Abstract

This research describes the first, the position of Tradition as the culture of the Naqsyabandiyah Khalidiyah Babussalam Tarekat which was cultured in the Malay community (Pengamal TNKB) Langkat has been preserved to this day and has become unique local peculiarities withHaul tradition. This research uses the historical method, it is based on the attempt to describe past and present events with the aspects of a phenomenological approach and a qualitative approach, showing more observation results, current interviews. This research also uses library-research. Third, a shift in the berahoi tradition, that many people have careers in government offices, and there is no land for farming, the Haul tradition which is no longer a media for murshid association and Tuan Guru Babussalam's prominent leadership dualism, since the military aggression in 1947 by the Dutch. In line with the findings of the three facts above, researchers used the theory of Evolutionism as proposed by EB Tylor and LH Morgan. When culture develops, there will be a meeting with other cultures, so that the mutual influence between major cultures affects local culture (peripheral culture) which is called Great Tradition and Litel Tradition. The process of change did not occur suddenly, but with an evolutive mechanism, slowly but surely. So that the mutual influence between major cultures influences local culture (peripheral culture) which is called Great Tradition and Litel Tradition. Abstract

This study addresses the challenges faced by Muslim families in applying Qur'anic values in the modern era. Amid globalization and rapid social changes, many Muslim families struggle to balance spiritual values with modern life demands, often leading to internal conflicts, decreased quality of relationships among family members, and difficulties in maintaining family harmony and sustainability. This research aims to analyze the Qur'anic values relevant to Islamic families, focusing on the Tafsir Al-Misbah by M. Quraish Shihab, which provides a deep and contextual interpretation of Qur'anic verses related to family. The research employs a qualitative method with a documentation study approach, collecting data through literature review and in-depth analysis of Tafsir Al-Misbah. The theory used is the Living Quran theory, which emphasizes the importance of applying Qur'anic teachings in daily life as practical guidance. The findings reveal that Tafsir Al-Misbah highlights fundamental values such as compassion, justice, effective communication, and responsibility as key pillars in forming a harmonious and prosperous Islamic family. These findings are expected to enrich understanding of the application of Qur'anic teachings in the family context and provide practical guidance for Muslims in improving family life quality. Keywords: Qur'an, Islamic family, Tafsir Al-Misbah, family values, family formation, Islamic teachings.   Tantangan yang dihadapi keluarga Muslim dalam menerapkan nilai-nilai Al-Qur'an di era modern. Di tengah arus globalisasi dan perubahan sosial yang cepat, banyak keluarga Muslim mengalami kesulitan dalam menjaga keseimbangan antara nilai-nilai spiritual dan tuntutan kehidupan modern, yang sering kali berujung pada konflik internal, penurunan kualitas hubungan antar anggota keluarga, serta ketidakmampuan dalam mempertahankan keharmonisan dan keberlanjutan keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis nilai-nilai Al-Qur'an yang relevan bagi keluarga Islami, dengan berfokus pada tafsir Al-Misbah karya M. Quraish Shihab, yang menawarkan interpretasi mendalam dan kontekstual terhadap ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an yang berkaitan dengan keluarga. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi dokumentasi, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui telaah literatur dan analisis mendalam terhadap Tafsir Al-Misbah. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori Living Quran, yang menekankan pentingnya penerapan ajaran Al-Qur'an dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sebagai pedoman praktis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tafsir Al-Misbah menyoroti nilai-nilai fundamental seperti kasih sayang, keadilan, komunikasi efektif, dan tanggung jawab sebagai pilar utama dalam membentuk keluarga Islami yang harmonis dan sejahtera. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya pemahaman tentang aplikasi ajaran Al-Qur'an dalam konteks keluarga dan memberikan panduan praktis bagi umat Islam dalam meningkatkan kualitas kehidupan keluarga. Kata Kunci: Al-Qur'an, keluarga Islami, tafsir Al-Misbah, nilai-nilai keluarga, pembentukan keluarga, ajaran Islam.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkapkan perubahan dan kemungkinan keberlanjutan tradisi etnofarmakologi pengobatan Islam di Indonesia dan negara-negara muslim. Penelitian ini jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif mengumpulkan informasi melalui penelusuran literatur, pendekatan analisis bibliografi dan interpretasi konten, untuk membuat kesimpulan terhadap perolehan kajian. Hasil penggalian informasi etnofarmakologi dalam tradisi peradaban Islam, terbukti dapat dianalisis dari sisi historis, bukti arkeologis, sosiologi, antropologis, tradisi ilmu pengobatan etnik, kedokteran Islam, selain itu, hal ini menciptakan kemungkinan bagi World Health Organization untuk terus mendorong etnofarmakologi Islam di masa depan. Kesimpulan, eksplorasi etnofarmakologi, dengan kelanjutan pengembangan ilmiah, memberikan kesempatan kepada para ilmuwan Muslim untuk meningkatkan kecemerlangan dan spiritual peradaban Islam.

Abstract

Female students face additional stress and difficulties in adjusting to higher education which negatively impacts academic performance. Due to the dual roles, academic requirements and housekeeping activities, that are played by female students, social support is needed in forming self-efficacy in female students to achieve learning goals. This study aimed to examine the relationship between family support, friend supports, and support from significant others among female students at Islamic universities. In this research, a quantitative method was used with 286 Islamic female students as the subjects, selected using non-probability sampling technique. In this study, the researchers used conformational factor analysis (CFA) using Lisrel 8.8 to test the validity of the measuring instrument. To analyze descriptive statistics, SPSS 23 software was used. The result of this research was that there was a significant and positive influence between social support on self-efficacy of female students of 0.109 or 10.9 %, while the remaining 80.1 % was influenced by other variables outside the research. Based on the analysis of the influence of each independent variable on the dependent variable in this research, there were two dimensions whose regression coefficient values were significant, namely the dimension of family support and significant other and dimension of social support that was not significant, namely the dimension of friend supports.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the social critique of K.H. Misbah Musthofa regarding the education curriculum during the New Order era, particularly within the context of interpreting QS. al-Baqarah [2]: 29. In this study, we delve into his perspective in detail through a content analysis approach. The data utilized is sourced from various educational and Quranic interpretation-related literature. The analysis highlights the arguments put forth by K.H. Misbah Musthofa in his critique. One crucial point emphasized is the necessity of integrating moral and spiritual values into the educational system, as well as the importance of holistic individual development. He also issues a warning about the significance of not just following contemporary trends to avoid falling behind the Western world but also preserving and perpetuating traditional values. The outcomes of this research make a significant contribution to deepening our understanding of education from an Islamic perspective. The reevaluation of KH. Misbah Musthofa's critique can serve as a foundation for formulating a more comprehensive educational approach oriented towards developing the education system, with the hope that it will contribute to building a better society.

Abstract

The Jawi Books, an essential component of Islamic teachings in Southeast Asia, plays a vital role in cultural and religious education. Its study in Palembang, Indonesia, provides insights into the processes of cultural reproduction and adaptation within a contemporary context. This qualitative research explores the teaching methods, motivations, and cultural implications associated with studying the Jawi Books in Palembang. The methodology includes interviews with local scholars, observations of teaching sessions, and an analysis of the content and usage of the Jawi Book in various religious assemblies. The research discovered that the primary motivation for studying the Jawi Books is to aid local congregations in understanding Arabic texts. Despite its historical roots, the Jawi Books remains a significant source of religious knowledge, supported by a strong network of scholars across regions such as Kalimantan, Aceh, Malaysia, and Thailand. The teaching methods are varied, combining traditional approaches like the talaqqi method with modern digital platforms, including YouTube. The study uncovers a symbolic power struggle in the interpretation between Hadromaut and local Palembang clerics, suggesting widespread cultural assimilation. The study of the Jawi Books in Palembang is a prime example of cultural reproduction, adapting traditional Islamic teachings to contemporary needs and contexts, which is crucial for maintaining the relevance and transmission of religious knowledge across generations. These findings underscore the importance of local interpretations and teaching methods in preserving cultural and religious identities in an increasingly globalized world.

Abstract

Muncul dan berkembangnya intelektual Islam di Asia Tenggara berawal dari proses transmisi keislaman, ide-ide keislaman, dan bahkan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Hal-hal semacam inilah yang membangkitkan para Ilmuwan Islam dalam mengembangkan dan menyebarluaskan pengetahuan yang didapatkannya, dan pada akhirnya akan terus berlanjut hingga saat ini. Hubungan yang begitu kuat terhadap keilmuan Islam yang ada di kota Haramain maka akan semakin kuat pengaruhnya terhadap ulama-ulama Nusantara. Dalam hal ini hubungan antara guru dan santri akan begitu berperan aktif serta ada pengaruh yang signifikan. Cara yang dilakukan dalam penyampaian pemikiran atau pandangan seorang guru yaitu dengan tradisi lisan, artinya bertemu langsung pada sang guru dalam konteks pembelajaran. Lambat laun dengan perkembangan zaman maka cara-cara seperti itu akan berubah pula. Hal ini terjadi diakibatkan dengan semakin bertambahnya jumlah masyarakat yang ternyata minat dan bakatnya merasa sangat ingin mempelajari agama Islam atau lebih mengenal agama Islam lebih lanjut. Dengan alasan mempermudah umat dalam mengenal ajarannya maka banyak akan diciptakan teks-teks karya ilmuwan muslim. Sumber-sumber pengetahuan dibangkitkan dari intelektual ulama klasik sendiri, hal ini menjadi dasar yang utama dalam mempermudah penyebaran agama Islam.

Abstract

Modern civilization is indicated by the sophistication and advancement of technology in many sectors: such as information, communication, transportation, and science. Islam as one of the largest religion followed by human who contributed to thinking in this modern civilization. However, it is not well known how the contribution of Islamic thinking in modern civilization is and become a problem and urgency of this research. This research aims to explore the contribution of Islamic thinking in modern civilization. This research using library research. To collecting the data by conducting content analysis on relevant data related to the research object. The results of the research show that Islam has contributed to modern civilization in many aspects, including aspects of the development of science and technology by providing scientific foundation and scientific cue as modern science sources such as breastfeeding, lack of oxygen at height, differences in fingerprints humans, the existence of a human superego, and Big Bang theory. Peradaban modern diindikasikan dengan kecanggihan dan kemajuan teknologi di pelbagai sektor: seperti informasi, komunikasi, transportasi, serta ilmu pengetahuan. Islam sebagai salah satu agama terbesar yang dianut umat manusia turut memberikan kontribusi pemikiran dalam peradaban modern ini. Akan tetapi belum diketahui dengan baik, bagaimana kontribusi pemikiran Islam dalam peradaban modern ini. Dan ini menjadi permasalahan dan urgensi riset ini. Riset ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kontribusi pemikiran Islam dalam peradaban modern. Jenis riset ini ialah library research (penelitian pustaka). Pengumpulan data dengan cara melakukan konten analisis (content analysis) terhadap data relevan terkait objek riset. Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa Islam turut berkontribusi dalam peradaban modern dalam berbagai aspek, termasuk pada aspek pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi dengan memberikan dasar dan isyarat ilmiah sumber sains modern seperti tentang pemberian air susu ibu (ASI) yang ideal, kurangnya oksigen di ketinggian, perbedaan sidik jari manusia, adanya superego yang dimiliki manusia, dan teori Big Bang.

Abstract

The concept of a state is a closely related discourse to the lives of all humanity. However, the Holy Quran and Hadits, as guidance for Muslims, did not mention the specific form and concept of a state. Therefore, this paper will discuss the idea of a state from some Islamic intellectual perspectives, such as al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun. Both of them were trying to formulate the form and concept of the state. This article uses a qualitative research method with a type of library research. This type of research allows primary data sources to come from books authored by Al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun. At the same time, secondary data sources come from various articles and other scientific books that can support the author's arguments. To analyze their thought, this article uses comparative analysis; comparative analysis allows researchers to understand how the two thinkers view the concept of the state of law and how their thinking can be compared in different contexts.  The results of the study show that Al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun have similarities in emphasizing the relationship between region and politics, as well as the importance of religious principles in government. They agreed that the government must maintain order and justice. However, the difference lies in the approach and form of government; Al-Ghazali supported the monarchy, while Ibn Khaldun did not specify a specific form as long as it met the criteria for justice. Their thinking can be the basis for understanding the interaction of religion and politics in creating a just system of government. Nevertheless, this paper is limited to the views of Ghazali and ibn Khaldun to understand the thoughts of both without involving experimental empirical methods.

Abstract

This research conducts an in-depth analysis of Ziauddin Sardar's views on the concept of Islamization of science promoted by Ismail Raji al-Faruqi. By exploring the works of the two figures, this research reveals in detail Sardar's criticisms of the epistemological, paradigmatic and methodological foundations underlying the Islamization of science. The analysis shows that Sardar has fundamental concerns about the potential of the Islamization of science to limit the diversity of knowledge, shift established scientific paradigms, and sacrifice the rigor of research methodology. According to Sardar, attempts to impose Islamic views into all aspects of science risk stifling the development of science as a whole. This study also presents a more thoughtful interpretation. The author argues that the Islamization of science should not be understood as a way to completely overhaul established scientific paradigms and methods. Instead, the Islamization of science can be an opportunity to expand our understanding of natural phenomena by integrating Islamic perspectives. With descriptive analysis, this study concludes that the Islamization of science can be a bridge to a more comprehensive synthesis of knowledge, provided it is done wisely and avoids oversimplification. In responding to the concept of Islamization of science, Sardar offers constructive criticism. He reminds us to maintain harmony between religious values and academic autonomy in advancing science. While critical of certain aspects, Sardar does not entirely dismiss the concept. He advocates for a more inclusive and open dialogue among Muslim scientists and Islamic scholars to collaboratively develop a model of Islamization that is both relevant to contemporary challenges and compatible with the principles of scientific inquiry.
