Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan guru dalam membuat soal Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) pada mata pelajaran matematika. Kemampuan guru dalam membuat soal yang bertipe HOTS merupakan salah satu kompetensi yang diperlukan dalam rangka pelaksanaan Kurikulum 2013. Soal bertipe HOTS merupakan instrumen yang dapat dipergunakan guru untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Disamping itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor atau kendala yang dialami guru dalam membuat soal HOTS, baik dalam ujian formatif (ulangan harian), maupun pada ujian sumatif (UTS dan UAS). Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan: 1) Kemampuan guru dalam membuat kisi-kisi soal pada umumnya sudah baik. Sebanyak 88% guru mampu membuat kisi-kisi penulisan soal dengan baik, sisanya 12 % masih perlu banyak berlatih membuat kisi-kisi penulisan soal;2) Sebanyak 80% guru sudah mampu membuat soal HOTS dengan tipe tanpa stimulus; 3) Sebanyak 60% guru mampu membuat soal HOTS dengan stimulus; dan 4) Faktor atau kendala yang dialami guru dalam membuat soal HOTS adalah guru masih terbiasa membuat soal yang bersifat LOTS dan belum ada kebijakan khusus dari sekolah tentang penggunaan soal HOTS dalam ujian, Penggunaan soal HOTS di sekolah masih bersifat himbauan.

Abstract

Mathematics learning often faces various obstacles that affect the effectiveness and quality of education. Mathematical concepts are often abstract and difficult for students to understand without a clear and applicable explanation. As a result, students can feel confused and unable to master mathematical concepts with practical applications, hindering understanding and application of the material. The objectives of this research is to find out the students' description of the challenges and effective strategies in daily learning mathematics. This type of research is a qualitative description. Data collection is carried out through interviews, observations, or other methods, and then the data is analyzed in depth to find patterns, themes and meanings that emerge. The research instruments were interviews and questionnaires. The research results show that students prefer mathematics subjects compared to other subjects, only achieving a percentage score of 53%. Of course this is a challenge for a teacher. To overcome these challenges, several strategies that are considered effective in learning mathematics are the use of active learning methods, technology integration; differentiation approach, and development of problem solving skills..
