Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

When it comes to palm oil, Indonesia dominates the global market. However, the European Union Parliament’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED) policy created roadblocks for the Indonesian palm oil industry’s European exports because the product did not adhere to sustainability principles. In 2009, Indonesia adopted the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) policy in response to the European Union’s RED. This policy aims to promote sustainable practices on oil palm plantations. The government of Indonesia is likewise working to increase ISPO’s visibility abroad. Regarding Indonesian provinces, West Kalimantan has the third-largest area dedicated to oil palm plantations. However, only a few palm oil producers have obtained ISPO certification. This study aims to determine why the ISPO policy was ineffective in West Kalimantan by examining the challenges of enforcing the policy through the lenses of sustainable development and policy implementation. A descriptive qualitative method was applied, with data gathered through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Non-specific policy substance, information restrictions, governmental policies not supporting implementation, and probable distribution problems among the parties engaged in execution were only a few factors this study cited impeding the ISPO policy implementation in West Kalimantan.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of SAMPAN Kalimantan as an NGO that contributes to the preservation of mangrove ecosystems as an effort to adapt to climate change. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research methodology with data processing using source triangulation. In addition, researchers used the theory of the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to analyze the role of SAMPAN Kalimantan in mangrove conservation. The results of this research are that SAMPAN Kalimantan, which runs the program in Kubu Raya, has begun to fulfill its role as an NGO, namely as Executor/Implementer, Catalyst and Partner. As the Executor, it is known that there are several activities carried out by the community that can benefit the general public and provide employment opportunities and benefits for the local community by utilizing existing natural resources, one of which is the potential for fish, shrimp and crabs. As a catalyst, SAMPAN Kalimantan has encouraged areas that have not received permits to become social forestry since 2013.

Abstract

The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) is a purely internal conflict because both parties want to fight for civilian leadership. Since Leader General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan together with the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took over the power of al-Bashir's government. The struggle for power continues, marked by extremist movements from the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces Coup Movement. Since al-Burhan demonstrated the 2019 Constitutional agreement regarding political transition, extremist movements have been carried out by the Rapid Support Forces and in 2023 in the capital Khartoum to seize power from Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. This article aims to analyze 1) The influence of the Sudanese Rapid Support Force movement; 2) RSF's reasons for fighting SAF; 3) Impact on Sudanese State Security; 4) International laws violated in the RSF-SAF conflict. The method used in this paper is explanatory historical by collecting data on past events and using appropriate theories to explain the RSF-SAF conflict. Behind all the RSF's aggressive actions, Hemedti and his troops intended to overthrow Al-Burhan because he had betrayed the 2019 Constitution. As a result of the war between the RSF and SAF, Sudan turned into a country that contributed to immigrants and triggered a humanitarian crisis. The research contribution is: to examine the internal armed conflict in Sudan from a legal and political perspective, focusing particularly on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their impact on state security, governance, and international legal norms

Abstract

Abstract

The emergence of hoaxes in the digital era ahead of the 2024 elections which will be held simultaneously cannot be avoided. The dominance of hoaxes in elections causes polarization and distrust of the election process, especially for novice voters. This is because novice voters have a strategic role and are vulnerable to misinformation and perceptions. Therefore, it is necessary to educate novice voters regarding hoaxes as a threat to democratic and quality elections. This Community Service activity was given to students and teachers at SMA IT AL-FITYAN, Kubu Raya Regency as an effort to provide knowledge about hoaxes, raise awareness to be able to prevent and detect hoaxes and increase the political participation of novice voters in elections. This activity uses socialization methods and active participation through discussion/sharing. The result of this activity is an increase in the understanding of Al-Fityan High School students about hoaxes ahead of the 2024 election where 80% of students show a very good understanding of the hoax issue. It involves novice voters as young voters who are rational and contribute to influencing the future of the country.
