Abstract

Gapoktan Jali Jaya is one of the facilities for farmer activities in Talang Jali Village, North Kotabumi District, North Lampung. The use of chemical pesticides is common among farmers, especially in the Jali Jaya Gapoktan. Even though the price is expensive, farmers still use it, because the response to pests is faster. There are several alternatives to replace chemical pesticides, namely the application of Biopesticide. Studies have been carried out that natural products come from plants with groups of secondary metabolites and bioactive compounds such as phenolics, alkaloids, terpenoids and other secondary chemicals so that they can control OPT (Plant Pest Organisms). The aim of training on the manufacture and use of biopesticides is to increase public awareness of how important it is to have healthy plants, protected from pests and not damaging the environment. This service activity is carried out through evaluation, preparation, training and implementation stages. Direct training and practical methods are used in its implementation. The results of the lecturer's community service activities were that Gapoktan members, the majority of whom were farmers, were very enthusiastic about taking part in the training and making biopesticides and participated in the activities until completion. Participants also helped practice making biopesticides using choppers and putting the ingredients into drums. Farmers' knowledge increased about biopesticide applications and 50% of participants used biopesticides to protect cultivated plants from pest attacks, especially insects.

Abstract

Semangka (Citrullus vulgaris, Schard) adalah buah yang sangat disukai orang Indonesia karena rasanya yang manis, renyah, dan banyak airnya. Dari data Badan Pusat Statistik Provinsi Lampung menyatakan bahwa Provinsi Lampung memiliki total produksi semangka sebesar 19.442 t-1 tahun-1 dan mendapat peringkat ke 5 dalam produksi semangka se-Indonesia setelah Jawa Timur, Jawa Tengah, Sumatera Utara dan Bali (BPS, 2022). Namun, dalam kegiatan budidaya tanaman semangka terkendala dengan organisme pengganggu tanaman (OPT), menurut Kumbara (2024) menyatakan bahwa hama yang menyerang tanaman semangka dan bahkan menurunkan produksi adalah ulat grayak, kutu kebul, lalat buah dan kepik hijau. Salah satu cara yang digunakan petani untuk mengendalikan hama pada tanaman semangka dengan pestisida. Pestisida adalah salah satu komponen penting dalam pertanian yang dapat membantu petani mengatasi organisme pengganggu. Pestisida yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berbahan aktif Imidakloroprid Spirotetramat. Imidakloroprid Pirotetramat berfungsi untuk menghentikan biosintesis lipid dan menjadi alternatif baru. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Makarti Jaya, Kecamatan Tumijajar, Kabupaten Tulang Bawang Barat, sejak Bulan April 2024 hingga Juni 2024. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini melibatkan semua petani yang menanam semangka jenis Juve di berjumlah 30 petani dengan luas lahan antara 2500 m-2 ha-1 dan lebih. Sampel yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini adalah total populasi, yaitu 30 petani. Perlakuan yang diamati adalah populasi hama pada tanaman semangka. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pestisida yang mengandung pestisida Imidakloroprid + Spirotetramat dengan aplikasi tepat waktu, tepat dosis, dan tepat sasaran efektif mengendalikan hama kutu kebul (Bemissia tabaci), thrips, kepik Hijau (Nezara viridula L.), lalat Buah (Bactrocera sp), dan ulat Grayak (Spodoptera frugiperda) pada tanaman semangka di Kecamatan Tumijajar Kabupaten Tulang Bawang Barat.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a primary commodity in stabilizing the food supply of Indonesian people. However, currently the condition of dry land and paddy fields is experiencing land degradation. Land degradation can be restored to fertility using cow dung compost. This study was designed with a two-factor randomized block design (RAK). The first factor is compost consisting of three levels, namely K0 = without compost, K1 = 50% compost dose, K2 = 100% compost. The second factor consists of two levels, namely S0 = without jajar legowo, S1 = jajar legowo 2:1, resulting in six experimental combinations repeated three times, resulting in a total of 18 experimental units. The research results were tested using analysisi of variance (ANOVA) ά = 5%, followed by the least significant difference (LSD) test at the ά = 5% level. Observation variables included plant height (cm), number of productive tillers, number of full grains (per panicle), wet grain yield per plot (kg), and weight of 1,000 dry grains harvested. The results showed that the 2:1 jajar legowo compost system had no impact on plant height or tiller number at 25 days after planting. The application of compost using the 2:1 jajar legowo system significantly affected rice plant height and tiller number at 50 and 70 days after planting. There was an interaction between compost application and the jajar legowo system on rice plant height at MSP. The compost treatment using the 2:1 jajar legowo system significantly affected the weight of 1,000 grains and the harvest weight of the rice.

Abstract

The problem of household organic waste and dependence on chemical fertilizers remains a challenge in Sungkai Utara District. This community service activity aims to improve community knowledge and skills in managing household organic waste into environmentally friendly and useful liquid organic fertilizer (POC). The activity implementation method uses a participatory approach through the stages of initial surveys, counseling, direct practice of making POC, mentoring, and monitoring and evaluation. The results of the activity showed an increase in participant knowledge from 36% to 84%. Participants were able to produce approximately 120 liters of liquid organic fertilizer and apply it to yard plants. The impact of the activity includes reduced household organic waste, increased community independence in providing fertilizer, and growing awareness of environmental management and sustainable agriculture. This activity has the potential to be replicated as a community service model based on the utilization of household organic waste.
