Abstract

Gunung Merbabu National Park (TNGMb) is a conservation area with a high level of biodiversity. Information on land cover is very important in making ecological management policies in conservation areas. Proven Remote Sensing technology produces precise information on land cover in a time and cost-effective manner. This study uses Landsat 8 imagery in TNGMb land cover classification process. Maximum Likelihood approach is used because it uses a probability calculation basis. A configuration matrix table between training data and reference data is made to test the accuracy of land cover classification. Reference data refers to Google Earth Pro high-resolution imagery. Results showed that the most extensive land cover type was secondary dryland forest with total of 23393 pixels classified as equivalent to 2113.54 hectares (34.5% of the total classification area. The open area, built-up area, and rice field/vegetable garden each have an area of ​​12.08 Ha; 11.02 Ha; and 170.96 Ha, of which part of the area is in enclaved areas within the TNGMb area. The accuracy test shows the Kappa Coefficient of 86.25%, User's Accuracy Average, Ground Truth Average, and Overall Accuracy respectively 89.62%; 85.42%; and 88.33%. Overall Accuracy shows that 88.33% of the total pixels represent each classification correctly.

Abstract

The prevalence of breast cancer in Indonesia is still increasing. Data from the Global Cancer Observatory shows that the most common cancer case in Indonesia is breast cancer. Meanwhile, the incidence of breast and cervical cancer in Bontang City reaches 30% of the overall cancer data in Bontang (Akurasi.id, 2024). Therefore, there is a need for a health promotion campaign and breast cancer prevention using simple communication methods. This program aimed to provide education to health cadres (PKK) in three sub-districts of Bontang, targeting 100 participants. Five sub-districts were selected from each of the three sub-districts, with seven participants sampled from 10 sub-districts and six participants sampled from five sub-districts. Participants were selected using purposive sampling. The program employed a participatory research approach based on community empowerment, using the TPS (Transactional, Precise, and Skilled) communication model. The program was conducted in three stages. In the first stage, theoretical information related to breast cancer and its prevention was provided, along with 100 questions and answers shared online beforehand. The second stage involved practicing breast self-examination (SADARI). The third stage combined theory and practice, incorporatingeducational strategies through games and evaluations. The program results showed that 83% of participants agreed that knowledge about breast cancer and its prevention was necessary. The program successfully improved the knowledge and attitudes of PKK/health cadres through an interactive, participatory approach. Although there were barriers related to participant agility, support from trained organizers proved effective in overcoming them. These findings confirm the importance of health education that emphasizes two-way communication and breast cancer prevention.

Abstract

Land degradation resulting from agricultural expansion is a significant issue in the Sangarus Catchment area of Lampung, Indonesia, particularly in the upstream region. The conversion of forests into intensive agricultural land has led to declines in soil physical properties and increases in erosion rates. This study aimed to analyze the magnitude of soil erodibility (K-factor) and to evaluate its relationship with soil physical properties, to inform targeted management strategies. The research employed a Land Mapping Unit (LMU) approach, collecting 47 soil samples across the catchment based on soil type, slope, and land cover overlays. The soil samples underwent laboratory analysis for texture, structure, organic matter, and permeability. The K-factor was calculated following the Wischmeier and Smith equation. The results indicated that soil erodibility values (K) in the Sangarus Catchment area ranged from 0.01 to 0.33, with the highest erodibility observed in the upstream area, particularly within mixed dryland agriculture land use. In contrast, secondary forests exhibited the lowest soil erodibility. Statistical analysis revealed that soil permeability was the most significant factor influencing erodibility, followed by other soil properties. These findings suggest that mitigation strategies for the upstream mixed dryland agriculture zones should prioritize Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). Combining agroforestry systems with the intensive application of organic amendments is recommended as a primary strategy. These approaches are essential for improving soil permeability and maintaining organo-mineral complexes, thereby restoring hydrological functions and ensuring the sustainability of the catchment against the risks of degradation.

Abstract

Coastal cities in Southeast Asia face dual challenges of rapid urbanization and increasing climate pressures, demanding robust integration of risk assessment into spatial planning. This study assesses the vulnerability of Bandar Lampung City's coastal area to extreme waves and abrasion, analyzing implications for its spatial plan. Using a standard hazard index and a spatial overlay against the city's Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW), the research identifies a 'Medium' hazard classification across all four studied sub-districts. Crucially, this classification is not driven by significant hydrodynamic forces but is substantially amplified by anthropogenic vulnerabilities. A development-centric spatial policy has led to the dominance of residential and industrial land use on susceptible coastal typologies, coupled with a critical lack of protective vegetation. The analysis exposes a significant misalignment between planning and risk reduction, revealing a state of 'planned vulnerability' where over 400 hectares designated for future industrial and residential development lie directly within the hazard zone. This physical exposure is compounded by high social vulnerability in densely populated communities and the placement of critical public infrastructure in at-risk areas. Situated within the city's multi-hazard context including flooding, tsunamis, and accelerating climate change impacts, these findings highlight a systemic conflict between short-term development objectives and long-term resilience. The study concludes that effective adaptation requires a fundamental shift beyond project-based solutions towards the systemic integration of multi-hazard risk assessment into urban governance and spatial planning.
