Abstract

The rupiah exchange rate, import, and export are the important indicators in economy, including the Indonesia economy. The debate regarding the relationship among the exchange rate, import, and export has been persisting for several decades. Some researchers found that there is a relationship among those three and others explained that there is no correlation among them. The aim of this research is to obtain the empirical evidence of the causal relationship among the export, import, and foreign exchange rate by using the monthly data from January 2010 to April 2014. The export and import data are the export and import values in US dollar. The exchange rate data is the median exchange rates of the Indonesian Bank. The Johansen Cointegration Test and the Granger Causality Test are used to analyze the data. The research result shows that export and import have no causal relationship at five percent. Next, the foreign exchange rate influences the export and import at 10 percent level. The result indicates that the foreign exchange rate has small effects on the export and import. Based on the results, the government should control the balance of trade and should not make any policy that is based on the exchange rate values. Finally, it can be said that the exchange rate policy is not effective in increasing the exports and reducing the imports.

Abstract

The aims of this study is to examine the effect of General Allocation Funds (DAU) and Special Allocation Funds (DAK) on Original Local Government Revenues (PAD) in Indonesia using APBD data for 33 provinces in Indonesia for 2016-2018. The research hypothesis was tested using the Partial Leas Square structural equation model. The results showed that DAU had a negative effect on PAD, while DAK had a positive effect on PAD. Capital Expenditures (BM) were able to mediate DAU's effects on PAD. Based on the results of this study, the researchers recommend that the DAU received by the local government from the central government should be used to increase Capital Expenditures (BM) in order to increase PAD.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the effects of inflation, exchange rates, and the Covid-19 pandemic on Indonesia's trade balance position and to develop an empirical estimation model to predict its position. Method: The data used in this research are the inflation rate, exchange rate of rupiah to the US dollar, export value, and import value of Indonesia from January 2012 to March 2021. The econometric model used in this study was a binary logistic regression model. Results: The results indicate that The regression coefficient of the inflation rate is negative at 0.3621, with an odds ratio of 0.696. This suggests that 1 percent in inflation reduces the probability of a trade balance surplus of 0.696. The regression coefficient for the exchange rate was positive at 2.18, with an odds ratio of 8.85. This means that every 2.72 rupiah increase in the exchange rate raises the probability of a trade balance surplus of 8.85 times. However, this study does not find empirical evidence that inflation, exchange rates, and pandemic of Covid-19 have no impact on the position of Indonesia's trade balance. Limitations: This study focuses on two factors believed to influence the position of trade balance in Indonesia: the inflation rate and foreign exchange rates. Contributions: This study provides insights into government policy.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of investment on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) within the framework of sustainable development. The investment referred to in this study is foreign investment (FDI) and investment in resources as measured by the human development index (HDI). In addition, an analysis of the effect of the number of workforce, exports, and imports was also carried out. The type of research is quantitative research with a panel data regression analysis model. Through documentation techniques, 102 data units were obtained from provincial governments in Indonesia during 2020-2022. The data analysis technique used is panel data regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that FDI has a positive and significant effect on GRDP. HDI, the number of workforce, exports, and imports do not have a significant effect on GRDP. The research findings emphasize that local governments must take appropriate policies to increase FDI in their respective regions. Increasing investment with an indicator of FDI contribution to GDP is one of the pillars that has been determined by the government as part of the objectives and indicators of the success of the pillars of sustainable economic development.

Abstract

Abstract

Environmental sustainability is a crucial concern for universities due to the environmental impacts of their operations, including energy use, waste, and transportation. As key actors, higher education institutions play a vital role in promoting sustainability by enhancing students' knowledge, attitudes, and active participation in sustainable practices. This study aims to analyze the relationship between environmental education, knowledge, attitude, and behavior. A total of 376 students of Universitas Negeri Semarang were involved in this study. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed online. Data analysis was carried out using the PLS-SEM analysis technique. The results showed that environmental attitude has a positive effect on student environmental behavior. However, environmental education and knowledge were not proven to significantly influence environmental behavior directly. Environmental education has been shown to play an important role in significantly increasing knowledge and attitudes towards the environment. In addition, environmental education can indirectly influence environmental behavior through the formation of environmental attitudes. The implication of this study shows that the universities and higher education policymakers need to emphasize strengthening positive attitudes toward the environment in environmental education curricula, rather than just focusing on increasing knowledge alone.
