Abstract

Leadership is a crucial element in running an institution, but it is now difficult to find leaders as people tend to prioritize themselves and care less about the interests of others and the environment. This study aims to analyze the role of the Head of Madrasah in developing a culture of reading the Qur'an. This is a field study with a qualitative descriptive approach, using observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The data analysis involves collection, transcription, coding, categorization, theme identification, and interpretation to generate deep and meaningful insights. The study shows that the Head of Madrasah at MTs Nurul Ma’rifah OKI successfully developed a culture of reading the Qur'an through seven leadership roles (EMASLIM) according to the Minister of National Education Regulation No. 13 of 2007. The roles of the Head of Madrasah as Educator, Manager, Administrator, Supervisor, Leader, Innovator, and Motivator have been well implemented, making the culture of reading the Qur'an an excellent program. The main supporting factor is the appointment of several teachers as supervisors, which facilitates the program's implementation. However, the main obstacle is the lack of educational support from home, where the role of parents is very important.

Abstract

Muhadatsah learning in Islamic boarding schools requires innovation that can improve fluency, confidence, and participation of students in speaking Arabic. The dominant teaching practice of lectures often makes students less active, so a more effective innovative approach is needed. This study aims to examine innovations in muhadatsah learning through the application of the Practice Rehearsal Pair method supported by Canva media at the Nurul Huda Sukawinatan Islamic boarding school. This study uses a mixed methods approach, combining qualitative data from observations, interviews, and documentation, as well as quantitative data from a Likert scale questionnaire to measure the students' responses and improvement in their abilities. The results show that this combination of methods and media significantly improves the students' activity, confidence, and mastery of dialogue based on qualitative and quantitative analysis. Canva helps present attractive visual material, while the Practice Rehearsal Pair method reinforces intensive paired practice. Quantitative analysis using a paired t-test showed a 2-tailed p value < 0.0001, which is less than the significance level of 0.05, so Ho was rejected and H₁ was accepted, indicating an increase in speaking skills after the treatment. In conclusion, this mixed methods-based learning innovation is effective in improving the quality of muhadatsah learning and is feasible to be applied as an instructional strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Abraham Maslow’s humanistic theory in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and its implications for the self-actualization of eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Madang Suku II OKU Timur. The background of this research is based on the predominance of cognitively oriented and teacher-centered PAI learning, which tends to overlook students’ psychological and humanistic needs. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of PAI teachers and eleventh grade students. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The data validity technique referred to the concept proposed by Moleong, including credibility testing through source triangulation and technique triangulation, as well as prolonged engagement and reference adequacy. The results indicate that Abraham Maslow’s humanistic theory was implemented contextually through the fulfillment of students’ physiological needs, safety needs, love and belongingness needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs within the PAI learning process. The teacher acted as a facilitator who created a safe, comfortable, democratic, and respectful learning environment. The implementation of this theory contributed to increased learning motivation, self-confidence, courage to express opinions, and the development of students’ potential and self-actualization. This study confirms that Abraham Maslow’s humanistic theory is relevant and effective in supporting humanistic, participatory, and meaningful Islamic Religious Education learning.
