Abstract

Abstract

This study discusses the design and development of a Drain Hose Equipment to improve the maintenance of fire hoses in the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) unit at Politeknik Penerbangan Indonesia Curug. The equipment addresses the limitations of manual draining methods, which often leave residual water inside hoses, leading to mold, corrosion, and reduced service life. By applying a gravity roller system integrated with a trolley, the tool efficiently removes remaining water without requiring external power. This research adopts the Research and Development (R&D) method, starting from observation to product validation. The results indicate increased efficiency, reduced labor effort, and faster operational readiness. Although the equipment performs well, further refinement is needed for uneven field conditions. This innovation contributes to safer and more sustainable equipment maintenance and may be applicable to other emergency response industries.

Abstract

Abstract. Safety and rapid response to emergencies are vital aspects of airport operations. One of the supporting elements is the emergency gate access on the access road which is still operated manually, thus potentially causing delays. This research aims to design and realize a Prototype Automatic Emergency Gate based on Arduino Uno microcontroller that is able to operate automatically through HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor and manual control via HC-05 Bluetooth module. The system is also equipped with an I2C LCD display and buzzer indicator to facilitate interaction. Tests were conducted on response speed, Bluetooth connectivity range, and sensor effectiveness in detecting objects. The results show that the prototype works responsively and stably up to a distance of 8 meters without obstacles, and is able to open and close the gate according to the simulated emergency scenario. This prototype is expected to be an initial solution for the automation of emergency access systems at airports, while driving efficiency and improving operational safety standards.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of aerobic exercise on the improvement of VO₂ Max in PKP-PK personnel at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. Physical fitness, particularly VO₂ Max, is a crucial factor in supporting the readiness of PKP-PK personnel to handle emergency situations. Aerobic exercises, including activities such as jogging, aerobics, and cycling, were selected as a method to enhance cardiovascular fitness. The results indicate that aerobic exercise has a positive impact on increasing VO₂ Max, although there are challenges in maintaining consistent exercise due to duty schedules, weather conditions, and personnel motivation. Based on interviews and observations, it was concluded that structured aerobic exercise can enhance the physical endurance of PKP-PK personnel, which is vital to support their performance in emergency tasks. Therefore, it is recommended to improve education, training facilities, and more regular scheduling to optimize the benefits of aerobic exercise.

Abstract

This research analyzes the performance of the main Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle, Foam Tender (FT) 11 Oshkosh Striker 3000 from 2013, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The role of ARFF is crucial in ensuring aviation safety, especially in handling aircraft accident and fire incidents. FT 11 is vital for minimizing impact and saving lives; periodic performance analysis is therefore essential for operational readiness according to strict international standards. The objective of this study is to evaluate the conformity of FT 11's performance with the Regulation of the Director General of Air Transportation Number KP 547 Year 2015 concerning Technical Operational Guidelines for Civil Aviation Safety Regulations, and to identify the impact of performance degradation on the overall operations of the ARFF unit at the airport. A qualitative research method was applied, with data collection through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and comprehensive documentation studies. This approach was chosen for its ability to understand factors influencing vehicle maintenance effectiveness, including technical skills, environmental factors, and policies, as well as to capture the perceptions and experiences of personnel in the field. The research findings are expected to present key findings related to the actual performance conditions of FT 11 based on applicable standard parameters, and to provide a comprehensive analysis of the implications of this performance on the readiness and responsiveness of the ARFF unit in emergency situations. The discussion will include an evaluation of the physical and functional condition of the vehicle, an analysis of the impact of performance degradation on operational efficiency, and an identification of gaps between actual conditions and established standards. Based on these findings, the research will formulate concrete recommendations for improving vehicle maintenance systems and enhancing personnel training programs to increase emergency preparedness and response effectiveness, which will ultimately support the improvement of aviation safety at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport..
