with a control group design. The sample consisted of 14 students (8 males and 6 females) in each of the intervention and control groups. The resistance band training method was carried out for 6 weeks, covering arm muscle strengthening, shoulder stability, underhand passing coordination with elastic loads. The training intensity was arranged progressively from 60%-80%. Data collection used a modified Brady Volleyball Test. The results of this study, the Wilcoxon test showed that the intervention group had an effect on improving underhand passing accuracy (male: sig. 0.011 and female: sig. 0.026). Meanwhile, the control group had no effect. Mann-Whitney test showed a posttest difference between the intervention and control groups, with a sig. 0.001 for male students and a sig. 0.004 for female students. This conclusion suggests that the intervention group experienced increased accuracy in underhand passing after being given a training program using resistance bands. Future research could involve a larger sample size, a longer intervention duration, and addition of supporting variables.

Abstract

Study purpose. This study examined whether an exercise training model centered on self-recorded practice videos produces greater improvements in beginner tennis players’ fundamental skills than unsupervised free practice, and whether outcomes differ by the presence of online coach monitoring. Accordingly, we compared (1) a monitored self-recording model, (2) an unmonitored self-recording model, and (3) a free-practice control, while controlling for baseline self-efficacy. Materials and methods. An experimental pretest–posttest control group design involved 24 first-semester students (12 male, 12 female) from the Siliwangi University Tennis Club with no formal tennis training. Participants were randomly assigned to: (1) video-based self-recording monitored by a coach via online supervision, (2) video-based self-recording without monitoring, and (3) unsupervised free-practice control. The intervention lasted 12 weeks (3 sessions/week; 36 sessions). This training session lasted 120 minutes, including a 15-minute warm-up, 90 minutes of main training, and a 15-minute cool-down. The intensity of the training was controlled at a low to moderate level (60%–75% of HRmax). Forehand accuracy (FA) and backhand accuracy (BA) were measured using the Dyer Tennis Test, service accuracy (SA) using the Hewitt Tennis Achievement Test, and self-efficacy (SE) using the Endurance Sport Self-Efficacy Scale (ESSES). Paired -tests assessed within-group changes, and MANCOVA tested posttest skill differences while controlling for pretest SE. Results. Only Group 3 showed no significant improvement in BA (p = 0.109); Groups 1 and 2 significantly improved FA, BA, SA, and SE (p < 0.005). Group had a significant multivariate effect on posttest tennis skills after controlling for pretest SE (p < 0.000; ). Pretest SE significantly influenced FA, BA, and SA (p = 0.021; ), predicting posttest FA (p = 0.027) and SA (p = 0.036), but not BA (p = 0.221). Conclusions. Video-based self-recording improves beginner tennis skills and self-efficacy beyond unsupervised free practice. Baseline self-efficacy should be considered in training design because it relates to post-intervention performance, particularly forehand and service accuracy. Future research should involve larger, diverse samples, include retention tests, and explore equipment modifications reported to enhance technical control and self-efficacy in beginners.
