Abstract

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) was implemented in response to the high usage of social media among students, particularly Instagram, which often becomes a platform for cyberbullying. This phenomenon becomes increasingly complex when students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Comments or posts considered normal in one culture may be perceived as offensive in another. A lack of cultural sensitivity often triggers digital conflict and bullying, which can negatively impact students' mental health. This PKM aims to improve students’ understanding of the dangers of cyberbullying and the importance of cross-cultural communication ethics. The program began with a pre-test to assess participants' initial knowledge, followed by an interactive seminar discussing the concepts of cyberbullying, digital ethics, and real-life case studies. Students then engaged in group discussions and simulations, where they analyzed problematic digital content and formulated empathetic, constructive responses. At the end of the activity, a post-test was conducted to evaluate the program’s effectiveness. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ awareness and attitudes. This program successfully encouraged students to be more thoughtful and responsible in their online interactions and to become change agents in creating a safer, more inclusive digital environment. The outcomes of this program include a scholarly publication, an educational video disseminated on social media, and quantitative data showing an increase in participants’ knowledge. Overall, this initiative contributes to strengthening multicultural digital literacy among today’s youth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of transformational leadership communication styles at PT Asam Jawa and identify the challenges that arise within a family-based organizational culture. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with the General Manager and four employees from various divisions. The results indicate that the leadership has implemented transformational leadership dimensions through idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. This has proven effective in increasing employee motivation and performance through an emotional vision and tangible rewards. However, significant challenges emerged, specifically professional communication barriers caused by a sense of hesitation (ga enakan) and potential social jealousy between divisions triggered by the strong family-based system. In conclusion, while the transformational style functions well, adjustments in communication strategies are needed to balance family values with professional firmness. This study recommends strengthening intrinsic motivation to reduce dependence on external stimuli for long-term organizational productivity.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to understand how the Lembak and Javanese communities interact amid significant language differences. The research was conducted in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu, focusing on both verbal and nonverbal interactions in daily life. Language and cultural value differences often pose challenges in intercultural communication. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with members of both ethnic groups. Data analysis was conducted interactively, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal notable differences in verbal language use, specifically lexical ambiguities and "linguistic shock" caused by the distinct phonological endings of the Col dialect, which create initial communication barriers. Strategies to bridge these differences include using Indonesian as a lingua franca, joint language learning, and linguistic adaptation by migrants. Nonverbal communication through body gestures, facial expressions, and intonation also plays a crucial role, although cultural differences, such as the interpretation of direct eye contact as confrontational by Javanese or Javanese silence as indecisiveness by Lembak, can lead to misunderstandings. The study implies that cultural awareness, openness, and adaptive communication skills are key to fostering harmonious social interactions in multicultural societies.

Abstract

The evolution of digital technology, particularly the TikTok platform, has transformed the landscape of intercultural communication into a global discursive space for the expression and negotiation of complex identities. This study critically analyzes TikTok's role in shaping intercultural tolerance by questioning the effectiveness of algorithms amidst the risks of information bias and stereotypes. The research method employed is a qualitative literature study with thematic analysis techniques applied to 12 selected scientific articles indexed in SINTA and Scopus (2020–2025). The results indicate that TikTok functions as a performative arena where users construct digital personas through stylization and code-mixing strategies to enhance intercultural sensitivity. However, this study asserts a contradiction in algorithmic mechanisms that potentially reinforce fragmented cultivation patterns and the dominance of specific cultures (digital imperialism). These findings identify that the platform's effectiveness in fostering substantive tolerance heavily relies on the synergy between users' critical media literacy and the development of inclusive content to minimize communication conflicts.

Abstract

The ability to hold oneself as an expression of this attitude of tolerance brings understanding and tolerance for differences of opinion. Dissent is normal and cannot be prohibited or suppressed. Only if all parties understand that this argument must be managed wisely in accordance with the noble values of their religious beliefs, culture and traditions. The development and renewal of pluralistic theology in society is an important part of the world order which is shaped by ethnic, cultural and religious pluralism. Basically we are all brothers. Islam prohibits tolerance through the Qur'an and its hadiths. Indonesia is already known as a country that has a variety of diversity. The Qur'an's call for tolerance requires complexity and a willingness to accept all kinds of differences, including ethnicity, skin color, language, customs, culture, and religion. The Qur'an also states that the creation of the heavens and the earth, day and night, male and female is the decree of the Creator as a decree. Tolerance in Islam must always be maintained in accordance with Islamic law. Non-compliance with Sharia values while maintaining tolerance has led to a shift in values from tolerance that is justified within the boundaries of Islam to syncretization of religions with the principle of "all religions". All religions are the same.” This principle denies the absoluteness of religious teachings that truth only exists in Islam.

Abstract

Digital transformation introduces unprecedented complexity in organizational internal communication management, necessitating strategic reconfiguration to sustain employee engagement. This qualitative research employing case study design explores digital-based internal communication strategies in cultivating employee engagement within contemporary organizational contexts. Data collection was executed through semi-structured in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and organizational document analysis with purposively selected participants. Thematic analysis identified digital communication platform transformation, communication transparency as engagement foundation, transformative leadership roles, and implementation challenges as principal themes. Findings delineate that information transparency, leadership responsiveness, and appropriate communication technology integration contribute significantly toward employee engagement enhancement. Barriers encompass information overload, digital competency disparities, and diminished socio-emotional nuances in virtual interactions. Practical implications emphasize integrated omnichannel approach adoption, sustained digital literacy investments, and virtual social interaction mechanism creation to optimize internal communication ecosystems. This research contributes theoretically to organizational communication body of knowledge and provides practical recommendations for practitioners in designing adaptive communication strategies responsive to digital era dynamics.
