Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of warm compress intervention with boiled lemongrass stems on reducing dysmenorrhea pain in female adolescents at the Dara Juanti Dormitory in Malang City. This research method uses a pre-experimental research design with one group, using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The total population of female teenagers at the Dara Juanti Dormitory in Malang City was 30 respondents, all of whom experienced desminorrhea pain. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Intervention is carried out by giving a warm compress with boiled lemongrass stems for 15-20 minutes. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon paired test. The results showed that the majority of respondents experienced a decrease in desminore pain levels after the intervention. Before the intervention, the majority of respondents experienced moderate pain, but after the intervention, the majority experienced mild pain. Conclusion: Based on data analysis, there is a significant effect between the intervention of warm compresses with boiled lemongrass stems and a reduction in desminore pain in female adolescents at the Dara Juanti Dormitory in Malang City. Therefore, this intervention can be used as an alternative for managing desminorrhea pain in female adolescents.

Abstract

The postpartum period is the period during labor and immediately after birth which includes the following weeks when the reproductive tract returns to its normal non-pregnant state (Noviana Evin, 2018). Pain is a form of discomfort, which is defined in various perspectives. Stitching pain is pain that occurs in the perineum due to the suturing/hectating process due to tearing of the birth canal during the birth process, whether torn spontaneously or due to an episiotomy (scientific, 2017). Birth canal tears occur when the perineal tissue is torn during childbirth. According to (Zuliati 2016) 65% of birth canal tears occur in mothers in the second stage when giving birth to a baby. This wound usually occurs spontaneously or occurs due to an episiotomy. To determine whether there is an effect of cinnamon decoction on perineal suture pain in PMB Khusnia in Tambak Lekok Village, Kec. Lekok, Pasuruan Regency. The type of research used was a purposive sampling technique, the method used was quantitative with pre-experiment one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study was postpartum mothers on days 1-6 based on data available in Khort in January-March 2024, obtained by mothers postpartum with perineal suture pain as many as 20 people 20% of the total 28% analysis used Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test showed that the effect of giving cinnamon decoction on perineal suture pain in postpartum mothers, the results were 0.005 where <0.05, which means there was an effect before and after being given cinnamon decoction. Giving cinnamon decoction can reduce the pain of perineal stitches in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

The quantity of sleep in infants aged 3-6 months is an essential aspect of their development and well-being, as well as for their families. During this stage, infants undergo rapid changes in their sleep patterns, and parents often face challenges in ensuring that their babies sleep soundly. This study aims to determine the Influence of Baby Massage on the Quantity of Sleep in Infants Aged 3-6 months at Atha Mom And Baby Care Lumajang. The type of research to be used in this study is pre-experimental design using the pretest and posttest one-group design method. The sample of this study consists of 20 infants aged 3-6 months using total sampling technique. From the research results, it was found that the majority of respondents had poor sleep quality, with 12 respondents (60%) before receiving Baby Massage, and those with good sleep quality were 18 respondents (90%) after receiving Baby Massage. From the analysis table using the Wilcoxon test, the α value obtained was 0.002, which means that α <0.05, and it can be concluded that there is an Influence of Baby Massage on the Quantity of Sleep in Infants Aged 3-6 months at Atha Mom And Baby Care Lumajang. The increase in sleep quantity in infants who received massage is caused by an increase in the secretion of serotonin produced during the massage. Serotonin is the main neurotransmitter associated with the onset of sleep by suppressing the activity of the reticular activating system and other brain activities.
