The data analysis technique used is a triangulation technique by double-checking with informants. The results showed that based on its history, duck songkem is a Madurese food served as a form of respect for kyai as a central figure in the Madura social system. The local values embodied in songkem duck cuisine are reflected in local gastronomic attractions, including raw materials, processing, distinctive culinary flavors, food presentation and are demonstrated by ethics, courtesy and friendly service to guests. Songkem duck dish has authentic, iconic, unique and distinctive characteristics with the locality of the local community being a competitive advantage to become the positioning of Madura tourist destinations. This culinary quality needs to be improved through gastronomic tourism attractions with the support of the government and all stakeholders.

Abstract

This study examines how Madurese women utilize culturally ingrained communication methods to achieve empowerment through community-based ecotourism in Sumenep Regency, East Java. The research employed a qualitative ethnographic case study based on the Fiji Vanua Research Framework (FVRF), engaging 15 women entrepreneurs through participant observation, focus group discussions, and Talanoa-style interviews tailored to Madurese cultural conventions. The results indicate that informal social settings—such as pengajian (religious study groups), arisan (rotating savings groups), and cangkrukan (casual gatherings)—function as reliable platforms for discourse, identity negotiation, and communal learning. Instead of challenging patriarchal standards, women recontextualize traditional values such as bhuppa', bhabbu', guru, and rato to validate their economic and civic participation. These communication tactics promote social visibility, reciprocal support, and incremental changes in gender dynamics. The study underscores the significance of culturally rooted empowerment communication in traditional societies and enhances participatory development theory by highlighting localised, non-confrontational avenues for women's agency.

Abstract

The research obtained the discussion about non-verbal communication patterns shifting from the haptic tradition to mediated communication. Furthermore, the discussion also apply to physical distance in space and time theory outlook. Therefore, in collective society, the changes will not only generate a new culture but also deliver the way of thinking shifting. The communication barriers presence in indexical signs use then likely happened. Further research could emphasize on macro levels in language relativity perspective. The use of positivistic paradigms to explain correlations between population characteristics and changes in communication behavior patterns during a pandemic can also be explored.

Abstract

Indonesia is known to the world for the tourism it offers. Various approaches to tourism are now emerging over time, and one of the focuses of government development is village-based tourism or ecovillage toursim. The development of this tourist village itself cannot run well if there is no cooperation between the local government and the local community. Therefore, there is a need for communication between the two parties who have a similar vision and mission and are able to work together to develop an ecovillage. This is also what the West Java government and the people of Garut city are doing to develop tourist villages in their area. This study aims to determine the pattern of information dissemination carried out by the Garut Regency Tourism and Culture Office (DISPARBUD) in the development of an ecovillage-based tourism. Using a qualitative descriptive case study method and involving three members of DISPARBUD as the participants, the results of this study indicate that DIPSPARBUD has a simple pattern of disseminating information to local communities regarding the development of ecovillage. This pattern goes through three stages namely; (1) Information distribution (determining communicators, compiling messages, scheduling socialization), (2) Performance reporting (analyzing and responding to the effects of communication, (3) Managing stakeholders (evaluation). With this communication pattern, DISPARBUD seeks to optimize the delivery of information regarding development a tourist village that continues to move forward and is expected to produce many other tourist villages in the future
