Abstract

This research aims to discover the dynamics of the Maulid Nabi tradition, reconstruction, and analysis of the phenomenology of the reconstruction of the Maulid Nabi tradition in Palembang Malay Society. This study uses a reformistic typology (renewal) with a phenomenologically reconstructive approach assisted by anthropology and history—data collection by in-depth interviews and observation. The results of the study show that there are five variants in the implementation of the Maulid Nabi tradition. First, the annual tradition of not reading the Mawlid book. Second, the annual tradition of reading the Maulid book. Third, Maulid Arbain and Isyrin. Fourth, Mawlid Twelve Nights of Mawlid. Fifth, as a weekly wirid. Even though it is done differently, the substance shows love for the Prophet Muhammad. Reconstruction was carried out in the five variants. The Maulid Nabi tradition is an established tradition carried out from generation to generation while maintaining character and characteristics in terms of objectives, intentions or motivations, values, theological foundations, the position of the Prophet as uswatun hasanah, recitation of blessings and mahal al-qiyām. Reconstruction of the Maulid Nabi tradition in the Palembang Malay community carries a theological meaning. The Palembang Malay community must be reintroduced to sunnatullah theology. Second, social, which includes aspects of togetherness. Third, psychology is evident at the time of expensive al-qiyām. The congregation must understand the meaning in aspects related to the Mawlid tradition rationally, not only in the physical meaning.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the community's response to the practice of cultural da'wah by Dai Muhammadiyah in Palembang City. The research approach used is qualitative, descriptive-exploratory. The informants were community leaders, religious leaders, Muhammadiyah members and Muhammadiyah leaders. Data collection methods use observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. This research concludes that first, the concept of cultural da'wah from Muhammadiyah's perspective is none other than that Muhammadiyah uses culture as a medium for da'wah, thus the concept of cultural da'wah is based on: a) friendly, b) polite, c) courteous, d) civilized, e) tolerance, f) not hate, g) educate, and h) help. Second, the implementation of Dai Muhammadiyah's cultural da'wah is principally through existing local cultural forms such as kenduri culture, thanksgiving, recitation in the community, Islamic holidays, nasyid art, the art of reading the Koran, calligraphy, martial arts, and the art of archery. Third, the public's response to the cultural da'wah practices carried out by Dai Muhammadiyah, both from community leaders, religious leaders, Muhammadiyah residents and Muhammadiyah leaders, on average they responded quite well because Dai Muhammadiyah when giving his lectures did not touch on furu'iyah issues, did not demean the congregation and seeks to educate society and Dai Muhammadiyah gives lectures based on arguments and rationality. And fourth, the reason for acceptance is because Dai Muhammadiyah is rational in the material presented, it is also based on propositions and there is rhetoric, on average the material presented is actual. For those who reject it on the grounds that if culture and religion are mixed, they are worried that syncretism will occur because preaching is firm, straightforward and clearly does not need to compromise with the culture of society, saying that what is right is right and what is false is false.

Abstract

The concept of a state is a closely related discourse to the lives of all humanity. However, the Holy Quran and Hadits, as guidance for Muslims, did not mention the specific form and concept of a state. Therefore, this paper will discuss the idea of a state from some Islamic intellectual perspectives, such as al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun. Both of them were trying to formulate the form and concept of the state. This article uses a qualitative research method with a type of library research. This type of research allows primary data sources to come from books authored by Al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun. At the same time, secondary data sources come from various articles and other scientific books that can support the author's arguments. To analyze their thought, this article uses comparative analysis; comparative analysis allows researchers to understand how the two thinkers view the concept of the state of law and how their thinking can be compared in different contexts.  The results of the study show that Al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun have similarities in emphasizing the relationship between region and politics, as well as the importance of religious principles in government. They agreed that the government must maintain order and justice. However, the difference lies in the approach and form of government; Al-Ghazali supported the monarchy, while Ibn Khaldun did not specify a specific form as long as it met the criteria for justice. Their thinking can be the basis for understanding the interaction of religion and politics in creating a just system of government. Nevertheless, this paper is limited to the views of Ghazali and ibn Khaldun to understand the thoughts of both without involving experimental empirical methods.

Abstract

This research discusses efforts to increase teacher competency in blended learning-based technology through a gender approach. Blended learning, which combines online and face-to-face learning methods, has the potential to increase interaction and learning accessibility, but requires adequate technological skills from teachers. By considering a gender perspective, this research explores the differences and gaps that may arise between male and female teachers in adopting blended learning technology. Data was collected through a survey of a number of teachers from various school levels who had access to blended learning training. The research results show that there are disparities in the use of technology, where gender, age and experience factors influence teacher competence in implementing learning technology. This research recommends gender-based training that supports all teachers in developing their technology skills, to create more inclusive and effective learning environments. Thus, increasing this competency not only supports teacher career development, but also improves student learning outcomes through the use of more adaptive and responsive technology.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of īthār in the thoughts of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah as an approach to avoid people-pleasing behavior. People-pleasing is an individual's tendency to always please others at the expense of personal interests, which can hurt mental health and emotional balance. As an alternative, the concept of īthār, which means prioritizing the interests of others based on sincerity and honesty, offers a healthier solution and is based on Islamic spiritual values. This study uses the theory of Sufism and social psychology to understand the fundamental differences between īthār and people-pleasing. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature study of the works of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, especially Madārij al-Sālikīn and Maḥabbatullah. The study results indicate that īthār is not just a social act, but also part of worship that reflects a balance between personal interests and concern for others without causing psychological stress. In contrast to people-pleasing, which tends to be driven by fear of rejection and the need for social validation, īthār is based on seeking Allah's pleasure and the common good. This study concludes that īthār can be an effective approach to avoid the negative impacts of people-pleasing and help someone build healthier social interactions and improve spiritual quality. The recommendation of this study is the need for a broader understanding of the concept of īthār in character education and psychological guidance, so that individuals can develop a balance between caring for others and maintaining their well-being without getting caught up in people-pleasing attitudes.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss Masaru Emoto’s concept regarding the influence of words on water as presented in his work “The True Power Of Water” and provide a scientific review of dhikr therapy in addressing stress in accordance with Masaru Emoto’s concept. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method through a literature review. Both primary and secondary data serve as sources for this investigation. The research findings reveal that water exposed to positive words, such as dhikr, from beautiful hexagonal-shaped crystals, while to the opposite occurs with negative words. From a scientific perspective, utilizing dhikr therapy with water as medium can assist in alleviating stress. This is attributed to water’s ability to absorb dhikr messages as a form of therapy; chanting dhikr can soothe the soul and generate positive energy, thereby altering the water’s quality. In conclusion, the use of positive words spoken to the body through water as a medium has the potential to alleviate stress disorders when practiced with patience and confidence in the belief that Allah can heal all deseases through the recited water.

Abstract

Water plays an important role in human life because most of the substances that make up humans contain 70% water, and it is considered a remedy for curing various diseases such as stress. The use of water provided by dhikr therapy in this study became a medium for managing stress. This research aims to delve into the concept of the inherent power of water as proposed by Masaru Emoto, and to analyze Emoto’s perspectives on the impact of water in dhikr therapy for stress relief. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the type of library research. Research data is obtained from books, articles and references sources related. The subject in this research are humans who experiences stress. The results of the research show that the form of water can provide an overview and change in the reaction of the word dhikr because water contains positive reactions that can form crystals. When the human body containing water receives the message conveyed by dhikr, it will change the quality of the water and react with a calming effect on the soul. On the other hand, scientific analysis has found that reciting dhikr with the monotheistic “laa illaha ilallah” and “astagfirullah” can eliminate pain and foster calm and nervous stability in the brain. Thus, water that is infused with dhikr functions as a form of therapy that can regulate a person’s brain wave patterns and mental state, because water can record the message conveyed by dhikr.

Abstract

This article critically examines the role of the legendary king Ki Ageng Mangir, who challenged the supremacy of the Sultanate of Mataram in sixteenth-century Java. Through a historical and semiotic approach, this study highlights how Ki Ageng Mangir combined Sufistic values, local traditions, as well as Islamic, Hindu, and Buddhist elements in his resistance against the expansionist Mataram sultanate. The Sufi path functioned as an instrument of legitimacy and effective symbolic resistance to the homogenization of ideology and political control. Values such as patience, sincerity, and God-reliance were the moral values that formed the character of Ki Ageng Mangir’s model of resistance, in contrast to the centralistic model of Panembahan Senopati and the integrative model of Sunan Kalijaga. This study found that local spirituality can serve as a means of individual enlightenment as well as the foundation for collective identity and communal resistance. Resistance to power hegemony can be manifested through meaningful religious and cultural expressions, affirming the relevance of traditional spirituality as the basis for legitimacy, identity, and resistance.
